SchedulePOLICE STANDING ORDERS.

1. In these standing orders the Police Standing Orders 1968 asprinted in the Government Gazette on the 22nd July, 1968 and alsopublished in the special Police Gazette on the 7th August, 1968 andthereafter from time to time amended by notices so printed andpublished, are referred to as the principal orders .

2 . Suborder (1) of order 1009 of the principal orders is amendedby adding after the word "Superintendent", in line two of paragraph(e), the words "or the person acting in that position at the time" .

3. Order 1011 of the principal orders is revoked and remade asfollows :-

1011 . (1) The Deputy Commissioner and the Assistant Com-missioner, or the persons acting in those respective positions atthe time, and seven Superintendents, seven Senior Inspectors,and seven Inspectors shall, subject to suborder (2) of thisorder, constitute the Promotions Appeal Board and have a votein the decision of the Board .

(2) The Superintendents, Senior Inspectors and Inspectors re-ferred to in suborder (1) of this order shall be selected by ballotbut the District Officer of the Northern District or any officerof brevet rank shall not be selected .

(3) The Promotions Appeal Board may function when theDeputy Commissioner and the Assistant Commissioner, pr thepersons acting in those respective positions at the time, and atleast five-sevenths of the commissioned officers selected in ac-cordance with suborder (2) of this order are present but whereany one of the commissioned officers selected in accordance withsuborder (2) of this order is unable to attend a session of theBoard by reason of sudden illness or other cause acceptable tothe Commissioner and the Commissioner receives notice to thateffect before the commencement of the session, the Board mayadjourn the session for one hour for sufficient commissionedofficers, who are stationed in the Metropolitan Area and areavailable, to be selected by a special ballot to make up the num-ber of seven Superintendents, Senior Inspectors, and Inspectorsrespectively as members of the Board for the session with avote in the decision of the Board in the session .

(4) Members of the Promotions Selection Board shall attendall hearings of the Promotions Appeal Board and assist it butshall not have a vote in its decision.

(5) The Deputy Commissioner or the person acting in thatposition at the time shall be chairman of the Board. .

8 . The lessee shall indemnify the Ministerfor Lands against all claims for damageto property or persons arising from theuse of the land .

9 . Compensation will not be payable fordamage by flooding of the demised land .

10 . Compensation shall not be payable to thelessee in respect of any improvementseffected by him on the demised land andremaining thereon at the expiration orearlier determination of the lease .

11 . It shall be lawful for the lessee at anytime within the three calendar monthsimmediately following the expiration ofthe term or earlier determination of thelease, to take down, remove and carryaway any buildings, structures, improve-ments and plant the property of thelessee.

If permission is not grantedby the Council or its duly authorised officer, youshall comply with the requirements of this notice ."Inflammable material" is defined for the

purpose of this notice to include bush, timber,boxes, cartons, paper and like inflammablematerials, rubbish, and also any combustiblematter, but does not include green standing trees,or growing bushes and plants in gardens or lawns .

The penalty for failing to comply with this noticeis a fine of not less than $10, nor more than $200and a person in default is also liable, whetherprosecuted or not, to pay the cost of performingthe work directed in this notice if it is not carriedout by the owner or occupier by the date requestedby this notice .If the requirements of this notice are carried

If it is considered impracticable to provide fire-breaks in the position required by this notice orwithin the prescribed time, you should apply forthe approval of the Council to construct suchfirebreaks in an alternative position or for anextension of time .Approval to any such variation will only be

granted where the Bush Fire Control Officer forthe area has first signified his approval .

Where your land abuts a road, you may apply forCouncil's approval to burn the area between theroad pavement and your fence and this could thenbe accepted as a suitable firebreak.
