AWE FACTOR Newsletter
Fall is my favorite time of year. It is a refreshing time of year as the fresh
cool air begins to settle in after a long hot summer. During this fall season, I pray that our
student ministry will experience a time of refreshing. I want our students to examine their lives to see if they are
living in AWE of who God is. The GSSM vision is for students to experience the AWE of God through ACTIONS, WORSHIP, and
EVANGELISM. This fall is loaded with opportunities for all our students to experience the AWE of God in their lives. Parents, I encourage
you to challenge your students to get plugged in to what God is doing in and through GSSM. Great times are ahead for GSSM.
It is a joy to lead the GSSM staff. They are an incredible group of people who have incredible hearts to reach students for Christ. I would like
to welcome Alan Greenwood to our GSSM staff. Alan will work in our Student Ministry as well as in our Recreation Ministry.
If there is anything Rob, Kim, Alan, and Cindy can do for you, please let us know.

WELCOME ALAN GREENWOOD!Hello! I am the new guy on staff at Geyer Springs, as I have been working with the Geyer Springs Student Ministry since August 13. Before coming to GSFBC, I lived in Arkadelphia for 26 years, which equates to my entire lifetime. In the fall of 2008, I graduated from Ouachita Baptist University, majoring in Mass Communications. For the majority of my time on campus, I focused on sports journalism as well as radio and television broadcasting. After graduating from OBU, I worked at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette newspaper in town as the sports editor and then started on staff at OBU in August 2009. It was
a blessing to serve in multiple roles on campus, including the Recreational Sports Director, Sports Information Director, and Hall Director at East Village dorms. Also during the past three years, I worked with students as an assistant youth pastor at First Baptist Church of Arkadelphia, focusing on men’s discipleship for high school young men.
My call to ministry began in 2008 as I founded the Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddles at Arkadelphia High School and Goza Middle School. God began a work in me after serving on three straight spring break mission trips to Panama City Beach with Beach Reach at OBU and through ministry opportunities at Arkadelphia High School and OBU. The experience of working with students at FBC Arkadelphia stretched me spiritually, giving me an opportunity to challenge students and mentor them through the difficulties of growth and maturity. In January, FBCA licensed me to the Gospel ministry, and I was blessed to receive a call to join the GSFBC staff
towards the end of this summer.
In the spring of 2013, I am going to marry the love of my life, Laura Elizabeth Sikes. Laura and I met at Ouachita Baptist and have been dating since September 2011. She is currently completing her master’s degree in Speech Communication Science and Disorders at the University of Central Arkansas and currently lives in Conway with her family. If you have a chance to meet her, she is the absolutely beautiful woman by my side with brown curly hair.
I would love to sit down and meet all of you in the coming weeks and months, and I am very excited to work with your students to challenge them and encourage them to live a purposeful lifestyle that honors God. Drop me a line at [email protected] or call me at 870-403-2519 if you ever need anything. I look forward to meeting all of you soon!
In Christ, Alan Greenwood
