Antonio (Tony) Amaral Creating Clarity with Words, Visuals, and Interactive Multimedia Over 30 Years
of Providing Professional Communication and Instructional Design Services.
Instructional Design
SAIT: 1983 – 1996
Learning has been a life-long passion and my curiosity has led me naturally into an educational focus within every professional role throughout my career.
My grounding in adult education theory was formed
through 11 years of experience in roles within an academic environment. I was exposed to both theory and application in the development of instructional design processes.
The results of my efforts then were to create an
educational facilitation program I was informed was regarded as the most advanced in the province.
I accomplished this in the role of Educational Counsellor to
design, develop, and deliver training for communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, conflict resolution, peer counselling, effective meetings, and negotiation skills. I also provided educational support with student government development initiatives in strategic and tactical planning.
An accomplishment I am most proud of during my tenure
was to be responsible for initiating the first ever collaborative venture between Calgary's three major post-secondary educational institutions. Globel eSeminars: 1999 – 2002
I increased the value of a start-up elearning company by 30% as Creative Director. I designed and developed a communications strategy and production process within a user-focused architecture I also participated in architecting. My experience with LMS/CMS/LCMS began while developing a custom architecture prior to the advent of standards like SCORM.
I created an instructional design and development
production process for constructing leading edge eLearning experiences while supporting a business model of repurposing subject matter expert material into online courses called eSeminars.
My role also included identity and communications
strategy, design, and production of collateral for in-house and stakeholder promotions.
Contractor Consultant: 2002 – present
I have created value for household brands in a range of training needs including for onboarding, sales, software and UI skills, and a variety of business-related knowledge transfer needs (legal, harm reduction, security, and project management).
My instructional design experience includes involvement
throughout all phases in the knowledge transfer design, development, and delivery process. I have created self-directed and instructor assisted (both virtual and in-class) programs.
I am a very cable researcher with experience in all phases
of the analysis, design, production, and evaluation process, to provide a turnkey solution toward an effective and engaging training program. My experience in working closely with Subject Matter Experts has given me valuable insights into a variety of knowledge domains for which I’m grateful.
My strengths in the production process include varying
aspects of my background and projects emphasising communication for awareness purposes over education.
Communication Design
My background and experience with visual and written languages enhances my leveraging of technology for achieving clarity, effective knowledge transfer, increased retention, and maximizing engagement.
My user experience insight in the design process is
enhanced by the knowledge gained through development of educational programs for adult students. Understanding the learning process also enhances interface development and a background in community development provides insight into the development of integrated social learning strategies.
My multimedia and web development production
experience includes the creation of dynamic assets which also contribute toward successful education and training programs.
