General informationAcomfortableatmosphereindoorsisreachedwitharela-tivehumidity levelbetween40and60%.Yourhumidifierautomaticallycontrolsthehumiditylevelaccordingtothedesiredsetting.Iftheairistoodry,thehumidifierwillauto-maticallyswitchon.Assoonasthedesiredhumiditylevelisreached,itwillswitchoff.

Unpacking• Carefullyremovethehumidifierfromthebox.Placeyourhandsunderneaththeproducttopullitoutofthebox(10).

• Warning:Donottaketheunitoutoftheboxbypullinguponthetankhandle-basemayfallandwillbeda-maged(11).

•Removetheplasticbagfromthehumidifier.• Observetheinformationgivenontheratingplateaboutthevoltage.

en Setting upFindingtheideallocationforyourunit:• Donotplacethehumidifierdirectlynexttoaheatingventoronafloorwithfloorheating.Themoistureofthemistcandamagethefloorsurface(6)(seeSafetyInstructions).

• Theunitshouldbeplacedinanelevatedposition(7),e.g.onatable,chest,etc.atleast3ftoffthefloor.

• Themistoutletmustnotbepointeddirectlyatplants,furniture,orotherobjects(12).Keepdistanceofatleast20inches(50cm).

• Soakthedemineralizationcartridgeinawaterbath24hoursbeforeusingit(13).Thegranuleshavetoabsorbwatertoreachmaximumperformance.Ifthecartridgeissoakedinthetank,makesuretoexchangethewaterandemptythewaterfromthebasebeforeusingthehumidifier.

• Onaveragethedemineralizationcartridgeshouldbereplacedevery2–3monthsdependingonyourwaterhardness.Someareasmayneedtoreplacethecart-ridgesooner,somemaylastlonger.Thecartridgemustbeexchangedatthelatestafter6monthsortheunitdoesnotreachitsfullperformanceanymore.

• Placethewatertankontothebase.• Inserttheplugintothesocketandswitchontheapplianceusingtheon/offdial(18and19).

• About10to15minutesafteritisswitchedonthede-vicewillreachitsfulloutputlevel.

• Makesurethatthecableisnotpinchedanywhere(9).Donotoperatethehumidifierifthecableisdamaged(2).

14Filling the tankAlways unplug the unit before removing thewatertank.Donottouchthewaterinthebaseduringoperation!

Toprotecthealth safetyandproper humidi-fierfunctionuseonlyclean,contamination-free,cold,freshtapwaterinyourhumidifier.Ifyour

watersourceiscontaminatedorifyouareuncertainofitssafetyusedistilledwater.

Do not operate the humidifier when the water tank isempty!When thewater reaches theminimum level, theunitswitchesoffthenebulizerfunctionautomatically.Theemptyindicatorlightcomesonshowingtankisempty.

•Removethewatertankfromthebaseandunscrewthewatertankcap(14).

• Makesurethatnoforeignobjectsareinthewatertank.

• Fillthetankwithclean,coldwaterfromthetap(15).Closethecapofthewatertanksecurely,placethewa-tertankontothebase(16).Thewaterisnowrunningfromthetankintothebase.

• Donotpourwaterintothemistoutletoftheappliance(17).

• Inserttheplugintothesocket(18)andswitchontheapplianceusingtheon/offdial(19).Theemptyindi-catorlightmaystayilluminatedforsomesecondsuntilthebaseisfilledwithwater.

Do not use additivesWater additives (ethereal/essential oils, fragrances,eucalyptus, water conditioners, etc.) must not be used!Evenasmallamountcancausecracksinthematerial.Thematerialisn’tmadefortheuseofsuchadditives.Onedropisenoughtodamagethetankandasaconsequencetheunit.Anyuseofsuchadditiveswillvoidthemanufacturer’swarranty.

A) On/Off Dial and regulation of mist outputTurning the rotary dial clockwise switches the applianceonandat thesame time regulates themistoutput fromlowtohigh.

