PTO NEWS

WELCOME BACK! Once again the summer has flown by and here we are ready to mark our calendars with meetings, sporting events, and many other family commitments. We hope that you will reserve time to volunteer for the PTO! Through our efforts, the PTO supports the High School each year by: awarding $5000 in Scholarships to graduating seniors, providing $2000 toward Project Graduation, $2000 for Spirit Week, putting money toward teacher appreciation events, and by hosting special programs. These traditions can only be carried out with your assistance and involvement.

THE DINING OUT RAFFLE FUND RAISER: Our core fund raising effort is the "Dining Out" Raffle! The first prize winner will receive dining gift certificates to last them through 52 weeks! That's dinner out once a week for an entire year (value $1,000). The second prize is various miscellaneous prizes (value $400). Each family has received a book of 10 raffle tickets in the mail to sell to others or to keep to purchase. Please do your best to sell all the raffles you receive and return them as soon as possible and let us know when you need more raffle books to sell! The winners will be drawn at our December 8th PTO meeting. We strive to have all of the gift certificates donated to make this unique fund raiser most profitable for our students. If you can be on the prize collection committee – that would be great! Please contact a board member. We thank you in advance for all of the help!

SPORTSWEAR SALES: BEACH sportswear is always available to purchase. Just fill out an order form (online on our page on www.ptbeach.com ) and return it to the high school office along with your check made payable to PPBHS PTO. Sportswear is sold during Freshman Orientation and Back to School Night. Sportswear can also be purchased at the PTO trailer located at the Antrim School football field during home football games. This year's home football games are Sept 11th, Sept 18th, Oct 9th, 30th, and Nov 6th. NEW! The PTO now accepts credit/debit cards for sportswear purchases.

MEMBERSHIP: Even if you are too busy to attend meetings or help most of the time, your $10 membership dues will help our PTO. The Membership form is attached. Note: eligibility of scholarship recipients takes into consideration active annual PTO membership. **NOW ACCEPTING CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS FOR ONLINE MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATIONS!**

VOLUNTEERS: We are always looking for volunteers to help in any way. Perhaps you would be able to solicit some of the restaurants for our "Dining Out" raffle or provide baked goods or help set up for Freshmen Orientation (Sept 2nd), Back to School Night (Sept 17th) and/or the Holiday Semi-formal. Maybe you're able to sell raffle tickets at the Seafood Festival (Sept 19th) or at home football games. Selling our sportswear at an upcoming event or home football game is also a great way to volunteer. If you'd like to volunteer let us know! Please come to our first meeting on Sept 15th or contact any of the officers listed below. Your time is greatly appreciated.

MEETINGS: Our regular meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in the High School Media Center. Our 2015/2016 meeting dates are: Sept 15, Oct 13 (in cafeteria), Nov 10, Dec 8, Jan 12, Feb 9, Mar 8, Apr 12, May 10 and the end-of-the-year dinner in June. Keep Up-to-Date: www.facebook.com/ppbhspto

BOOSTER CLUB Welcome back! We hope you all enjoyed your summer and had a chance to relax and get ready for the new school year ahead.

If you didn’t know already…the Boosters is like the PTO for the athletes of our school. It is a completely different parent/teacher organization from the PTO or Music Parents. Those three different organizations provide a ton of support for the students of our school. If you are already a Booster Association member, thank you and please come to a meeting and see how you can help out!

The Boosters provide scholarships to our seniors, pay for the athletes to attend the Varsity Banquets, host the JV Awards nights, provide trophies, and award conference/state sweatshirts/jackets. The Boosters do so by fund raising: bridge coin tosses, football snack stand revenue, 50/50 revenue, the ad folder, and some apparel and merchandise sales. The Boosters do not collect the gate at any of the team games, nor do the Boosters run any of the snack stands except for the one at the home football games. If there are any questions amongst friends and neighbors regarding the Boosters mission - by all means - contact a Booster officer or direct them online to the Booster's page at: http://www.ptbeach.com/domain/58 or come to our monthly meetings! By joining the Boosters, you will also receive very valuable informational emails regarding all sports happenings! Membership is open to parents, teachers, staff, and community members. Please spread the mission of the Boosters as the parent/coaches group for our athletic teams.

Each sport needs to send a delegate to each Booster Meeting during their season to report on their team. We also need a representative from each team to email regular game reports. The Booster Membership wants to hear about the teams they are supporting! AND – the Booster Board relies on the Booster Members to provide the much needed information! If you want to be the delegate from your player’s team – email [email protected] or sign up at our first meeting.

