“I am not ashamed of the gospel.”
This is what the apostle Paul wrote to a
group of Christ-followers in Rome in the
late first century. Paul said he is not
ashamed of the gospel because it is
God’s power to save all humankind
(Romans 1:16). In the next verse, he
explained that “the righteousness of
God is being revealed” in the gospel.
A n o t h e r w a y o f t r a n s l a t i n g
“righteousness of God” is “God’s
making-things-right power.” So, what is
being revealed? God’s power to heal
the world and reconcile all humankind
to one another and to God.
No wonder Paul was not ashamed!
Would you be?
Join us this fall as we dig deeper into
Paul’s letter to learn more about the
meaning and significance of the gospel
then and now.
