April 2017

Last fall, our firm completed the new Center for Philanthropy for the Greater New Orleans Foundation, and we were thrilled to partake in the spectacular grand opening ceremony on November 15, 2016. The event took place in the courtyard area which is highlighted by the rain garden, concrete pavers, and well-appointed landscaping. The rear of the building consists mainly of a massive curtainwall system which allows open views of the many spaces between the first through third floors. Combined with the interior finishes and vast amount of natural light throughout the building, nearly every space within the facility exudes an inviting and serene setting. The neutral and some natural interior finish selections compliment the numerous pieces of colorful, intriguing, and dynamic artwork which adorn the walls of the building.

As many of our readers are familiar with the building’s location at Lee Circle, it is those who were physically involved in this project’s construction who truly can appreciate the logistics of the construction process for a facility such as this one.

We wish to thank all of F.H. Myers employees whose efforts culminated in the successful completion of this state-of-the-art building. We also are appreciative of the entire project team including GNOF, Waggonner & Ball Architects, and Construction Strategies, LLC in addition to the partnership we continue to foster with each of them.

St. Martin’s Episcopal School, Center for Innovation + DesignOn January 26th, St. Martin’s Episcopal School held the grand opening ceremony of the Center for Innovation & Design, and our staff was pleased to attend this monumental event showcasing the new facility constructed by our firm. This facility provides the students with several spaces which foster the flow of creative thinking, development of their visual media, and fabrication of their inspired designs. Upon entering the space, one enters the Idea Lab where the writable walls create a platform for students to express their thoughts and ideas. The woodworking and building shop is equipped with various machines and tools, which fabricate the one-dimensional design into three dimensions. The production studio and recording area allow the audio and visual creations to come alive on the green screen.

Our firm is honored to have been selected by St. Martin’s Episcopal School to build this amazing new facility as an instrumental addition to their sprawling campus. We sincerely hope the faculty and students enjoy this new space and want to especially thank Blitch Knevel Architects, Merry Sorrells, Lisa Davis, Robin Lunsford, and Julie O’Flynn for their involvement and partnership throughout the project.

Globalplex, Building 19In December 2016, the new 77,000 square foot warehouse facility was officially completed and accepted by the Port of South Louisiana. This massive space houses vast amounts of garnet abrasives utilized in processes such as waterjet cutting, coatings removal, and many other types of blasting applications. The new annex warehouse is adjacent to an existing 44,000 square foot warehouse facility, both of which are now surrounded with new roadway and paving areas for access around both facilities. Outside of these warehouses, a new loading dock ramp, truck scales, and bulk storage bins provide enhancements to the tenant’s daily operations. We wish to thank URS and the Port of South Louisiana for their partnership throughout this successful project.

City Park, Golf Course Support BuildingConstruction of the new City Park Golf Course Support Buildings is well underway. The project consists of a new 7,200 square foot maintenance building (Building B), a new environmental storage building (Building C), new soil bins (Building D), a new environmental wash building (Building E), and renovations to an existing 8,100 square foot maintenance building (Building A).

The structures are all pre-engineered metal buildings situated on pile supported foundations. These new buildings will serve essential daily functions assisting in the maintenance of the new City Park South Golf Course, which is slated to open on April 21, 2017.

We have enjoyed working with The Bayou District Foundation as well as Holly & Smith Architects and Morphy ◦ Makofsky Engineers on the construction of this project, which is scheduled for completion in early June 2017.

Hotel Monteleone, 608 Bienville StreetThe 608 Bienville Street project consists of a complete interior renovation of the existing second through fourth floors for a total of six new apartments.

Each of the apartments will receive all new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work including all new finishes throughout the interior of the three floors. The exterior of the building will receive a facelift with a new stucco façade, fresh paint, and new windows to match the existing.

With SCNZ Architects and IMC Consulting Engineers, we are happy to continue making building improvements for the Monteleone family. We are currently in the finishing stages of the project and are on target for our completion date at the end of April.

Hotel Monteleone, Iberville Tower Model RoomsF.H. Myers is currently constructing model rooms for the Hotel Monteleone to select materials for future renovations to the Iberville Tower guest rooms.

The project consists of replicating three existing room layouts to include two standard rooms and one suite. Each room will be mocked up to showcase different flooring, millwork, fixtures, paint/wall coverings, and furniture options. This approach will allow the owners to determine what design upgrades they would like to proceed with for future renovations to this tower.

Our anticipated date of completion is May 2017.

Renovations for the Essential Federal Credit Union project started in early March. The project consists of renovations to a 32,000 square foot existing building in Baton Rouge. Once completed, the space will house the new corporate offices for Essential Federal Credit Union.

Our scope of work on this project consists of selective interior demolition to make way for new office layouts. There are numerous wall modifications, sprinkler modifications, HVAC, and electrical system modifications. In addition, we are installing security access measures and finish upgrades throughout the space.

We have enjoyed starting a new relationship and working with Cockfield Jackson Architects of Baton Rouge on this project. Completion is scheduled for mid June 2017.

Essential Federal Credit Union

Woman’s New Life CenterThe new 6,130 square foot, two-story building located on 4612 South Claiborne Avenue began construction in December 2016. The first floor level has been designated for parking, and the second floor houses the business operations equipped with exam rooms, offices, conference rooms, counseling, laboratories, and work areas. The exterior of the building consists of single-wythe, integrally colored CMU blocks on the side elevations that supports the structural steel, joists, and decking system. The front elevation of the building will be finished with an aluminum curtain wall system. We are currently erecting the structure of the building with preparation to seal the envelope of the building soon after erection.

Special thanks to the team including HMS Architects, IMC Consulting Engineers, Morphy ◦ Makofsky Engineers, Jim Lewis, Theresa Leger, and Angela Thomas. The expected completion date is September 2017.
