Senior Youth Theatre (15-18 years)Tuesdays 6.30pm-9pm The Lemon Tree

With funding from Cultural Grants this year this group will beworking with an established playwright developing a newly-commissioned piece of theatre which will explore stigmasattached to mental health.

The piece will be performed at The Lemon Tree before beingtaken to the National Festival of Youth Theatre Cost £60 for January – June

Young Actor’s Programme (18-21 years)Mondays 6.30pm-9pm The Lemon Tree

Programme runs from 21 Jan to 1 July (three week break 1- 15April) with a showcase Thursday 4 and Friday 5 July at TheLemon Tree

Our Young Actor’s Programme is designed to develop specialistskills in performers looking to pursue acting as a career. Thegroup will work on developing skills in physical theatre, devisingfrom stimulus, working from contemporary texts and vocal workto create a showcase.

Entrance onto the programme will be done through an openaudition process.

This year the programme will also include a workshop withFrantic Assembly and vocal coach Jacquie Crago (Oxford Schoolof Drama, Royal Shakespeare Company and Warhorse)

Cost £80 for the full programme Jan -July 2013

APA GLEEInterested in developing your vocal and performance skills?

Our Glee groups will sing popular chart songs, focusing onclose harmony and developing their own arrangements ofmusic, working towards a showcase of their work in June.

Junior Glee (eight to 11 years)Saturdays 1.30pm-3pm

Senior Glee (12-16 years)Saturdays 3.30pm-5pmHis Majesty’s Theatre, Education Studio Term 1 – Sat 26 Jan to Sat 30 March Term 2 – Sat 20 April to Sat 22 June Cost £80 per term

APA Young Person’s CompanyThis production group works on APA’s projects with internationalcollaborative partners. Previous projects have included exchangeswith young people in Regensburg, Stavanger and San Francisco.

Auditions are held on a project by project basis and are open tomembers of our Young People’s Theatre programme.

Our Youth Advisory Board gives young people an effective voicewithin Aberdeen Performing Arts and enables them to bepowerful advocates for the arts within the wider community ofthe North-east.

It also gives young people the chance to meet and learn aboutthe work of the APA team and young people will have access tomentoring opportunities and advice on career pathways withinthe industry.

For young people taking their first stepsinto performance this group focuses ondeveloping confidence and creativity.

Cost £30 per term

APA Create (eight to 11 years) Saturdays 11.30am -12.30amHis Majesty’s Theatre, Education Studio Nurtures and explores creative skills inyoung people to work towards a sharing forfriends and family. Term 1 – Sat 26 Jan to Sat 30 MarchTerm 2 – Sat 20 April to Sat 22 June This group is supported by funding fromthe Big Fund Young Start Programme,which is part of a wider youth theatredevelopment initiative and is run free ofcharge to participants.

Working towards a production in June thegroup will be generating a devised pieceof theatre, based on our instant celebrityculture.

Weekly sessions are designed to build confidence, enable participants tolearn new skills in performance and make new and lasting friendship in afun-filled environment.
