“I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.” – Albert
Einstein Times have changed and today learning is all about providing children with an environment in
which they get an opportunity to explore and make inferences. This method of educating
learners helps them grow into well-rounded individuals who take responsibility for their own
learning. As educators, we can only lead the way for these young children to achieve the
milestones they set for themselves!
Visit to “The Music Box.”
Children learn best when they are given the opportunity to explore. We understand this and that
is the reason that incursions and excursions form such an important part of our curriculum. This
month Prep 1 went to “The Music Box.”Once there, the learners got an opportunity to try their
hand at playing the piano and the drums. They also sang action songs and danced to the music
played by the instructors there. A musical morning – The children came back super excited with
the knowledge they had gathered there.
Makarsankranti Celebrations
Known by different names all over India, Makarsankranti is celebrated to observe the day which
marks the shift of the sun into ever-lengthening days. As festivals form a significant part of every
culture, we gave our children a glimpse of this festival through stories and videos. The learners
also got an opportunity to make rangolis, decorate bags and fly kites during the Makarsankranti
celebrations.
Leadership Camp This month, we held a Leadership Training Programme for our Reception, Prep 1 and Prep 2 children. Conducted by trainers from the Indus School of Leadership, Bangalore, the programme focused on further developing the children's socio-emotional, physical, cognitive, language and aesthetic skills. During the session, the children got an opportunity to work as individuals as well as in pairs and groups. The children had fun completing the tasks and thoroughly enjoyed the learning process.
Education World Rankings
“Awards not only tell us how far we have come, they also remind us how much further we have to go”
This month, I got an opportunity to represent you, our little ones, our teachers and the staff at the Early Childhood Educational Conference held on the 21st of January in Bangalore. It was at this occasion that we received the award for India’s Preschool rankings 2016. Indus Early Learning Centre has been Ranked No: 2 in the Proprietary Preschools Category. I would like to thank each one of you for supporting us and helping us come this far!
NDTV Education Awards
I would also like to take this opportunity to share the news that I have been awarded the “Excellence in English Language Teaching (West – Maharashtra) at the NDTV Education Awards held in Mumbai on the 28th of January. To me this award is a constant reminder of how I am now further entrusted with the responsilbilty of using my skills to help the younger generation.
As I end this newsletter, I would like to again thank you for all your love and support. Looking forward to another month of fun-filled learning.
