MINNESOTA APICS CHAPTER
It is that time of year when we let the Minnesota
State University, Mankato, student chapter organize the
PDM. This year they plan on presenting several
different aspects of some of the facilities and equipment
used to further their educational development. They
will also demonstrate some of the accomplishments they
have achieved during this educational process.
Following the tour, several students will present
the study that was used to support the student papers
that were turned in for the APICS sponsored student
paper competition.
This is a chance to see where your educational tax
dollars are being spent, and the benefits being received
as these students prepare to go on to face the challenges
of a very competitive economy.

The President’s Corner
April President’s Corner
OK, it is hard to believe that we are coming close to the end our our program
year. But, we still have a few interesting tricks up our sleeve.
Remember that April 17, a Tuesday, is the next PDM date. The students will
be hosting us for tours and presentations. It should be a fun time as the
students bring an energy we have all forgotten we ever had! And it is a good,
big crowd, if one can forecast from last year. So, please plan on joining us
for our PDM in Mankato. Directions will be elsewhere in the newsletter.
And, we have our management night slated for our May PDM. So, start
bugging the boss and bring them along. Like we have done in the past, all
bosses will be free of charge, but you don’t need to tell them that. Let them
think you are treating, unless of course you might think it would impact any
raises you may get this year! And the speaker will be very intriguing. You
know we have done a lot of lean topics, but Tom will focus on lean for the
administrative section of a business, maybe just what the boss wants to hear.
So, keep May 14 available and bring the boss.
Also, on May 15, we are hosting a ½ day seminar (afternoon) with Stevie
Ray. From all that I have heard, this will be a very educational and fun
experience. It will be held in Owatonna, but at the Historical Center, not
Torey’s. See details in the newsletter, but really, this should be a very good
½ day session. We wanted to keep it a bit shorter to see if that helped you all
in attending. So, help make our experiment a success.
One final thing, we will have our annual survey ready for you by the April
PDM. It is really important that you take a few minutes to fill this out. We
really do use it as we plan for next’s years PDMs. The Board of Directors
does try to make sure our PDM topics are timely and interesting. And if you
don’t like what we have listed as potential subjects, just do a write in
comment. It does work for us.
And if you are interested in a BOD position (extra maintenance points!), let
any Board member know. See you in Mankato.
