ASSEMBLY NEWS

In our assembly on Friday we prepared for the festival of Eid-ul-Adha which will be celebrated this weekend on Saturday. We remembered that Hajj is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, we shared a story about the Hajj and we heard from some pupils what Eid time means for them and their families.

Quiet Time

We thought about the people we know who have made the long and special journey to Saudi Arabia this year and how fulfilled they will feel when they return home to share their stories of the Hajj.

A Moon Picnic for Year 1! Year 1 have been reading Jill Murphy’s story “Whatever Next!” Just like Baby Bear, they wore their pyjamas and they went in a space rocket to the Moon. When they got to the Moon they ate the sandwiches that they had made, the biscuits they had decorated and

other yummy things. When the picnic was over they got back in their rocket and came back to Earth. Maybe you will be able to read some otf the stories they have written about their visit to the Moon.

Weekend Homework

How many different planets can you name? Can you make up some new planet names?

That's Interesting! The Moon was probably made 4.5 billion years ago when a large object hit the Earth and blasted out rocks that came together to orbit around the Earth. They eventually melted together, cooled down and became the Moon. If you look a the Moon you can see dark areas on the surface which are known as the “seas”. They are not really seas, but are huge expanses of smooth, dark lava.