B) Hygrostat (setting the humidity level)Thedesiredhumiditylevelcanbesetbyturningtherotaryswitchclockwise.Arelativehumiditybetween40and60%isrecommended.Youcanachievethislevelbyrotatingtheswitchuntilitisroughlyintheverticalposition.Theaccu-racyofmeasurement is+/-5%.Theunitwill switchoffwhenthemoisturelevelexceedsthedesiredsetting.Theappliancedoesnotswitchoffiftheswitchisturnedalltheway to the right.Thisactivates thecontinuousoperationfunction.

C) Empty indicator (red)Thewaterleveliseasytosee,thankstothetransparentwatertank.Theappliancealsoalertsyouwhenthewa-tertankisempty.Theredemptyindicatorisilluminated(symbolC).Pleasereadthechapter«Fillingthetank»formoreinformation.TheredsymbolCmaystayilluminatedforsomesecondswitharefilledtankuntilthebaseisfilledwithwater.

A) On/Off ButtonYoucanswitchtheunitonoroffbypressingbuttonA.Thisbuttonisalsousedtoresetthecleaningindicatorlight(byholdingdown).

B) Hygrostat (setting the humidity level)BypressingbuttonByoucansetthedesiredhumiditylevelfrom30%to80%orCO(continuousoperation).Arelativehumiditybetween40and60%isrecommended.Theac-curacyofmeasurementis+/-5%.Theunitwillswitchoffwhenthemoisturelevelexceedsthedesiredsetting.Duringselectionthetargetvalueisdisplayed(symbol DESIRED).Thedisplaywillautomaticallyshowthecurrentvalueafterafewseconds(symbol CURRENT).

C) TimerUsing button C, the operation time can be set adjusta-blebetween1and8hoursorCO(continuousoperation).Symbol Gshowstheoperatingperiodthathasbeenset(1h/2h/3h/4h/5h/6h/7h/8h/CO).Thedisplaywillautomati-callyshowthecurrenthumidityafterafewseconds.

D) Mist output (regulating mist output)ByrepeatedlypressingbuttonDyoucancontrolthemistoutput.Symbol H showswhichof the three levels (low/medium/high)youhaveselected.

E) Operation with pre-heating (warm mist)ButtonEisusedforswitchingthepre-heatingonandoff(symbol Ilightsup).Asaresult,thewaterispre-heatedtoa temperatureof176°F (80 °C) beforeentering thenebulizerspace.Ittakesapprox.10to15minutesforthewater in thebase towarmup.Themistnow leaves thehumidifieratapleasanttemperatureof104°F(40°C).Theadvantageof this is that the roomtemperaturedoesnotdrop and, in addition, it significantly improves thewaterqualitymaintenance.

F) Automatic mode and Sleep modeTheautomaticandsleepmodescanbeactivatedbypres-singbuttonF.Bypressingthebuttononce,theautomaticfunctionisswitchedon(symbol Jappearsonthedisplay),maintainingtheoptimumhumiditysubjecttothetempera-ture.Controltakesplacebymeansofoutputquantityandpre-settargetvalue.Bypressingthebuttontwice,thesleepfunctionisswitchedon(symbol Kappearsonthedisplay),thetargethumidityis50–65%;theoperationtimeissetat6hoursandtheheatingisswitchedon.Inaddition,theoutputquantityisalsocontrolledsubjecttothedifferencebetweenthetargetvalueandtheactualvalue.Thehygrostatandmistoutputsettingscannotbechangedineithermode.IfthebuttonsBorDarepressed,theunitwillnolongerbeinautoorsleepmode.

EZCalfromAIR-O-SWISSistheonlyrecommen-dedcleaninganddescalingsolution.DoNOTuseanyothercleaningsolutionssinceitcandamagetheproduct.AnyuseofcleaningsolutionsapartfromEZCalwillvoidthewarranty.

• Makesuremainbodyisneversubmergedinwater(24)!

• AOS7147:Thecleaningindicatorstillappearsonthedisplayaftercleaning.ToresetitholddowntheON/OFFbuttonuntilthecleanlightdisappears.

