Hello all HHYC members, As I sit here on the last day of August writing this letter, I have to say it has been one of the best summers that I can remember. Since the July Newsletter, there have been a couple of great HHYC events. The 3rd of July at Poulsbo was fun with great fireworks. Although there was no raft, there were a number of HHYC folks were there along with many other boats. It was a wonderful way to spend the holiday with lots of northwest boaters. The weekend of July 9th, we had a small rendezvous at Point Hudson. It started with a Salmon dinner on the Too Cool Runnings. Saturday we did some fun shopping at the farmers market in Port Townsend followed by wonderful tour of the Northwest Maritime Center. Our tour guides, George (in his 90’s) and Joan Thompson, were very knowledgeable on the history of the center and provided a very entertaining tour. We also got to use the pilot simulator. Watching our crew try to enter Bell Street Marina in 5 foot seas was entertaining. Saturday evening included slow cooked brisket and as I recall lots of “cards against humanity”. Although we only had a couple of boats, the rendezvous was great.

August 13th was the annual Kitsap wine festival. Once again the weather was beautiful. The festivities started on Friday night with drinks and food at Anthony’s. Saturday was all about the wine festival. I did find time to take the foot ferry over to the farmers market for $5 flower bouquets. Sue Collins joined us. Spent Saturday night and a ride on Too Cool Runnings back to Seattle in the fog Sunday morning. The festival was outstanding with great wine and food. As an extra bonus, we got to enjoy all weekend the sea battles of some tall ships over in Port Orchard. Thanks to Earl and Leslie and Paul and Patty for their work in coordinating this special event. The next event will be the Crab festival at Anacortes over Labor Day weekend. This looks to be another fun event. I want to thank Larry and Keli Parrett and Mike and Sue Burke for hosting this event. Currently there are 16 boats attending. Activities include the crab derby on Saturday followed by dinner at H2O and on Sunday a dinghy cruise to La Conner for lunch. I can hardly wait. Other upcoming events this year include Halloween at Poulsbo and November 12th Pay your dues party. I hope to see everyone enjoy the fun.

Please join us at Tutta Bella on September 13th for the board meeting. Finally, please be safe out on the water this fall and continue to enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest waters.

See you there Mary Scott, Commodore
