European History – 10th grade only.
A history of Western Civilization-1350s-1990s.
United States History – 11th grade only. 1490s-1990s
US Government – 12th grade only.
Year long study of the operation of US, state, & local governments with college preparatory Macroeconomics embedded into the study of government.
Psychology –12th grade only. Elective. Psychological facts, principles, and phenomena associated with each of the major subfields within psychology.

Daily Assignments
The daily work in and out of class in AP English course can be extensive at times. Expect more than one hour per day of reading, writing, and/or other activities that pertain to the class.
There is an expectation that student work is completed on time and with a level of sophistication and maturity that reflect the rigor of the class.

Gaining Perspective
AP English Language & Composition engages students in becoming skilled readers of prose written in a variety of rhetorical contexts, and in becoming skilled writers who compose for a variety of purposes.
Both their writing and their reading should make students aware of the interactions among a writer’s purposes, audience expectations, and subjects, as well as the way genre conventions and the resources of language contribute to effectiveness in writing.
Summer Assignment
In years past, the assignment has focused
on the bridge between fiction and non-
fiction. Memoirs, poetry, fiction, have all
been utilized in the past.
Students should also read the course text
(Chapters 1-3) with attention to the
foundations of rhetoric.
AP English Literature &
Composition Syllabus
Much of our course work involves in-depth style analysis in the
literary genres of poetry, novels, drama, and short stories.
AP English is a skills-based class
Timed, in-class essays and ongoing literary device analyses.
Varied writing assignments - expository, personal,
persuasive, creative, imitative, close reading/passage
analysis activities.

A Greek tragedy
Dialectical Journals from a novel of literary merit
(Pick from a list of classic & contemporary literature that often shows up on the AP test and survey courses of literature in college)
Annotations of often-anthologized poems from all the major literary eras: Renaissance to 21st Century.
*Journals & poetry annotations will be due the first day of school.
**During the first week, there will be an AP style test on the Greek tragedy, as well as an in-class essay on the novel
AP Spanish Course
Description
Course taught completely in Spanish.
HOMEWORK:
Students will have homework every day. The load of homework will go from moderate to Heavy. A good amount of homework includes: Writing a short essay; doing 3 or 4 grammar exercises and memorizing a list of vocabulary.
PARTICIPATION IN CLASS: (class work):
Includes: Oral Practice; Oral Presentations: Listening Comprehension exercises; Grammar Drills; Reading or Correction of Essays; Reading Comprehension questions; Debates or Discussions & Vocabulary Practice. Extra Participation points will be given for Tutoring students from lower levels.

1-2 Graded Essays & 4 Essays corrected in class

AB and BC Differences
First year college calculus is split into 3 quarters: A, B,
and C.
AB covers the first 2/3 of the curriculum, and BC
covers the second 2/3.
Students choose one course, not both.
Neither the CollegeBoard nor college professors of
mathematics recommend that a student take both AB
and BC.

AP Stats Course Description
Presents the topic outline, which is divided into four sections. Percentages are approximate coverage in the AP Stats Exam. They sum to greater than 100% because many questions can be cross-classified.

AP CHEMISTRY
OVERVIEW
AP Chemistry is a second year
course equivalent to college level
general chemistry.
College Chemistry is required for
most science majors including pre-
med and all other health
professions.

EXPECTATIONS
Extensive lab experience with
typed lab reports in laboratory
notebook.
Homework requires 45 minutes to
over an hour per night on average
depending on the student.
There is no summer assignment.
AP CHEMISTRY
PREPARATION Completion of Chemistry Honors with a grade of
mid-B or better, and successful completion of Algebra II.
Students who earned a solid grade of A and excelled with ease in Chemistry 1P may enroll in AP Chemistry, but should be aware that more time may be required to learn material previously covered in Chemistry Honors.