Water quality maintenanceTheAIR-O-SWISSHydro Stick 7017 keepsAIR-O-SWISShumidifiersoperatingat theirhighest levelbetween rec-ommendedcleanings*.Goodforoneyear,theHydroStickensuresthehumidifier’sfunctionalitywhileprovidingfreshhumidificationperformance.It starts towork as soon as it comes in to contactwithwater,eveniftheunitisturnedoff.TheHydroStickshouldbe changed every year. Look at picture 28 for the posi-tionoftheHydroStickinthebasepartoftheunit.Donottouchthewaterinthebaseduringoperation!Switchofftheunitfirst.Contactyourlocalretailerorcheckourwebsitewww.airoswiss.net for reorder information. The replace-mentHydroStickcomeswithametallicclipwhichisnotneededfortheplacementinthisproducttype.

•Removetheplasticcupandthepinkstyrofoampiecefromthecartridge(38)andretainforfutureuse(therefillgranulesconsistsof3refillbags)(39).

•Closethecartridge(40).•Soakthedemineralizationcartridgeinawaterbath 24hoursbeforeusingit(43).Thegranuleshavetoabsorbwatertoreachmaximumperformance.Ifthecartridgeissoakedinthetank,makesuretoexchangethewaterandemptythewaterfromthebasebeforeusingthehumidifier.

Placinggranules in thecenterof thecartridgeallowsthemtoescapeintheunitortoclogtheunit.Theunitwillnolongeroperateproperlyandthegranulesneedtobecleanedoutthoroughly.

Option B: replace the whole cartridge•Removethewatertankfromthebaseandunscrewthewatertankcap(30).

•Thedemineralizationcartridgeisattachedtothetankcap.Unscrewthecartridgefromthecapbyturningitcounter-clockwise(31).Important:doNOTdisposeofthewatertankcap!

• Throwthewholecartridgeintothewaste(41).•Unpackthenewcartridge(42).•Soakthedemineralizationcartridgeinawaterbath24hoursbeforeusingit(43).Thegranuleshavetoabsorbwatertoreachmaximumperformance.Ifthecartridgeissoakedinthetank,makesuretoexchangethewaterandemptythewaterfromthebasebeforeusingthehumidifier.

•Screwthecartridgeonthewatertankcap(44).Closetankcapwellandplacethetankonthemainbody(45).

Replacement of the demineralization cartridge

Always unplug the unit before removing thewatertank.Donottouchthewaterinthebaseduringoperation!

Thewater tank is equippedwith a demineralization cart-ridge.Thiscartridgehastobereplacedevery2–3months.Ifthewaterisveryhard,itmaybenecessarytoreplacethecartridgeearlier.Whitedustaroundthedeviceisasuresignthatthecartridgeneedsreplacing.Ifwhiteresiduestillformsaroundthedeviceafteranewcartridgehasbeeninserted,pleasemakesurethatthewateryouareusingisuntreated.Ifthewaterflowsthroughadecalcificationsystem–suchasanionexchanger–(sodiumisaddedtoremovecalcium)inthebuildingbeforeitisusedinthehumidifier,saltcanpre-cipitateaswhitedustaroundthedevice.Thedemineralizationcartridge or the granulesmust be exchangedat the latestafter6monthsortheunitdoesnotreachitsfullperformanceanymore.

Option A: replace the granules•Removethewatertankfromthebaseandunscrewthewatertankcap(30).

•Thedemineralizationcartridgeisattachedtothetankcap.Unscrewthecartridgefromthecapbyturningitcounter-clockwise(31).Important:doNOTdisposeofthewatertankcap!

•Openthecartridge(32).•Throwthecontentintothewaste(Attention!Disposedgranulescanmakethefloorslippery!)(33).

•Placetheenclosedpinkstyrofoampieceinthecenterofthecartridge.Donotpushittothebottomasitwillbedifficulttoremoveafterwards(34).

•Pourthecontentsofonerefillgranulesbagintotheplasticcupthatisincludedwiththerefillgranulespa-ckaging(35).

•Placetheemptycartridgewiththepluginthecenterontotheplasticcup(36).

Q.Why isn’t there enough moisture in my room?A. Howoftendoyouruntheunit?Iftheunitisonlyrunatnight,thenduringthedaythemoisturelevelwilldropifmoistureisnotconstantlyaddedtotheair.