We hold our monthly meetings generally on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm in the high school cafeteria. Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. As you know the support of our teams can only be continued through the encouragement and participation of our families and friends. We are in need of volunteers for all of our programs and committees. Come help us build and achieve our 2015-16 goals! Our 2015/16 meeting schedule: Sept 16, Oct 14, Nov 11, Dec 9, Jan 13, Feb 10, Mar 9, Apr 13, May 11 and June 15.

Thank you to everyone who made our August 1st bridge coin toss possible. We successfully raised funds to kick start our year! As part of our fundraising efforts we will be holding our second coin toss on September 19, 2015 during the Festival of the Sea from 10am to 3pm at the foot of the Route 35 Bridge. This is a tremendous opportunity for us to raise some much needed funds!! We need your help to make it happen. Please contact any of the below board members or e-mail [email protected] to sign up!

The 2015/16 membership form is attached, as well as information on what we need from you to operate our snack stand. Please return the registration form as soon as possible! We need 100% participation from our school community. As an added convenience, we now accept credit/debit cards for membership dues. Visit our link online or on our Facebook page: http://www.ptbeach.com/domain/58 or https://www.facebook.com/ppbhsbooster. The more we do the more our kids benefit! The students like to see their family members being involved! Boosters are not simply a cheering squad for our athletes, our goal is to help our students build character, self-confidence and produce real leaders for our student athletes. Please join the Boosters and help us reach these goals. See you at our first game!

PRINCIPAL’S P.S.

Beginning a new school year is always so exciting! For me, it’s an opportunity to meet new and returning students and to welcome them to Point Pleasant Beach High School. Some of them will be filled with apprehension; some, with excitement. No matter how they feel, though, each of them has an opportunity to make the 2015 – 2016 school year the best year ever. Point Pleasant Beach High School is the students’ school. Their high school experience will be what they determine it will be. Yes, of course, the teachers play a huge role, as do the administrators and other staff members. However, our students need to be involved in their school community and be active participants in everything we have to offer them in academics and extra-curricular activities in order to make this school theirs. All of us have worked hard this summer to ensure that this upcoming school year will be a challenging, exciting, and rewarding one. As principal of Point Pleasant Beach High School, I can guarantee that my teachers, staff, and I will put forth our best effort all day, every day to help our students make their school one of which they will be proud. Attaining excellence in academics and in extra-curricular activities takes a group effort, and our students will be among a dedicated group of professional educators who will work tirelessly to ensure that they are challenged and well taken care of. I know that our parents, too, will do everything in their power to support our students, their children, every step of the way. Starting a new school year is so much more than buying a new outfit and matching accessories – even though that sure is part of the fun! It’s knowing that our students, our “Garnet Gulls,” will be empowered once again to continue the tradition of excellence which has become synonymous with Point Pleasant Beach High School. To our parents, I wish you a successful 2015 – 2016 school year and hope that you enjoy your children’s high school experience right along with them. To our students, I also wish you much success this school year, and I challenge you to make “the Beach” truly yours. Best of luck and welcome to the 2015 – 2016 school year at Point Pleasant Beach High School. Go Beach! Terri M. King Terri M. King Principal

Dear Parents, On behalf of the PTO, welcome to the 2015/2016 school year at Point Pleasant Beach High School. Enclosed you will find your family’s “Dining Out” raffle tickets. This is the PTO’s biggest fund raiser of the year and we would sincerely appreciate 100% participation. Each family is asked to sell a minimum of one book of 10 tickets, each ticket is $5. The ticket stubs, money, and any unsold tickets need to be returned the High School PTO by December 1st, 2015. The winners will be chosen at our December 8th General Membership meeting. Please remember to completely fill out your tickets by hand and

please print legibly. Stamps/stickers will invalidate your entries. A separate payment (cash or check) needs to be made for this fundraiser. PLEASE DO NOT CO-MINGLE WITH MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT – THANK YOU! The “Dining Out” raffle effort is responsible for funding the PTO’s entire operating budget for the year. Examples of how the PTO supports the High School include: awarding $5000 annually in Scholarships to graduating seniors (participation in this fund raiser may be considered when awarding student scholarships), $2000 for Project Graduation, $2000 for Spirit Week, money toward teacher appreciation events and more. The success of our entire year’s worth of funding is dependent on the sales of these raffle tickets. Please purchase today and let a PTO officer know when you need more tickets to sell. As we ask for donations from restaurants to fulfill prizes offered with this raffle, please contact us if you have a restaurant gift card to donate or a connection with a restaurant willing to donate that we can contact. For this unique drawing, the lucky raffle winners will receive the following: FIRST PRIZE: 52 Gift Certificates "Dinner Out once a week for a year" (Total dollar value of $1000) SECOND PRIZE: Various Miscellaneous Prizes (Total dollar value of $400) As always we are grateful for your donation and we appreciate your involvement in our PTO Fundraiser.
