SCTE Energy

2020 Metrics Standards

The SCTE Standards program is developing universal energy standards and operational practices that can sup-port new cable services and make the delivery of exist-ing services more efficient. SCTE 210, 211, 212 and 213 are metrics standards that are critical to achieving the power cost and consumption reduction goals of the Energy 2020 program. Operators should use these foundational tools to estab-lish energy baselines and measure changes in power use from the rack to the system level. These initial metrics standards play a key role in gauging the impact of future energy standards and operational practices. Creating this first wave of standards is only the begin-ning for Energy 2020. The real objective is for the entire industry to join the effort by adopting these standards and making energy as important as price and perfor-mance in the evaluation and purchase of new equipment.

We gathered at Imperial Beach on a beautiful Sunday morning

4/17/2016 to celebrate Adam’s life and perform the traditional

“surfer's paddle-out ceremony”. Adam Kruse, a long time

SCTE member, was employed with Cox Communications CA

for the past 18 years and most recently was involved in an hon-

orable leadership role as Corporate Cox Business Field Ser-

vice Manager. Additionally Adam held a position on the SCTE

San Diego Chapter Board of Directors from 2009 to 2016. He

also was a member of the SCTE Shasta / Rogue Chapter

Board of Directors from 2007 to 2009. Adam was an energized

SCTE member as a Board member here in San Diego and

consistently demonstrated his genuine passion and support for

the SCTE mission. He greatly reinforced the need for profes-

sional development and regularly expressed a powerful mes-

saging style which truly inspired SCTE members and our in-

dustry friends to elevate their individual skills by engaging the

offerings of the SCTE.

Sincerely,

Bob Weaver—SCTE Region 1 Representative