Q.Do you leave your door open or closed when the unit is running?

A. a) Byleavingthedooropen,thisallowsmoisturetoleavetheroomandgointootherareasofthehouse.Ifyouwouldlikethemoisturetostaywithinonespecificroomyoushouldconsiderclosingthedoorwhiletheunitisrunning.

A. b)Wood,leather,carpet,curtains,andothertypesoffabricsoakupalotofmoisture,thusnotleavingenoughmoisturefortheair.Ifthewindowisleftopen,thenthisallowsmoisturetoescapetheroom.Anotherfactorisalotoftimestheunitisplacednexttoaheatingdevice.Theideaisthattheairblowingintotheroomwillquicklyplacemoisturearoundtheroom.Unfortunately,thisconceptdoesnotworkbecausethehotaircomingoutofaventwillsoakupmostofthemoisture,andnoneoftheairwithintheroomwillreceiveany.

Q.How much moisture do I need in my room?A. Suggestedhumiditylevelsarebetween40–60%.

Q.What are the effects of too little or too much humidity?

A. Dryaircancausedryskin,staticelectricity,outoftunemusicalinstruments,increasedlevelsofdust(dryaircausesdusttorise),damagetowoodenobjects(dryoutandeventuallycracksappear),discomfort,sick-ness,anddriesoutnasalmembranes.

Q.Why do I need a humidifier when I can just open my window?

Q.Why does it say open/close on the demineralization cartridge cap?

A. Thosedirectionsarethereincaseyoudecidetousetherefilloptiontoreplacethegranules;thepurposeisforhowtoopenandclosethecap.Ifyoudidopenthecapbeforeplacingitinthewatertank,youwillmostlikelynoticethattherearegranulesinthewatertankandthebaseoftheunit.Immediatelyturnofftheunit,andemptythewateroutofthebaseandthewatertank.Beginremovingallgranulesfrombaseandwatertank.Usebrushtocleanaroundmembrane.Caution:Donotdisposeofgranulesinsink!Usedgranulesmustgoinwaste!

Q. I just replaced my cartridge, and the contents and water in the base has turned a blue-green color.

A. Thissometimesoccurswhenthecartridge,oreventhegranules,arereplaced.Thisdoesnotoccurwithallreplacementcartridgesorgranules,andisareactionofwatercontentandtheUltrasonicvibrations.Thisisnotanindicatortoreplacethecartridge.

Q.There is no fill-line on the water tank, how far may I fill it up?

A. Thereisnofilllineonthewatertank,anditmaybefilledallthewaytothetop.

Q.What is the purpose of the demineralization cart-ridge (DMC)?

A. TheDMCremovesmineralsfromthewatertopreventwhitedust.Thecontentsofthecartridgeneedtobeso-akedfor24hrspriortofirstusingtheunitsothattheymayfullyexpandandremovemineralsfromthewater.ThecontentsoftheDMChavealifeof2–3months.Thecartridgemayneedtobereplacedmoreoftendependingonwaterhardnessandhowoftentheunitisused.AnindicationofwhentheDMCneedstobechangedcanbewhitedustorreducedamountofmistoutput.

Q. Is it ok to use distilled water with the unit?A. Forbestresultswithyourultrasonichumidifierusedistilledorreverse-osmosiswaterandremovethedemineralizationcartridge.

Q. I just replaced the contents of the cartridge and now have granules everywhere.

A. First,makesuretherearenogranulesinthemiddleofthecartridge.PlacinggranulesinthemiddleoftheDMCallowsthemtoescapeintheunit.Immediatelyturnofftheunit,andemptythewateroutofthebaseandthewatertank.Beginremovingallgranulesfrombaseandwatertank.Usebrushtocleanaroundmembrane.Caution:Donotdisposeofgranulesinsink!Usedgranulesmustgoinwaste!

•Exchangethedemineralizationcartridgeafter1-2monthswhenyouuseveryhardwater(forsofterwaterafter2-3months).Nomatterhowhardyourwateris,exchangethecartridgeattheverylatestafter6months.
