Brahms could turn a canon into a pure piece of lyrical poetry. The initial melody is called the leader (or dux), while the imitative melody, which is played in a different voice, is called the follower (or comes)). In the anthem to be sung on March 18 th , our adult choir will be singing two double canons simultaneously. It is so beautifully written that the music flows as rose petals open into full bloom. Wednesday

Women's Bible

Study ―Narnia and What Lies Beyond‖

Join Wednesday Women's Bible Study for a five-week (Feb. 21—March 21) exploration of The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis. Discover the treasure Narnia holds for adults, hear what Lewis scholars believe about the centralizing structure of the Chronicles, and meet the mysterious Aslan. We will delve into the Lenten themes woven through the books, especially The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and reflect on what lies beyond Narnia for each of us. Whether you're a long-time fan of the Chronicles, or have never read the books, you'll find this trip to Narnia enlightening and enjoyable.

RECTOR’S FORUM FEB. 18—MARCH 11

“Living Generously” We can dare to live generously because we can count on God! Thus, the early church expressed her faith by radical gener-ousity. On the other hand, Jesus taught that the consequences of not living generously would be tragic (for others and our-selves). The goal of this class is to empower us to live generously in all aspects of our lives. Dr. April Love-Fordham will be teaching this four-week series Sundays at 10:15 in the Rector’s Forum (Jeffords Hall).

“Life in the Spirit of God” with The Rev. Canon John Bolton

6:30 pm in Jeffords Hall, front half This will be a two session offering for Lenten reflection based on the gifts of the Spirit and how we experience them in daily life. Canon John will offer scriptural passages and prayers for in depth study as well as real life examples of the work of the Spirit. Underlying this approach is a concern that John has - since his meeting in Scotland with Bishop N.R. Wright - that we do not represent the Holy Spirit of God in our teaching and in our preaching sufficiently as evidence and experience of the living and real presence of Christ in our lives and in our community. 'I will send you my Spirit...who will be with you until the end of the age.'
