AbstractThe purpose of this experiment was to study therelationship between surface area and heat transferrate. A Calorimeter was used to control theexperiment to closed system. Then, the

instantaneous quantities of heat between the hotwater and 5 Copper sheets that their surface areas
were 15,7.5,3.75,1.875 0.9375 cm2 wascalculated until heat transferred was complete . It wasfound that when heat transferred was completed , thequantities of flown heat were approximatly equaled to8783.264 J. It could be explained by formula Q=mct.
The results were analyzed and shown that the heattransfer rate was directly proportional to surface area.
This conformed to Newton's Law of Cooling which this
law was shown by equation as follows. q=hA
t when qwas heat flow in input or lost heat flow, h was heattransfer coefficient, A was heat transfer surface areaand t was difference in temperature between thesolid surface and surrounding fluid area.
