WeareheretodayasGrassrootsPeopleswhoareopposedtotheunjust andillegalBritishColumbi
TreatyProcess.
Thisisaprocessof AboriginalTitleandRightsextinguishment nomatterif thetermsusedare
“certainty”,“non‐assertionof rights”ormodi iedrights”,theresult isthesame,theeliminationof
our AboriginalTitleandRightsassovereignIndigenousNationsandsurrendertothelawsof BCan
CanadatobecomemerelyethnicmunicipalitiesandCanadiancitizens.
TheB.C.TreatyProcessgivesunfairadvantagetothe“YES”sidewithinourIndigenouscommunitie
andNations. Allof thehundredsof millionsof dollarsinfunding,legal,technicalandadvisorysup‐
port goestotheChiefsandCouncils,Staff andNegotiatorswhoareultimatelyinvestedingettinga
“YES”votefromthePeoplestoFinalTreatySettlement offersfromtheBC&Federalgovernments.
Werepresent not onlythe“NO”sideinthevotesheldinLheidliT’enneh,Tsawwassenandthoseop
posedtotheTla’aminTreatyvote,but wealsogivevoicetothoseIndigenousPeoplesopposedto
theBCTreatyProcessthroughout therest of theBCregion.
OURPOSITION:
Wecallforanimmediatehalt toall“Treaty”votesthroughout theBCregion,untilthenegotia‐
tionstoreformthefederalComprehensiveClaimsPolicyhaveconcludedbetween Assemblyof
First NationsComprehensiveClaimsWorkingGroupandtheGovernment of Canada.
Wecallforopenforumsthroughout theBCregiontobeheldforallinterestedIndigenousPeo‐
plestodiscussacomparisonof thekeyclausesofferedbytheBCandFederalgovernmentsat
various“TreatyTables”that negativelyimpact the AboriginalTitleandRightsof IndigenousNa‐
tions.
Wecallforanendtotheuseof theracist “Doctrineof Discovery”bytheBCandFederalgovern‐
mentsasjusti icationforthetheft of Indigenouslandsandresources.
WecallforallBCregionalIndigenousleaderstofullyrespect andimplement theUnitedNations
DeclarationontheRightsof IndigenousPeoplesinanyprocessaffectingthe AboriginalTitle,
RightsorSovereigntyof anyIndigenouscommunityorNationintheBCregion,includingthe
right toFree,PriorInformedConsent (Article28).
