FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this latest edition of the newsletter finds you well.

It has been a wonderful fortnight in our community with Junior Cricket beginning on Monday afternoons, the Welcome

Night/Annual Community Meeting being enjoyed on Tuesday evening and Meet the Teacher learning conversations being

held this week and next.

Welcome Night/Annual Community Meeting

Thank you to staff, volunteers and in particular our OSHC group for co-ordinating this significant event and to everyone

who attended. I particularly enjoyed the singing, dancing and the wonderful food on offer.

For me, creating and sharing of home-cooked meal is a significant ingredient to building community. Through the

preparing and sharing of food, we come together and celebrate, share our thoughts, meet others, nourish our bodies and

serve each other. I always find these times to be so life-giving for people of all ages. Sometimes our busy lives can

impact on these opportunities at home or beyond.

A booklet that contained written reports from the leaders in our community was prepared and shared with everyone

present. An electronic copy of this booklet will be sent home via SeeSaw for you to read. I thank School Board Chair

Jasmin Munro, PFC Member Monique Russell and Tracy McIntyre our bursar for their informative reports.

During the ACM we received two nominations for the School Board for 2019/20. I welcome Chelsea Hendy and

Samantha Roach who are both parents of children in our school. I look forward to Chelsea and Samantha contributing to

our growing, evolving learning community.

I am currently collecting the thoughts of staff, students and families to inform our ongoing strategic planning into the

future. Last night I also invited parents to record their thinking in response to the following three questions:

What are successes at Antonio Catholic School?

What contributes to successful teaching and learning at Antonio?

What are the possibilities and opportunities for Antonio into the future?

For those of you who couldn’t make it last night or you were not able to write everything you wanted to, you are

welcome to click on the link below to record your thoughts via this short three question survey. This link will also be sent

via SeeSaw. I hope to hear from you soon. The link to the survey is:

Updated School Website

During the ACM, we also launched our updated school website which will provide information and connecting

opportunities with prospective, new and continuing families at Antonio. We look forward to this site growing and

changing to meet the needs of our community and also share our wonderful Antonio story with the rest of the world.

Please find our website here: https://www.antonio.catholic.edu.au

Meet the Teacher Learning Conversations

I trust you will be enjoying the learning conversations with your child and their teacher(s), where you can share

information about your child’s learning journey to date, the successes, challenges and the opportunities for growth which

will be recorded as goals. I encourage you to come prepared to share your thinking, listen to your child’s and their

teachers thinking and be ready to work as a team to set goals for your child’s learning and growth.

SeeSaw – Be connected

I encourage you to connect with your child’s SeeSaw account if you haven’t already, so their learning journey and

information about class or community events can be shared directly with you. You are more than welcome to respond

with a comment or question using the app or in person.

I wish you all the best for a wonderful fortnight ahead until our next newsletter.

Many blessings,

Anthony Garton

Principal

APRIM

Below is a letter of appreciation from John McCormack, St Vincent de Paul Society, thanking our

school community for their generosity of gift giving throughout 2018.

We may never see the end results, but a simple gesture can make such a difference to someone’s life.

WELCOME NIGHT AND ACM

Many thanks to the families and friends of Antonio for supporting this event. It was a wonderful evening where

many new friendships were made whilst enjoying the choir performance, the parents who organised the drinks

stall and for the food that was lovingly prepared by parents and staff of our school.

I would like to thank the following local stores who supported us with donations towards supplying the food:

Woolworths at Hackham

Foodland at Morphett Vale

It would be great if you could support these stores and perhaps mention that your child attends Antonio. Great

feedback for the managers and we may receive continued support for future events.
