“AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom” Grand Opening at 9:00 AM on April 25, 2015 (Saturday)
On April 25, 2015 (Saturday), AEON will celebrate the grand opening of“AEON MALL
Okinawa Rycom” (hereinafter referred to as the “Mall”) located in Kitanakagusuku, Nakagami
District, Okinawa Prefecture, the largest shopping center in the prefecture.
Located in Kitanakagusuku, Nakagami District in middle Okinawa Island, the Mall adjoins the
main artery Japan National Route 330 which connects the south and north of Okinawa Island. On
the north side is the east-west Okinawa Loop Line. Therefore it is very convenient for residents in
Okinawa City and neighboring municipalities to come to the Mall. Additionally, the Mall is close to
Kitanakagusuku IC and Okinawa-minami IC, making it easier for customers from a large area in
Okinawa Island to visit the Mall. In a word the Mall enjoys convenient communication and
superior geographical location.
The Kitanakagusuku Awase land planning and consolidation business area where the Mall is
seated is considered as a typical case of early land industrialization after the U.S. army returned
the lands, while the Mall is positioned as a core facility of the Kitanakagusuku Awase land
planning and consolidation business area.
Moreover, over 6.9 million Japanese and overseas tourists come to Okinawa Prefecture
every year (annual objective of the Visit Okinawa Plan 2014), making it one of the top tourist
attractions in Japan.
Based on the objective of 10 million tourists in 2021 in the 5th Okinawa Travel Revitalization
Plan of Okinawa Prefecture made by Okinawa Prefecture, besides offering tourists a shopping
environment, AEON will also provide authentic food, recreation and experiences originated in
Okinawa through the transmission of Okinawa culture, and strive to create the “No.1 Leisure
Shopping Center in Asia”.

★ The Mall has gathered approx. 220 stores, including 46 first-ever stores in Kyushu
and Okinawa regions and 70 first-ever stores in Okinawa.
★ From special local cuisine to cuisines from all over the world, the Mall is the largest
food court in Okinawa.
·With over 60 restaurants and approx. 5,500 seats, the Mall has gathered both special local
food culture and foods from all over the world. Moreover, there is a duplex gourmet world
with approx. 2,200 seats, which is the largest in Okinawa.
★ It offers the culture and entertainment that can make people feel the charm of

·In the large duplex space “Rycom Square ‘Aqua’”, there is a large water tank “Rycom
Aquarium” jointly created with Okinawa Mirashima Consortium, which represents the sea of
Okinawa.
·Activities about Ryukyu culture, Okinawa culture and American culture, music & dance
performances and street performances are held 365 days a year.
★ The Mall sets “Rycom Welcome Station” to support Okinawa sightseeing tour
·The Mall will ensure Japanese and overseas customers to have a “happy travel experience”
by setting sightseeing receptionists, Kitanakagusuku sightseeing guide stations, foreign
currency exchange windows, flight information stations, car rental and souvenir shops.

■ AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom will welcome customers with four major contents.
Approx. 220 specialty stores including 46 first-ever stores in Kyushu and
Okinawa and 70 first-ever stores in Okinawa
·It has gathered approx. 60 stores and approx. 5,500 seats, including restaurants, gourmet
world and coffee shops that have both special local food culture and foods from all over the
world. Here customers can enjoy all kinds of foods in the beautiful environment in which they
can overlook the blue sea or they are surrounded by green plants.
The gourmet world where customers can easily find authentic and delicious food has set a
duplex structure. The duplex gourmet world with approx. 2,200 seats is the largest in
Okinawa. Customers will be intoxicated in a luxury leisure mood, in the open-air corridor and
the beautiful environment with a sea view. Additionally, there are also large restaurants that
serve group tourists and support the traditional financial mode of Okinawa---“Moai”
Customers can have a great delightful talk together in this leisure space.

·In the open large space on duplex 1F, there is a large ornamental water tank “Rycom
Aquarium” with a volume of over 100 tons. Some 25 tropical fish species (1,000 fish) with
unique characteristics and bright colors represented by Napoleon Wrasse and zebra sharks
from the offshore of Okinawa roam in the transparent seawater, which presents the image of
“Okinawa’s beautiful sea” and gives the mysterious sense of space.
·In the day, in the “Rycom Stage ‘AIR’” on 3F, authentic concerts and traditional art
performances about Ryukyu and Okinawa culture will be held; in the night, in the “Rycom
Stage ‘Sky’”, there will be live pop music shows and street performances brought by
American artists. In 365 days a year, tourists and local residents can enjoy the fun every day.

By making use of the harmonious coexistence with local natural resources
such as flowers and trees and the soothing BGM, seawater, sky and breeze,

·“Rycom Village”, a leisure, holiday space
In the “Rycom Village” designed by world-renowned Ishihara Kazuyuki, the scattering
sunshine, shady trees and beautiful waterfalls and streams and so on give a sense of leisure
compatible with the nature of Okinawa. It will provide every visitor with a comfortable space
where they want to stay for a whole day.
·The Mall has set a space with approx. 280 seats in the open space on duplex 5F for relaxation
and leisure, which has further complemented the leisure environment here. Additionally,
there is also Sky Garden where children can play freely and mosaiculture jointly created with
Okinawa Mirashima Consortium, creating a wholly new landscape in harmonious
coexistence with the rich natural resources in Kitanakagusuku.
·At the Arrival Gate, there are ceramic lions crafted by lion ceramists in Yomitan, while in
Rycom Village there are a group of ceramic lions jointly crafted by local ceramists in
Kitanakagusuku. Customers can appreciate and also photo with those guardians of the Mall.

“Rycom Welcome Station” will provide local residents and tourists with
reliable and satisfactory services.
・ The “Rycom Welcome Station” in the Mall that covers an area of approx. 1,600m2 provides
not only services that can improve convenience for local residents but also services
helping Japanese and overseas tourists. To ensure tourists from Japan and overseas can
enjoy a happy time in the Mall to the fullest, the Mall will provide all kinds of convenience
services from the perspective of tourists.
“Rycom Welcome Station”
·The Mall is equipped with “Kitanakagusuku Travel Market KITAPO” (Kitanakagusuku
sightseeing guide stations) which will spread the charm of Kitanakagusuku and “sightseeing
receptionists” who will give suggestions on travel according to the demand of tourists.
·To make it more convenient for customers during shopping, the Mall has equipped “foreign
exchange windows” and “ATMs accepting overseas credit cards”. The Mall also provides
“temporary storage service of carry-on luggage” “delivery service to airports and hotels” and
“express delivery to other places in Japan and overseas”.
·The Mall has also set “rental car stops” and “flight information stations” where tourists can
check flight information, to improve convenience for individual tourists. Additionally, for
customers using shuttle bus and group tour bus, there are also “bus waiting rooms”.
·Moreover, there are also “souvenir shops” and “convenience stores” where customers can
buy local specialties of Okinawa and enjoy desserts, as well as “Prayer Room” for prayers
and “special waiting rooms for bus drivers and attendants”, in the hope of providing
satisfactory services to all people.
・ Moreover, considering the convenience for tourists, besides Wi-Fi throughout the Mall,
there are signs, floor instructions and fronts pages in “English, Chinese (traditional and
simplified Chinese) and Korean”.
・ The Mall will enrich means of transportation to make it convenient for customers in south
regions represented by Naha Airport and Naha direction, and the central region nearby.
・ The Mall will make tourists from Japan and overseas visiting AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom
know more about the central region, and urge them to visit more surrounding areas,
