Anzac Day Activities
Anzac Day is a symbolic day for our residents in Kalyna Care. We made poppies for
our Anzac Day boards, baked the Anzac biscuits, talked
about the war and reminded each other how lucky we are
to be living in Australia.
Due to the COVID - 19 virus we are
cancelling all entertainers, Community
Morning Teas and Residents and
Representative meetings until further
notice.

Our wonderful ladies enjoyed their special day with a special afternoon tea. All
ladies received fresh flowers and hand made cards. The hall was decorated with hand
made craft from our residents. Thanks to the Ukrainian Women's Association Australia Alla Horska Branch for the special greeting to our
residents at Kalyna Care.

COVID-19 UPDATE
From 1 May 2020, all authorised visitors must bring written evidence of their 2020 influenza vaccination. While there are 3 exemptions requiring a GP letter – Guillane-Barre Syndrome, Cancer Treatments and Anaphylaxis – visitors are encouraged to not visit wherever possible if not vaccinated.
The government released the Industry Visitor Access Code in May 2020 which sets out visiting principles, rights and responsibilities of providers and visitors. The Kalyna Care Board maintains its position to limit visits to palliative or end-of-life and compassionate and care and support grounds. Kalyna Care believes in a measured approach in easing its restrictions which have been in place since March 27, and especially where staff have worked tirelessly to keep the virus at bay.
An In-Person visit room has been created for a 30-minute no contact safe distancing visit for one visitor per resident per day. The booking time-slot is 60 minutes to allow time for the entry screening process and to disinfect the room between visits. The room will only be available on week-days between 9am to 3pm. Weekend visits remain via the air-lock or SKYPE sessions. Please ring to book an in-Person visit. Please do not come earlier than the appointment time as we are managing the number of visitors in the facility. As there is limited time-slots available, we ask for your cooperation to book only one week in advance and preferably not every day to allow other visitors the opportunity to visit their loved ones.
Otherwise, please keep away to keep your loved ones safe and alive, stay home and stay safe. As you have read in the media, the Council areas of Brimbank and Hume now make up a quarter of Melbourne’s active COVID-19 cases. Kalyna Care resides in the Brimbank Council, which now has the highest number of active cases in the State as of 16 May 2020. [Source: The Age] On 1 May 2020, the Dept of Health provided all aged care operators with vouchers to have all staff tested for COVID-19. At this stage, all staff who attended the participating testing stations returned a negative result. However, with the easing of restrictions by the Victorian Government this week, it is therefore even more important to stay vigilant and where possi-ble stay away from the facility if you do not have to absolutely visit.
CAPITAL PROJECTS UPDATE
The Significant Refurbishment project is nearing its end with 40 rooms in the older section renovated. This means that only the Major Extension builders will be on site from July onwards. Please note that from 19 May to 20 May – the front car park will be closed to allow for repair due to rain and mud damage.
Kalyna Care would
like to Thank
Mr Mychajlyszyn
for his generous
Donation.
