“The impossible is only what we do not try to do.”
Hana Soukupová, face of the Moser brandPhoto Branislav Šimončík, view through the Stones bowl
THE ART OF IMPOSSIBLE
The fine tradition of exclusively hand-crafted work with
lead-free crystal, inimitable colours and absolute mastery
of glassmaking are what make each encounter with Moser
an extraordinary experience.
Our DNA
Vase Stones, design by Lukáš Jabůrek, 2015
BIRTH OF A CRYSTAL LEGEND
Exclusive Czech Moser crystal was created more
than 160 years ago in the flourishing spa town
of Karlsbad, today‘s Karlovy Vary.
The exceptional tradition
The young engraver Ludwig Moser enchanted high society from all corners
of Europe with his richly decorated cups and goblets. Thanks to his artistic
talent and business acumen, he managed to open an engraving workshop
in 1857 and before long established his own glassworks.
Already by 1873 he had become the supplier to the court of Austro-Hungarian
Emperor Franz Joseph I. His fame was spreading rapidly not only in Vienna
but also in Paris, London, New York and other metropolises.
While most Czech and world
glassmakers have over time switched
at least partially to machine production,
Moser continues to work exclusively
by hand.
The legacy of Ludwig Moser and his
sons has been followed by generations
of Karlovy Vary glassmakers, whose art
has been honed for years at the furnaces
as well as in the grinding and engraving
workshops.
Perfect handicraft
The hands which give birth to our crystal are calloused, like
those of workers, but as gentle as those of watchmakers;
precise like the hands of surgeons and as agile as the fingers
of musical virtuosos. Without their perfect interplay,
Moser would not be Moser.
CRAFT IN THE HANDS, PASSION IN THE HEART
Each glass from the Splendid collection
requires the precise work of 36 pairs
of hands, starting with the creation
of wooden moulds by carpenters,
overnight melting of glass, blowing,
grinding, gilding, numerous polishings,
and quality control.
Not to discount the designs of Leo
Moser, who personally supervised the
collection, or the master engraver, who
according to your wishes, will decorate
your glass with a coat of arms,
or a monogram.

Every Moser glassmaker, whether he practices his “sorcery”
with a blowpipe, cuts and grinds crystal gemstones into fine
edges and magical shapes, or for long hours, days and weeks,
decorates works with oroplastics or engravings, is a master
of his craft and a true artist.
WHERE THE CRAFT ENDS, THE ART BEGINS
Glassmaking artistry
Zdeněk Drobný, master, in Moser since 1971; Vase Pear, design by Lukáš Jabůrek, 2011
In the engraving art, Ludwig Moser
found capable followers who could
create sculptured works in crystal,
turning engraving in to art with great
precision.
Their repertoire ranges from Baroque
chiaroscuro to more relaxed Renaissance
and Classicism to Art Nouveau and
dynamic modern styles. Many floral or
figural motifs are original works of art.
Vladimír Skála, Milan Holubek,
Vlastimil Selinger and Tomáš Lesser
are among the engravers who have
no equals, and their works are sought
after by collectors all over the world.
Clear crystal is formed by melting silica sand, soda, limestone and potash at temperatures
around 1400 ºC. But the greatest alchemy takes place in the preparation of coloured crystal glass.
CLEAR JEWELS AND BRILLIANT GEMS
Inimitable colours
Vases Four Seasons, design by Jiří Šuhájek, 2000
Moser works with a unique range
of colours which, thanks to strictly
guarded admixtures, are virtually
impossible to copy.
Leo Moser himself was responsible
for their development already in the
1930s, after several years of research in
Berlin laboratories. Pharmacologically
dispensed admixtures of various metal
oxides lend the crystal various colours
reminiscent of gems:
sea-lagoons inspired beryl, citrine-bright
eldor, refined romantic rosalin, honey-
golden topaz, Hellenic aquamarine or
mysterious alexandrite, changing the
mood according to the lighting.

EVEN WATER TASTES BETTER FROM MOSER
Moser produces exclusively eco-friendly, lead-free crystal.
This is considerably harder to make, and the grinding is
more difficult, but the reward is beautifully sharp edges,
wonderfully refracting light. Even seemingly simple
shapes create a magical play of lights, shadows
and reflections.

What the young Ludwig started, we continue today.
The uniqueness of special bespoke collections,
created to order according to the wishes of clients,
lends another dimension to the luxury.
WE TAKE IT PERSONALLY
Bespoke projects
It can be simply a personalization by the coat of arms or a monogram,
or the creation of a completely unique decorative set, as in the case
of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the foundation
of Czechoslovakia at Prague Castle.

Sherry glasses, design by Petr Larva and José Pizarro, 2019
Sherry glasses, custom-made for the
Spanish chef and restaurateur José
Pizarro according to the imprint of his
clasped hands, are a wonderful example
of how crystal reflects the character of
its owner. You could be one of them, too.
Notable owners of Moser crystal
Ownership of Moser crystal has always been a prestigious
matter. During the brand’s existence, countless prominent
personalities have joined the ranks of the notional Moser Family.
WELCOME TO EXCLUSIVE SOCIETY
These include not only Czech presidents Masaryk and Havel,
but also for example Queen Elizabeth II of Britain and
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Spanish kings Juan Carlos I

Moser has always had its place in the
Royal Courts of Saudi Arabian, Moroccan
and Egyptian kings, as well as the
Iranian Shah and Indian Maharajas.
Many stars of the silver screen,
music and sports celebrities, artists,
successful business people, politicians
and diplomats have all fallen in love with
Moser – in short, exceptional people,
who can appreciate the charm of the
most luxurious crystal in the world.
They include, for example
Robert Redford, Michael Douglas,
John Malkovich, Judi Dench, Pink,
Elton John and Madeleine Albright.
COME AND FALL IN LOVE
The best way to understand the uniqueness of Moser crystal
is through personal experience. We would be pleased to
welcome you both in our galleries as well as for an exclusive
