 Anti   Ragging Regulations Ragging is strictly banned at NIIT University. Anyone found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging, whether actively or passively, or being a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished in acco rdance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 as well as under the penal law for the time being in force. UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 is available at University’s Digital Library link https://moodle.niituniversity.in/digital_library/content/136  which can be accessed through Moodle following below mentioned path: Login Nucleus < Digital Content Library < Miscellaneous < Academic Office < Rules & Regulations Students must not indulge in any form of ragging or such activity that can even be remotely associated with or termed as ragging b y any fresher. According to the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India ragging includes " disorde rl y be havior or  tr eatme nt wi th f e ll ow s tudent whethe r by wor ds , s poken or written or by an act whi ch h as the e f fect of tea s in g, treati ng and h andli ng wi th r udenes s any other student, indulgi ng i n r owdy or in de cent activiti e s , whi ch may caus e o r is li kely to caus e phys ical or ps ychological h arm or to r aise f e ar or apprehension thereof i n a fr e s her or a ju ni or student" .  Punishment for students directly or indirectly involved in Ragging and its abetment can be as follows:  Cancellation of admission  Fine  Suspension from attending classes  Suspension / expulsion from the hostel

Anti – Ragging Regulations

Ragging is strictly banned at NIIT University. Anyone found guilty of ragging and/or abetting

ragging, whether actively or passively, or being a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, is

liable to be punished in accordance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of 

Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 as well as under the penal law for the

time being in force.

effect of teasing, treating and handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in r owdy or 

indecent activiti es, which may cause or is li kely to cause physical or psychological harm or to 

raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fr esher or a junior student" . 

Punishment for students directly or indirectly involved in Ragging and its abetment can be as

follows:

  Cancellation of admission

  Fine

  Suspension from attending classes

  Suspension / expulsion from the hostel

  Expulsion from the Institute

  Lodging of FIR / Police action against Offender/s

  Rigorous imprisonment up to 3 years (under the Court of Law)

Students are advised to report immediately any instance of Ragging to University’s Ragging

Squad and can also send email at Students Grievance Soft Box id : [email protected]
