“Moving Forward, Giving Back” Global Business Summit and Reunion 2016

The Federal Government College of Enugu Alumni Association (AFGCEAA) is a 501(c)(3) organized and dedicated to fostering a strong and enduring relationship between Federal Government College Enugu (FGCE) and its alumni and friends. We were founded to preserve and promote the principles of the school via networking and mentoring opportunities; Regional, international, and affinity association’s alumni chapters; Educational programs; and other forms of communication and outlets. AFGCEAA provides funding for educational programs, scholarships and structural improvements that enhance the lives of current and future students of FGCE, inspiring its members to extend these charitable efforts to their local communities across the United States of America, Canada & the Americas. We typically adopt a local charity for each of our events as part of our commitment to also give back to the communities within which we live and work. FGCE traces its roots back to 1973 in the aftermath of Nigeria’s civil war, and was established as one of many Unity Schools in Nigeria for high performing students recruited from different parts of Nigeria. The purpose of these Unity Schools was to create an educational melting pot within which future leaders are raised celebrate the diversity of Nigerian culture, and bridge gaps across cultural, tribal, language and religious lines. The Unity school experiment was founded on the motto of “Pro Unitate” has been a largely successful effort with prominent alumni such as governors, ministers, industry executives and other highly placed individuals of society. AFGCEAA is looking for strong partnerships from interested parties - corporations, non-profits, and individuals. Of the tens of thousands of alumni living across the U.S., Africa, Europe, Asia and worldwide, many rank as the world's leading professionals in business, medicine, law, engineering, art, and education. By sponsoring AFGCE Alumni Association events, you'll have an excellent opportunity to access this broad and affluent demographic. By partnering with us, you'll be reaching out to and supporting a robust and diverse demographic in their good works effort across the United States and in Nigeria.

• Expecting upwards of 500 alumni, staff, and family members of the Federal Government

College of Enugu College. • An audience that spans Baby Boomers to Millennials • Highly educated with disposable income

FGCE G.I.V.E.S. Generosity, Impact, Volunteerism, Empowerment and Service

AFGCEAA partners with local charities in the U.S. as part of our organizational charter to also give back to the communities within which we live, work, and do business. With large alumni populations in the Washington DC, New York City Metropolitan, Boston, Atlanta, Chicago and Los Angeles areas, AFGCEAA under the F.G.C.E. G.I.V.E.S (Generosity, Impact, Volunteerism, Empowerment, and Service) Program is involved in community service, mentoring, volunteering and philanthropic initiatives. G.I.V.E.S aim to improve quality of life in urban areas while playing a personal role as professionals and good citizens to positively add to the global narrative of the Nigerian experience in the diaspora. Our Alumni Chapters partner with food banks, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, elderly homes, youth community organizations and religious charities across the US to positively give back to the communities within which we operate, live, work and own businesses. This year AFGCEAA is adopting the Houston Food Bank (http://www.houstonfoodbank.org/) as a partner in their fight against hunger. In 2016, AFGCEAA is formalizing the FGCE G.I.V.E.S Program as a global foundation and endowment fund to harness a global network of accomplished professionals who are committed to making a positive difference in world. The foundation will work to tackle societal needs that present barriers to achieving the full human potential like food, clothing, shelter and education. It will focus on underserved communities in Africa and the U.S., and will leverage the Unity School Alumni network and its resources to partner with NGO’s and policy makers in the US and Africa in achieving smart social conscience objectives. AFGCEAA is looking for partners who can join us on this exciting journey of civic and community service that spans two continents to make a positive contribution. Join us as a corporate, community or individual sponsor for our event on August 11-14, 2016. Contributions made to AFGCEAA are eligible for deduction under section 170 of the IRS Internal Revenue Code
