L: Brothers and sisters, we gather today carrying the
weight of our lives.
P: God of peace, ease our burdens!
L: We are weary from the labors of the week.
P: God of mercy, give us rest and renew our strength!
L: Our minds are busy with the work yet undone.
P: God of wisdom, free us from our preoccupations!
All: With renewed heart, soul, strength, and mind, we are
fortified to serve the will of God.

God, we give you thanks this day for the abundance of Your
blessings. Even when we did not merit it, you showed us
mercy and poured out Your love upon us. Open our eyes and
soften our hearts so that we might extend the grace You
have given us to all the suffering and lost. In the glorious
name of Your son, Christ Jesus, we pray. AMEN.

Our Mission: To welcome all people through the love of Jesus Christ and grow as disciples who transform the world.
Our Vision: Every person in our church and community lives a life that will make Jesus smile and others smile on their journey of life
and love. Jesus smiles when every person loves God, loves one another and is engaged in transforming the world.
Every member is a minister!

2 Thessalonians 3:6-13 Discipline for the undisciplined
6 Brothers and sisters, we command you in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ to stay away from
every brother or sister who lives an undisciplined
life that is not in line with the traditions that you
received from us. 7 You yourselves know how you
need to imitate us because we were not
undisciplined when we were with you. 8 We didn’t
eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead,
we worked night and day with effort and hard
work so that we would not impose on you. 9 We
did this to give you an example to imitate, not
because we didn’t have a right to insist on financial
support. 10 Even when we were with you, we were
giving you this command: “If anyone doesn’t want
to work, they shouldn’t eat.” 11 We hear that
some of you are living an undisciplined life. They
aren’t working, but they are meddling in other
people’s business. 12 By the Lord Jesus Christ, we
command and encourage such people to work
quietly and put their own food on the table. 13
Brothers and sisters don’t get discouraged in doing
what is right.

Fanny Crosby was an American mission worker, poet, lyricist, and
composer. She was one of the most well known hymnists in history,
writing more than 800 hymns and gospel songs, despite being blind
from shortly after birth. Crosby was known as the “Queen of Gospel
Song Writers” and the “Mother of modern congregational singing in
America”, with most American hymnals containing her work. Some
publishers were hesitant to have so many hyms by one person in their
hymnals, so Crosby used nearly 200 different pseudonyms during her
career. All the hymns and service music used today was written by
Fanny Crosby.
ATTENTION YOUTH! November 20th will be the last youth meeting
before the holiday break.
NOVEMBER TOWER NEWS available in the rack
in the entry way and on the website.
Thursday, November 21st is the UMW installation of officers at 7 pm
in the fellowship hall. We welcome these ladies and appreciate their
guidance in directing our organization. Also, that evening, we will
have our Memorial service. This service honors those members who
have passed from November, 2018 through October, 2019. The
congregation is invited to attend.
PASTOR’S PRAYER LINE (937) 593-5155 Pastor Ben has a new prayer line that rings directly into his phone. If you have a confidential prayer request for Pastor Ben please call (937) 593-5155 and leave a message. If you would like a returned call, leave your name and phone number in the voice mail box and Pastor Ben will call you as soon as possible.
WINDOW PROJECT UPDATE! Removal of our stain glass windows for
repair and restoration will commence January 7, 2020. Thanks to all
those who have made this possible by their generous contributions to
the capital campaign which has raised $154,085. We are still in need
of financial support to complete the entire project and ask all those
who have not yet contributed to prayerfully consider doing so. Again,
many thanks for your support.
DIRECTORY UPDATE/CORRECTIONS: Please let the church office
know ASAP of any corrections/changes/additions - (phone #, address,
etc.) needed in the Roster section of the current directory. We want
the updated directory to be as accurate as possible. Thank you!

go quickly. The chart is in the hall by the sanctuary.
Needed!! Willing learners to join the Sunday morning Media Team!
Advanced “technie” knowledge is NOT needed! We will train you and
the job isn’t tough! Time commitment averages one Sunday a month
or less and the schedule is flexible! You can pick – we need a person
for the computer (very easy to learn!) and one person for the sound
board (a little more technical but still not too scary!). For more
information contact Cathy Wiley by texting or calling 937-935-8711 or
mark the back of your connection card. You can also just call the
church office and give your name to Barb and the team will contact
you!
A special thank you to the lovely people of 1st UMC! Your support
during the passing of my sister was generously felt with hugs, cards,
plants and love. Thank you so much to Pastor Ben and Kayce for
supporting us with their love at her funeral. All these expressions of
love were greatly felt by me and my family. Thank you again.
Barb Dancer
Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to Rev. Pam Hanlon ( former
Associate Pastor of First UMC) on the passing of her husband
William (Bill Hanlon) on November 12. Services will be at 5 pm
today with visitation 3-5 pm at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, 828
Bellefontaine Ave., Lima, OH.
Thank you for the cards and gifts I received for my retirement. I will
miss helping to keep our church clean. It’s been my pleasure working
with everyone.

THANKSGIVING LOVE DINNER—NOVEMBER 28
Please sign up to help with our 17th annual Thanksgiving Love Dinner. The
sign-up sheets are available on the desk in the entryway of the church. This
year we will need 40 turkeys. If purchasing a turkey PLEASE make sure it
weighs between 12-14 pounds and is frozen, as this allows for uniform
cooking the day before. We may also need 65 pies, at this time Lewistown
UMC is graciously donating some but haven’t gotten a final number from
them. Always grateful for the monetary donations. Please write
Thanksgiving on the memo line of your check or on the envelope if you give
cash. All turkeys must be brought in between November 10-21 and pies
need to be here by 5:00 pm on November 27.
ATTENTION CHILDREN, YOUTH & PARENTS: We are excited to announce
that the children and youth are going to present a Christmas Program
during BOTH services on Sunday, Dec. 22nd. The program is called “The
Real Reason for the Season”. It is a lighthearted look at a youth group
attempting to explain Christmas to some kids who think it’s ALL about
Santa! The Children (Pre-School through 5th grade) will be singing, and the
2nd-5th graders will also be playing handbells. Practice for the Children’s
Choir is on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School time of the 10:30
service. The Youth will rehearse on three Wednesday evenings, Dec. 4, 11
& 18th in the evening, 5:30 pm. Please call or text Kayce at 419-356-8740 if
your child would like to be involved.
Angel Tree angels are here and on the rail in the sanctuary. Sign up on the
clipboard with your name and the child you are taking to provide a gift for.
We have discovered that we need to make sure to encourage you to
purchase one item for the child. Sometimes people have bought every item
on the child’s list. Some others have bought one gift. We believe we should
be consistent and if we ask you to just provide one item, that is best. You
need to bring your wrapped gift with the angel tag attached to the church
prior to Dec. 15. Thank you so much for your continued support of this
project.
