MESSAGE FOR THE OUTGOING BATCH OF CLASS X (2017-18) Dear students,

Yesterday (17.02.2018) was the farewell function organised for you (the outgoing batch of Class 10,2017-

18). While the programme was going on we teachers got some time to laze around. Sitting in front of the stage

and watching the excitement of students (both of the hosts(Class9) and the guests) was fun. During the chit

chat with Francis Aloor PRT our discussion touched upon the wonder of the literary world –William Shake-

speare. „Could Shakespeare alone produce such a volume of literary work? Can one man in his lifetime

achieve such a feat?‟ were the points of debate. I leave it to the research scholars to make an authoritative

    statement on that.

On returning home, the thought process in me continued. I realized that some people are more successful than

others. Abdul Kalam, Homi Bhabha , Mahatma Gandhi- all had only 24 hours at their disposal. I, Joseph,

have the same number of hours. You students too have the same number of hours. I feel that a proper time

management can make a huge difference in our life. I would like to focus on a few things that could make a

difference in your immediate preparation for the forthcoming examinations.

    a) Realise that “we have more than enough TIME and energy to get the important things done today.” For the

immediate purpose, of course it is your study.

    b) Review your To-Do List, and list out high-priority ones and target them first.

    c) Avoid insisting on more than what you can handle. Work steadily towards your goals.

    d) Schedule some extra time to cope with contingencies and emergencies. Leaving some open space in your

schedule gives you the flexibility you need to rearrange tasks and respond to important and unforeseen issues

    as they arise.

    e) Mobile games and social media are real time guzzlers. Regulate internet usage and have limits on „screen

time‟, i.e. the time spent in front of television, tablets and smart phones. Putting your tablet and phone in an-

other room before every new study session will ensure a better output.

    f) Unfollow everyone on social media during this period, except those people you care about

    g) And the most important, if you don‟t understand a concept, speak to your teacher. This can save a lot of

time in the long run as you are clearing your doubts as they rise.

Wish every best in the examinations to come and in the journey of life ahead……..

  • ISSUE 3 Page 15
