I’m fighting for the resources we need to defeat the coronavirus, provide relief for Americans, and safely reopen our communities.

The Cares ActIn March, Congress passed a major relief package in response to COVID-19 that included critical funding for hospitals, direct assistance of up to $1,200 for families, enhanced unemployment benefits, and grants for small businesses.

The Heroes ActIn May, the House of Representatives passed the Heroes Act, a comprehensive $3 trillion effort to combat the pandemic. Our plan expands testing, tracing, and treatment resources to fight the disease, provides hazard pay for essential workers, and sets standards to responsibly reopen our child care centers, schools, and workplaces.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act

In June, I voted on a comprehensive bill to strengthen and protect the Affordable Care Act, expand coverage, lower prescription drug prices, and protect Americans with pre-existing conditions.

The House of Representatives just passed a major infrastructure plan that will create millions of jobs, improve our roads and bridges, and invest in clean technologies - the Moving Forward Act. The bill includes the Offshore Wind Jobs and Opportunities Act, my bill to help build a clean energy workforce through career training grants for higher education institutions & labor organizations.

I sponsored the Reopen & Rebuild America’s Schools Act, that invests $130 billion in school repairs and preparedness to ensure the health & safety of students & educators.

We all want to see our children return to school this fall and get the best education possible, but only if it happens safely with decisions made based on science.

I’m committed to ensuring our nation’s security by supporting the men and women who serve and the thousands of workers at our region’s military bases and manufacturing facilities. In this year’s defense bill, I worked to enhance ‘Buy American’ standards for security programs, which will grow demand for high-skilled, high-quality local jobs. I also supported provisions to protect the collective bargaining rights of civilian workers, increase access to child care for service members and their families, and provide up to $10,000 in immediate student loan relief.

In the News

Following the death of George Floyd, I participated in peaceful marches side-by-side with South Jersey residents and police officers.

Camden is now regarded as a model for effective community policing as the national conversation on race and justice continues.

I support the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, the first-ever bold, comprehensive approach to build trust between law enforcement and our communities and to hold bad actors accountable.

I voted to remove statues of Confederates in the U.S. Capitol and to rename military installations and structures named after any person who served in the Confederacy.
