The best way to wear peplum is to make sure there are no colour clashes brought in by the peplum. It is therefore, best to use it in solid colours, rather than using a different print on your dress and another on the peplum. But you can use peplums with sequins, polka dots and graphic art if you want to draw attention to it. The best aspect of a peplum is the fact that it can help cover chunky thighs and is very figure friendly too.

Kia leaves popular Sorento crossover alone for 2013

It takes a keen eye to spy the only thing – the restyled badge inthe grille – visually differentiating the 2013 Kia Sorento versionsas they motor into the model’s third year. And little has changed

behind it, but that shouldn’t impede this good-looking crossover’sability to remain one of the top sellers in the mid-size class.

The Sorento nameplate has been around since 2002, originallyattached to a traditional body-on-frame SUV, but the current onesarrived as 2011 models sporting latest-tech monocoque structure, styling with eye appeal and plenty of features. And their entry to theburgeoning crossover market coincided with Kia’s “arrival” as afront-line brand in Canada. In October, it celebrated 46 months ofconsecutive sales increases, with the Sorento its second-best-sellingmodel for the month. And in November, it was 47 consecutive monthsof increases. So far this year, Kia’s numbers top long establishednames such as Volkswagen, Nissan, Mazda and Subaru.

With an overall length that puts it at the lower end of the mid-size SUV/crossover model spectrum, and doesn’t stretch out muchfurther than some of the latest compact-class crossovers, the Sorentooccupies a size frame that fits a lot of buyers’ requirements. Itsability to carry up to seven people also adds to its family appeal, asdoes a choice of engines, drive systems and features, that allowsthe price to span a broad spectrum.

The Sorento LX starts at $26,895 for a front-driver ($28,795 withAWD) equipped with a 191-hp, 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine andsix-speed automatic, plus A/C, full feature audio system, tilt/telescope wheel with audio controls, Bluetooth connectivity, trip

computer, heated seats, remote keyless entry, heated side mirrorswith turn signal repeaters, fog lamps and roof rails. Stepping up toan LX with V-6 power costs a couple of grand more. You can thenescalate through EX versions to get to our test Sorento, a loaded tothe belt-line SX priced at $41,295. What this purchases is a made-in-the-U.S. crossover with styling it would be hard to find fault with, and to which the SX trim level ads a unique grille and front and rearbumpers, LED rear lights, chrome exhaust tip, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, power folding mirrors and sunroof. And into which youcan fit the aforesaid seven passengers or a maximum of 2,052 litresof cargo, or 1,047 litres with the rear seat occupied and 258 litres(think grocery bags) behind the third row.

Eating tomatoes wards off depression? If you have been feeling

downcast and gloomy, thenthe best thing to do

overcome this state of mind is toeat tomatoes a few times a week, say researchers. Researchersanalysed the mental healthrecords and diet habits of justunder 1,000 men and womenaged 70 years or over. Theyfound those eating tomatoes twoto six times a week were 46 percent less likely to suffer the bluesthan those eating the red fruitless than once a week.

A team from China andJapan, led by Kaijun Niu fromChina's Tianjin MedicalUniversity, wanted to investigatepreliminary reports thatlycopene might also promotepsychological and well asphysical health by reducingoxidative stress, or damage tohealthy brain cells, the Journal

of Affective Disorders reported. But other fruits and

vegetables do not have the samebenefits, the study found.

Eating cabbage, carrots, onions and pumpkins appearedto have little or no effect onpsychological well-being,according to the Daily Mail. Upto 20 percent of people suffer

depression at some point intheir lives, with women affectedmore than men. The elderly areat high risk because of theeffect on mood from declininghealth, bereavements andloneliness.

Tomatoes are rich in anti-oxidants, particularly lycopene, that gives them their deep red

colour and has been linked withreducing the risk of prostatecancer and heart attacks.

British consumers getthrough half-a-million tonnes oftomatoes every year - theequivalent of 19 pounds perperson a year. However, this isstill much less than in someMediterranean countries.
