Appendix C EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

eGRAND ROUNDS Surgical eGrand rounds is a series of broadcasts from at least one hospital, and most often several hospitals from various geographical locations. These series aim to enhance medical knowledge, improve surgical skills and hone clinical reasoning skills for both trainees and urologists. Series will be carefully scheduled to avoid duplication of surgery type. CLINICAL CASE STUDIES Case studies are based on important clinical conditions that urologists manage on a day-to-day basis. Streamlined case presentations allow urologists to practice their skills, from assessment to treatment of a disease. The convenient format allows urologists to assess their knowledge and easily apply what they have learned to their own practice. EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS Educational viedos permit urologists to view roundtable discussions, debates and interviews by leading worldwide experts. These programmes offer participants several medical perspectives from different key opinion leaders. Surgical techniques or the use of medical technology is also demonstrated through live surgery webcasts. If the urologist is unavailable to attend the live webcast, th videos are uploaded to SIU Academy for viewing at any time. eSERIES eSeries offer urologists the opportunity to watch presentations given by eminent speakers on a variety of important topics and hot issues in urology. Viewers also have the opportunity to post questions and discuss the content with other users using the “Ask the Forum” feature. ENDORSED EVENTS In collaboration with other urological societies, SIU hosts the live streaming of meetings or workshops focusing on specific urological topics via SIU Academy. The portal includes recorded videos from these SIU-endorsed events, as well as expert interviews to meet the broad educational needs of our geographically diverse membership.

BENCH TO BEDSIDE (B2B)

SIU proposes a unique program that will offer urologists an engaging way to learn translational research and how it applies in urology. The interaction of several disciplines is required to translate knowledge from bench to bedside. Therefore, this unique program will be based on a blended learning method in which traditional curricular elements are combined with non-traditional approaches. The main objective is to engage in a multidisciplinary approach to learning, in order to develop an understanding across disciplines.

Appendix D uCARE

The Société Internationale d’Urologie (SIU) believes great innovations require strong collaboration, and that the best advancements happen through teamwork. Over the course of the last year, the SIU has diligently been working on developing uCARE—a new platform for global clinical research in urology. This novel research platform includes four major components:

1. Clinical trial listings. 2. Leading research projects, including registries. 3. Publications that report results from the different research in the field of uro-oncology. 4. eHealth with the development of specific mobile app’s related to urological care.

Designed with partnerships in mind, the SIU has structured the governance of uCARE to include a Research Council, its function will be to lead and cooperate on large scale international research activities. The council will be open to the societies that engage with SIU’s group membership activities, as this ensures proper representation from the respective societies and their country. You will find an illustration of the governance structure on page 2. Partners will be asked to nominate one member of their association to the uCARE Research Council. The candidate should be aware of their nomination, accept to be designated and agree to the conditions stipulated in this document. Furthermore, the candidate must be able to regularly attend council meetings (either in person or by web video conferencing), and should have the following qualifications:

Experience in urological research, supported by their CV.

Has been involved/worked with large datasets.

Has the ability to coordinate research activities between the SIU and their Society or Association.

Is able to attend the SIU Annual meetings (next meeting is October 4-7, 2018 in Seoul, South Korea). The two research directors chairing uCARE will make a final decision about the candidate. Following reception of your proposal, a confirmation will be communicated to the nominee along with the next steps.
