Dress A Girl:Pretty and Practical
We’re pretty close to exceeding our goal! We’re practically turning cartwheels with
excitement! Our dresses will be on their way, Saturday, February 13. Linda Smith, who organized the Dresses for Love group here at Heritage Hills, will transport a carload of our colorful creations to North Port, Florida, and Donna Liljigren with Dressed in Joy. From there they will join other dresses in Orlando to be distributed through the Dress A Girl Around the World organization, a division of Hope for Women International.
Imagine the smiles on the girls faces when they receive a pretty, yet practical sundress, made with love in central Florida. Each dress has a pocket and adjustable tie shoulder straps. But each is unique in fabric print, binding color and creative trim—each volunteer added her own flair. In addition, we tucked
Heritage Hills Dresses for Love“Dress a Girl Around the World”
one of two styles of cute little handmade dolls in the pocket of the dresses sized for the younger girls. Larger sized dresses will get hair bands and hair ties in their pockets.
January 27 was a busy day in the Ballroom. That’s when we sorted and sized-tagged all the dresses to get them ready to send on their way. We also celebrated with a luncheon, enjoying the company of our new and old friends that worked together on the project.
At presstime, we do not yet know the final count of dresses headed on their journey to the girls on February 13. But we will be sure to let you know in the next issue of The Olive & Grape. Our goal was 200. Pretty amazing. Practically fantastical!

Here is the list of books which are new to the library:
Welcome to the Heritage Hills Library. Take time this month and admire our wonderful collection due to the generosity of our community. You will note that we have some books on CD, movies, and magazines to suit all interests, as well as our collection of both fiction and
non-fiction books.Do keep the books coming. We have an honor system at our library and would appreciate the return of any borrowed materials so that
they can be made available for other HH residents.Notice that the library is kept neat and clean for your enjoyment. The best way for us to keep up with your many donations is to limit
acceptance of magazines to the current month and one prior month. Our local library cannot use excess magazines either. Perhaps, if you have these treasures, you might think about donating them to our local hospital.
Debbie Running, Helen Wunderlich and I (Gail Steinberg) appreciate your comments and your kind words when you find us working at the library. Suggestions are always welcome.
Feel free to contact me if you’re searching for something or have any comments.Gail Steinberg (352) 708-4747

Read, Think and Talk about Books - with FriendsAll are welcome!
February’s Book:
The Round Houseby Louise Erdrich
“Likely to be dubbed the Native American To Kill a Mockingbird, Louise Erdrich’s moving, complex and surprisingly uplifting new novel tells of a boy’s coming of age in the wake of a brutal, racist attack on his mother. Drawn from real-life statistics about racially inspired attacks on our country’s reservations, this tale is forceful but never preachy, thanks in large part to Erdrich’s understated but glorious prose and her apparent belief in the redemptive power of storytelling.”

“The Cemetery Club”…Presented by the Heritage Hills Players
Friday, February 12Curtain rises at 7 PM
The Cemetery Club is a comedy-drama about three longtime friends, Doris, Lu-cille and Ida in their mid-to-late 50s. All three have become widows in the last four years and gather once a month to visit their respective husbands’ graves, all in the same cemetery. The play exposes the varied nuances of the women’s mar-riages, how they have dealt with the loss of a life partner, and their conflicting expectations for their futures.

Dust mite allergens account for 80 to 90 percent of allergenic compound found in the home. Most compounds are found in the mattresses, but also the furniture, and carpet of the home.Mattresses contain 60% of the dust mites. The bedroom is the #1 treatment priority. You can’t see them…you can’t feel them…you can’t smell them, but they are there.Treatment highly benets everyone especially Asthma & Allergy suerers. How many people do you know that would feel comfortable laying in all that ocean of Guanine, dead skin & bacteria? Not many I’m sure.Mites proliferate in warm, humid climates. They are almost nonexistent in places like New Mexico but thrive in tropical areas like Florida.WebMD Recommends: Clean mattresses in late winter and early spring. That will kill any dust mites that survived the winter and reduce their numbers in the summer months. What colors are you eating? Did you know that fruits and vegetables have phytochemicals (plant chemicals) that affect your health? The treasure you seek is not at the end of the rainbow, but a part of it.
When you eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, you get not only vitamins and minerals, but you also get phytochemicals. Phytochemicals have been found to be as important to your health as the vitamins and minerals we all know about.

A Picture Can Be Worth a Thousand Words This is even more true when it comes to selling your home. And let’s face it, you want those words to end with a definitive “sold.” Homes garner more traffic and buyer interest when presented effectively—which means they sell faster. That’s why it is essential that you showcase your home through images in the best way possible. According to the National Association of REALTORS,® nearly 90% of all homebuyers begin shopping for homes online. They click through photos and send a list of those of interest to their real estate agent. In fact, homes with few or no photos are often skipped simply for that reason, even if the home’s description matches a buyer’s ideal listing. Many agents believe that apart from staging, no other marketing investment is as important as profession-al photography in marketing a property. So to generate more buyer interest, there has been a dramatic in-crease in the use of professional real estate photographers. As much as we like to think we take great photos, a professional has an eye for seeing the best composition and lighting, plus better equipment to make the photos bright, clear and sharp. I always use a professional photographer for my listings. It is also important to use the best photographer. Both pictures below were done professionally by different photographers. You can see that lighting makes a big difference.

Hospice - It’s About Living!Perhaps many of us do not know that hospice is not a place, but rather a philosophy of care with an emphasis on quality of life.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17 AT 10 AMIN THE CLUBHOUSE BALLROOM
Alayne Reid, Clinical Liaison for Cornerstone Hospice & Palliative Care and Heritage Hills resident, will explain exactly what hospice is.
We’ll learn what signs may indicate when hospice is appropriate, as well as what services are available to assist patients living with pain to do so comfortably, pain-free and in their own familiar surroundings. Hospice services can help both the patient and their families, too.
DID YOU KNOW• that the earlier hospice care is started, the more beneficial it can be?• that hospice services are scheduled according to the needs of
patients and families and are adjusted as often as necessary?
Bring your questions and come learn about hospice from our knowledgeable speaker!
