Functions of the APNIC EC
• Represent the interests of Members in the governance of APNIC
• Oversight of the activities of APNIC • To consider broad Internet policy issues for APNIC’s
strategic direction • To set membership fees • To endorse the policy consensus toward implementation
Meeting Schedule
• The EC meets at regularly scheduled quarterly face-to-face meetings
• We believe that this allows the EC to consider matters in more depth and provide considered and thoughtful leadership to the APNIC community
EC Meetings (since APNIC 36)
Meetings: • 4-6 December 2013 (EC Retreat, Brisbane) • 24 February 2014 (Petaling Jaya, APNIC37)
All meeting minutes can be found on EC web site:

APNIC Strategic Plan
• The EC has endorsed a Five Year Strategic Plan to focus efforts on our mission
• It includes specific activities to focus on: – Serving Members – Supporting the Asia Pacific region – Collaborating with the Internet Community – Supporting APNIC as a resilient organization capable of meeting our
community obligations
Financial Objectives • We have been considering what is a prudent financial policy
for APNIC to ensure the stability of APNIC’s functions.
• We have set an immediate objective of maintaining at a minimum a cash reserve position equivalent to 12 months of operating expenses, and building this reserve to an 18 month position by 2017
• We are currently operating with a reserve position of approximately 15 - 16 months of operating expenses
• We are achieving this objective primarily through expenditure constraint rather than increasing membership fees in future budgets
Fees
• One of the roles of the EC is to set member fees
• The current fee schedule will remain unchanged for membership and services for 2014
• The EC has considered the implementation of Policy Proposal 107 (Transfer of ASNs) and has determined that: – Registration of ASN transfers shall be accessible to current account
holders of APNIC – No fee is payable for registration of ASN transfers between APNIC
members – For inter-RIR transfers involving an APNIC account holder, the APNIC
account holder will be charged a fee of 20% of the annual Associate Membership Fee to register the transfer.
RPKI Services
• Currently, access to RPKI services in APNIC is limited to current members of APNIC
• We have received a request to consider allowing all entities holding resources in the APNIC registry to access RPKI services
• We would like to reiterate the previous undertaking APNIC made to holders of resources in historical address registries that were transferred into the APNIC registry, that APNIC will maintain these historical registry records on an “as is” basis at no cost
• A considerable amount of APNIC members’ funds have been invested in developing RPKI services. Access to RPKI services is a benefit to APNIC members, and we encourage historic resource holders who wish to access these services to become current members of APNIC
“Internet Governance”
• Closely following developments which may affect APNIC
• Continue contributing APNIC expertise in IG discussions
• Approved extra support for IGF 2013 (Bali)
• Supported and endorsed Montevideo Statement
• Session scheduled during AMM today
Appointment to the NRO Number Council • The EC appoints one member to the Number council for a
one year term
• This year we are happy to announce the appointment of Aftab Siddiqui to this position
• We would like to thank Andy Linton for his service in this role for the period 2012 - 2013
APNIC Member Survey
• We will be conducting the biennial APNIC Member Survey through 2014 – We will be convening a number of focus group meetings across the
region in the coming months to capture current issues and concerns from members
– The survey will run from 9 June to 11 July – Please support this valuable feedback program by providing us with
your views on what we are doing well and where we can do more
Meeting Planning
• The EC has adopted a meeting planning schedule that ensures APRICOT and APNIC meetings are held throughout the region in successive years

Member Engagement

• We strive to improve the ways in which we: • Understand and respond to the needs of our members • Work efficiently and effectively in our core functions of responsible
address administration and accurate registry management • Engage with the broader Internet Governance forums to ensure that
Asia Pacific voices are an integral part of the process • Deliver value to our members and clients
