Rocky Mountain High 2017 Recap

After months of planning, fundraising, and high anticipation, our youth group arrived in Estes Park, CO for Rocky Mountain High 2017 along with 3,200 other people! For those of you that have attended Rocky, you know it is something special. Our students and leaders had an amaz-ing time at Rocky. Jesus revealed His love to us through large group worship, teaching, His cre-ation, fun times, laughter, honest conversation, and those around us.

This year’s theme at Rocky was RE and the passage was John 15:1-17 (read it). RE means to do or try again. To do or try something can be a one-time event. But if you Redo or Retry some-thing, you do it again—and possibly again, and again, and again. RE means you add another layer to what you’ve already done. It is continuous – nonstop. It’s a pattern of letting the love of Jesus infiltrate and overcome all the hurt, trials, and misconceptions we have. By the grace of God we have the ability to stop and begin a journey again. Through this theme our students had time to Rethink themselves, to Reflect on their lives, to Receive Jesus into their heart-mind-and life, to Respond to life’s situations, to Remain connected to the True Vine, to Renew their minds, and to Return to our communities.

As a group we shared a lot of quality time together! …And by the way – we had amazing stu-dents and chaperones on this trip. The main session worship times and speakers were amaz-ing! After each main session we had youth group time to talk about the speaker’s message – those times were so valuable and so fruitful. We were able to genuinely connect and grow in faith in the conversations we had. Everyone had the oppor-tunity to do a recreation plus

activity – some of the group did the jeep tour and some did river rafting. We had SO much fun! For free time activities we had so many fun opportunities from shopping around downtown Estes Park, playing games on the YMCA campus like mini golf, riding the mechanic bull, packing meals for Feed My Starving Children, and so much more!

The most amazing thing about the Rocky experience was that it instilled in us a childlike faith through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our students returned to the overwhelming truth that Jesus loves them! Each and every one of our students left Rocky with that truth. Think about it though, how often do we forget that Jesus loves us? …Let His love consume your entire life! Jesus tell us, “I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” Remain in Jesus and things will never be the same! I ask that you keep our students and leaders in your prayers – that we would remain in Jesus!

Thank you for your prayers, love, and support,

Tanner Mans

THANK YOU to the many individuals who have come forward and are willing to help in so

many areas this fall! We truly appreciate you all!

Janet did a quick count and already 30 people are vol-unteering to help in FRC’s children’s ministries. And

this does not include nursery or youth volunteers.

However, we are still short volunteers in a few areas. Would you consider volunteering in:

Sunday Morning 9:30 - 10:10 am Sunday School “Fill In” Teachers: We have our slots filled this year. But, it is always nice to have a few back up names in the event of emergencies.

Music Leader: Leads children Preschool-5th grade in music 10 –15 minutes at the begin-ning of the Sunday School hour.

Games Leader: Leads games for Preschool-5th grade for 10 minutes every other Sunday during the Sunday School hour.

Sunday Morning During Worship

Children & Worship Helper (10:30 service): This individual would assist the Children & Worship leader; youth and adults welcome!

Sprouts in Worship Helper (8:30 service): This individual would assist the Sprouts in Worship leader; youth and adults welcome.

Children & Worship Leader: We are always looking for additional faces in this ministry. This is a ministry that takes place during the second half of the worship service and ministers to children ages 5 - 2nd grade. Contact Janet for more information.

Wednesday Evening 6:15 - 7:45 pm

Adventures Kids (K - 5th grade) Leaders: Looking for adults to lead a group (boys or girls grades 2-3 or 4-5 and K-1 boys and girls). Each week the leader leads kids with their small group discussion (about 10-15 minutes) after a 7 minute lesson video. Discussion questions and material are all provided and the video gives a great overview. Lead-ers will also go with the group to craft and game time to assist. Bonus: the kids will love to tell you stories and read from the Bible for you.

Adventure Kids Recreation: We are looking for an individual or couple to rotate weeks with another couple, in other

words only every other week. This involves leading games (various games and supplies are provided in our game room) for the different groups as they rotate through approximately 15-20 minutes of game time per group. Same game, just modified for the different age levels. Bonus: You will get a small workout and the kids will tell you all about their day.

Craft Leader and Helper: Directs kids through 20 minutes of craft time. Crafts and instructions are provided and group leader will be with the kids to assist. Bonus: You will get some crafts or coloring pictures to hang on your fridge.

Nursery Attendant: Nursery is provided for children of those help with the various activities as well as children of those attending the various studies. We are looking for individuals who would assist in nursery during the Wednesday evening activities time.

If you are interested in volunteering in any of these areas, contact Janet (254-5646) TODAY
