“I have come to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10
When it comes to why we exist as a church, the simplest answer would be to continue
the work of Jesus Christ in our world. The work of actively seeking out the lost and
helping them come to experience God’s mercy and grace in their lives. And as we begin
the month of November this week that is exactly what I, as your pastor, see us trying
to do.
First of all through our partnership with “John 3:16 Ministries” as we help host
the Fish Fry and Service at the Tyndall Park Amphitheater this coming Sunday starting
at 4:30 p.m.—This will be “The Biggest Single Outreach Event” we have ever attempted
as a Church Family.
Secondly, we will be starting our 8th year of after-school Bible Club as an outreach
to the children of our community. And tying our kick-off to this Sunday’s Outreach
at the park, I am trusting that this could be our best year ever—If you want to help,
let me know as we will be starting this coming Monday at the pavilion by the playground
at Tyndall Park.
Thirdly, November is also our Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box collection
month. So whether you pick up and pack your own shoe box or help us cover the cost
of sending the 200 boxes our children prepared at this year’s VBS, I encourage you to
be a part of this yearly outreach to the children of our world with the love of Jesus.
This year’s estimate is that a total of over 12 million Shoe Boxes will be sent out!
And fourthly, our annual Thanksgiving Service & Feast will be providing a very
special seasonal outreach event. One in which we can all help prepare with sign-ups
being made available this Sunday. Go ahead and invite your family and friends to
join us!
My personal encouragement to each member of our church is to do more than just
sit back and watch all of these multiple events happen—Commit now to pray and to
get involved! And when it comes to Outreach don’t forget to invite and bring someone
with you this coming Sunday as we gather to Study God’s Word and Worship together
as God’s Family!

Just Passing Notes
Ne 8:10 Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy
of the LORD is your strength.
We’ve all sung the old chorus: “The Joy of the Lord is My Strength.” Another verse says “He is the Living Water and I
thirst no more…”
The weak in faith might ask: how is His joy my strength? The first answer seems to be outlined in the verse: “send portions for whom nothing is prepared.” In other words; reach out to those in need as a service unto Him. The disciples asked: “how did we give you drink? The Master replied: “when you
gave unto this little one.”
Another way of receiving strength in His joy is found in the Psalms. Ps 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. To delight yourself in
Him comes in many ways: service, prayer, etc.
But another way is in the presence of God’s people. The Psalmist also said He inhabits the praises of His people. Not in the style of man, but in the praises of God’s people. One of the many reasons we gather on Sunday, more than once I might add, is to praise Him for his abundance of Himself back to us. One of the things that will cheer me up is at that time is the joy of the Lord in God’s people. Whether it is in choir practice or actual worship service; praises to God are contagious to
God’s children. Not only is it contagious, but strengthening.
Have you ever noticed: that when God’s people come together for purpose of actual worship and praise, there is no animosity? There is no division, no purpose of self, but to
praise the Lord.
The Psalmist then added: He will give you the desires of your heart. The heart is solely designed to be the throne room of the presence of the Lord. So, when we delight ourselves in Him, that is everything we do is about Him and not us, then His desires become ours. It’s His heart, His throne room. Our changed heart is the meeting room of the board of directors of Heaven: God the Father; God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
What possibly could be more strengthening than that?
With that said; allow me to celebrate Thanksgiving early. Thank you, church, for your constant blessing to me and Judy. We thank you for the support you give. We thank you for the gifts. We do draw strength when we come to worship. And although it seems I am in a hurry on Sunday mornings, I am always glad to see you here. And I thank each of you for your cards, birthday wishes, even your gifts, but most of all thank
you for your joy in the Lord.
I might add: the more you express your praises to the Lord,
the more others will get involved…just passing notes.
