We’ve witnessed once again, the power of division and the uselessness of advancing a story or a narrative before the truth is known or understood. Recent days have once again seen much violence and sadness in our country. Two tragic shootings and the way of response in both places has been alarming to say the least. Race is pointed to in both, but perhaps an issue in neither, and yet an excuse in one. Tulsa, OK saw a white female police officer discharge her firearm and take the life of a suspect. Charges were filed and the officer in question willfully surrendered to authorities. What’s alarming, the protesters have called for whites to be punished, and whites to be blamed. Interestingly enough, one news outlet reported that majority of those arrested in Charlotte, 70% to be exact, held out of state ID’s (Erin Burnett, CNN, 09-23-16). There are voices we are hearing in our world, and their words carry not a shred of value, but only violence. True are the words of Solomon, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). How we speak, what we speak, and why we speak matter, perhaps now more than ever. We’ve talked throughout the last few months regarding the support we need to have and lend to those around us and those near us. It’s hard to believe that this series of lessons and this installment of our theme for 2016 began back in July with an excellent word from our Matthew Dotson regarding the life of Jonathan and his humility and honoring his friendship with David, in spite of David being despised by Jonathan’s father, Saul. From Hannah, to Mary and Mary Magdalene and the bride of Christ, the power of God and His transforming word in our lives is priceless. The example of these lives were met with triumphs and trials, but through each moment they endeavored to have God’s grace and guidance mark each step with purpose. They did not do this or accomplish this arbitrarily, they tuned their heart into the word of God and His power to reveal a better way. It’s in the word we find the comfort when death has come, we find the direction when doubts arise, and we find the deity when delight is found in our days. The word is all things to us in all seasons of life. There is a beautiful picture painted for us through the book of Hebrews, a picture of better things to come. The struggle was great for these Jews turned Christians, and their thought, their overwhelming thought was to give up and go back to what they had always known in their old life. The Hebrew writer makes the case, there is nothing better than Jesus Christ, but it would take some convincing of their hearts to believe this, because up to this point the only thing Jesus Christ had earned them had been difficulty, separation from their friends and family, and a struggle of managing a new way of life in a world where few it seemed if any, wanted anything to do with Jesus Christ. I hope you know, the word, the power of Christ, is “the better rest” from the world’s trials and the only triumph we can be assured of reaching, is through our Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:11-16).

“I Hope You Know”

There are too many words in our world spoken, which are not helping any heart, they are not helping any soul see eternity’s shore. We’ve witnessed once again, the power of division and the uselessness of advancing a story or a narrative before the truth is known or understood. Recent days have once again

seen much violence and sadness in our country. Meanwhile, in Charlotte, NC a black officer shot and killed a black suspect, and for three nights, the city was looted, riots erupted and many more lives were turned upside down, all because the claim of racial targeting of law enforcement as a motivator for the shooting. Dinner Catered by: Fish Camp Restaurant Dinner Served Each Wednesday In September from 5:30-6:30 pm with

Devotional and Series beginning at 7:00

THE ANNUAL HAYRIDE 5TH QUARTER was unforgettable as always. We enjoyed some hamburgers, hotdogs and all the extras after the football game. We then loaded up on two hay wagons to take a trip around Camp Meribah. With a surprise or two, the night was perfect and a great time was had by all. Thank you to Troy & Lake Bates and Mike & Ridonna Goodpasture for supplying the hayride. Thanks also to Cody Woods and Ben Green for taking care of our safe

travels on the road. SUNDAY AFTERNOON WE ENJOYED MOVIE DAY! This was for the Sparks & Intermediates in the Lighthouse. Popcorn, chips, and lots of kool-aid was on the menu and Jungle Book was being show in the “theatre.” 30 plus enjoyed the movie and the time together. Thanks to all those that helped to make the afternoon so wonderful! CAN YOU BELIEVE… We are quickly moving into October. Another busy month, as they all seem to be. It is easy to get caught up in the progression of our daily routine, but don’t let that be the case in your discipleship. Seek out daily opportunities to increase your knowledge in

God’s Word, to spend time in prayer talking with the Father, and seeking ways to help others to come to know Jesus through sharing the gospel. Look to the life that was lived for us to see how to live here and how to live for all eternity… follow His path, -Craig
