APES ~OURNAL RUBRIC This journal is like a portfolio of your thoughts! Using a standard composition or spiral notebook, put your name on the first page and leave the 2 nd page blank for a table of contents. Please have your journals with you every day in class and carry them with you when convenient. They will be picked up the second Friday after progress reports. Include the following for each 6 weeks grading period: A) 4 Current Event Articles (20 points each) ./ Pertaining to environmental science ./ Published within the last year ./ Sources include news magazines, science magazines, newspaper, websites ./ Min. 1 paragraph summary, 2 paragraph "reaction" ./ Tape/staple/glue the article to the left page and write your summary reaction on the facing page the following information: 1. Citation: Author, Date, Title, Source (include URL) 2. One paragraph: Abstract or summary (describe what the article is saying) 3. One paragraph: Reaction (discuss the SCIENCE of the article: why is this article/info/problem relevant or interesting, and who does it affect, do you agree with the author or not, why?)
