2018 DSA Prayer

Loving and gracious God, we praise you and we thank you for the bountiful gifts that you have bestowed upon us. Instill in us the cour-

age to “Go and Announce the Gospel of the Lord.” Help us to understand that we are

called to discipleship, to grow actively in faith and to go and share the good news with the

world. Please bless our unified efforts and help us to bring Christ’s love to all we encounter. Give us the grace to be generous in our sup-port of the Diocesan Services Appeal, so that we may faithfully participate as missionary disciples in the work of Your Holy Church.

Amen

OLD ST. PATRICK PARISH DIRECTORY

Knight of the Month Our Knight of the Month for

April is Deacon Frank Papp.

At their ordination, all deacons

receive the Book of Gospels

from the Bishop and are

commissioned to preach the

Good News. They also make

a solemn promise to pray the

Liturgy of the Hours for and with the People of

God. These two ministries are among the most

important ways I am able to serve our beautiful

parish. The good people of OSP are in my pray-

ers every day. As your parish deacon, it has

been my privilege to serve and to preach at

Holy Mass and to preside at baptisms,

weddings, scripture/prayer vigils, funerals, and

interments. Prayerful presence at the local

abortion clinic is an important witness (on

several occasions it was possible to bring the

Blessed Sacrament to those prayer vigils).

Together with my wife Barbara, we offer the

parish baptismal preparation class. When able,

serving our dear homebound is a crucial minis-

try. The deacon serves, ex officio, as a member

of the Parish Council, Worship Committee,

Parish Finance Committee, and the Pastoral

Team. Leading other special liturgies (Stations

of the Cross, Holy Saturday Blessing of Easter

Food, Office of Readings and Morning Prayer)

is a particular joy and honor. When called to do

so, articles for the parish bulletin are contribut-

ed. It is a particular blessing to be a parishioner

here at OSP — a community of brothers and

sisters dedicated to our Lord and His Mother

and who by the witness of their lives encourage

my faith. Thank you Deacon Papp for your

outstanding service to our Church. May God

Bless You.

Family of the Month The Perrydore Family

is our Family of the

Month for April. Gary

and Mary serve the

parish as sacristans,

Extraordinary

Ministers of Holy

Communion and

Gary lectors. They assist couples as they pre-

pare for the sacrament of marriage and coordi-

nate training and scheduling of Extraordinary

Ministers of Holy Communion and lectors. Mary

is a member of the worship committee while

Gary serves on the parish council. Tim is

involved with the OSP Youth Group and, along

with Nick, is an altar server. Maggie partici-

pates with American Heritage Girls. Gary

recently assisted with the Men's Into the

Breach Lenten series and the Confirmation

Retreat for the soon to be confirmed 8th

graders. God Bless You, Gary and your family

for your dedicated service to Old St. Patrick’s

Church.

If you would like to send family members a card with the date of the celebration, Mass Cards are available at the Parish Office. Mass Intentions for each week are published in the bulletin.

What really happened to the crucified body of Jesus of Nazareth? Using a popular question-and-answer format, this book examines the historical evidence concerning the fate of Jesus. Did Jesus really die on the Cross? If so, what became of his body? Was it stolen? Misplaced? Or did Jesus rise from the dead, as he promised and as his disciples came to believe and sacrifice their lives to proclaim? Carl Olson carefully weighs the evidence with in-depth analysis. Whether you are a believer, a skeptic, or something in between, be prepared to have your thinking challenged by this provocative and insightful book.

To read this book go to formed.org and put in our Parish Code: W9M3Q6 If it is your first time you will need to create a free account.
