This application guide provides APC equipment recommendations for enclosures, rack power distribution, and cable management to best solve the unique needs of the HP BladeSystem c7000.
600mm Wide Rack SolutionsAPC’s new AP7866 and AP7856 are the first and onlyvertical-mount zero-U rack power distribution units available which permit standard installation in a 600mm (24”) wide enclosure while permitting full access to HP BladeSystem c7000 hot swap blade components.
HP BladeSystem requires clearance within rear enclosure space to access hot swap blade modules
PROBLEM

• HP states the following power consumption levels for the BladeSystem c7000 chassis– 7.8kW Faceplate – 5kW Peak – 4kW Average power consumption/chassis
• HP Rack PDU Recommendations– International 32A 3-phase (230V):
(4) BladeSystem chassis PDU– North America 60A 3-phase (208V):
(3) BladeSystem chassis without power capping– However, HP also recommends that power
capping to 4kW per chassis is possible with minimal impact on performance
• APC recommends the use of (4) chassis per AP7866 as an effective solution for North America in this configuration
