1. ANTEROS at a Glance

ANTEROS offers various advan-tages over its competitors:

ANTEROS comes with a wide range of functions for structuring your product data (PIM), which eases the maintenance of techni-cal products. The media database (MAM) gives you structured access to image, video, audio, and document files. Uploaded images are automati-cally converted in various formats for print and web. In addition, you can convert the images on-demand in other formats. The print engine and the web shop functionalities are fully inte-grated with the PIM and the MAM modules. Using the web interface, you can generate complete print catalogs,

So you can generate customer specific catalogs at any time without additional work – a feature highly welcomed by companies already running ANTEROS. ANTEROS’s web modules let your customers search for your products in your web catalog, web shop or via Apps and, if required, order products from within these applications. The efficiency of translating product descriptions is increased by an integrated dictionary and the reuse of translations already made and approved. Translations can be entered via Web forms and by exporting and importing MS-Excel tables. Product data stored in other systems can be imported into ANTEROS using the inbuilt flexible import framework and can be exported for diverse destinations and purposes by a likewise flex-ible inbuilt export framework. Your staff or business partners can administrate their data in a centralized database via web applications without the need for installing software systems on their local workstations.

2. The ANTEROS Modules

Since ANTEROS has a modular structure, you can gradually add functionality based on your require-ments. So you don’t spend money on modules you don’t need, but just on those items that increase your business performance. If it turns out that you need to integrate additional ANTEROS modules, they can be seamlessly added to provide further benefits to your company.

ANTEROS provides the following modules:

ANTEROS.pim lets you maintain product data and product clas-sifications. In addition, you can create texts, parameters, and dif-ferent product relationships very efficiently in a web based fashion. ANTEROS.tsl offers functional-ity for cutting the time you spend on translation tasks and increases the uniformity of your transla-tions. Text elements are stored in a centralized database. Initial characters of words you type in a data input field are expanded au-tomatically to the complete words or even strings of words (as stored in the dictionary). Transla-tions can be added online or by using MS-Excel tables. ANTEROS.wf for workflow driven business processes ANTEROS.mam lets you admin-istrate image, video, audio, and document files centrally in your company. They can be easily re-trieved and converted on-demand to other file formats. ANTEROS.mp enables your sales staff, distributors, and custom-ers (if granted the privileges) to search for images in a very user-

friendly way and download them in different formats. ANTEROS.print provides the functionality required for gener-ating on-demand catalogs, price lists, and data sheets for all or a defined subset of your products. ANTEROS.webprint gives your customers access to the print functionality within your web cat-alog and web shop, e.g. for print-ing the most up-to-date version of your product data sheets.

ANTEROS.web implements a web catalog or web shop with user-friendly search functionality, a product comparison list and a shopping basket for orders that will be examined by your sales staff prior to execution (web cata-log) or online orders for fully au-tomatic execution (web shop).

ANTEROS.webapp, ANTER-OS.iphone, ANTEROS.android provide apps that come with user-friendly product search function-ality for use on iPhones, Android, or other smartphone platforms.

ANTEROS.spare lets you use special functions for spare part

catalogs. You can create Hotspots for spare part drawings which en-ables your web shop user to click on spare parts within the drawing to place that part in the shopping basket.

ANTEROS.imex supplies func-tionality for importing existing product and classification data in an XML, CSV, or MS-Excel for-mat with a flexible import export framework. Data can be exported in these formats for different ap-plication areas. The ANTEROS.webex module provides also the users of your web catalog and web shop with export functional-ity.

3. Product Information Management (PIM)

With ANTEROS, managing your product data becomes very efficient.

ANTEROS comes with the following functionality and properties:

Structuring your data You can assign classifications, product families, and text elements, which let you create structures that accommodate your product data and reduce the maintenance work load once your system is in production.

Creating classifications You create one or more classifi-cations and assign your products to product categories, subcat-egories, etc. By a classification you can search product data easier, employ it as a search structure in the web shop, as a table of contents in the print catalog or for exporting data for distributors.

Parameters Especially in technical fields, products can be described by a number of parameters. ANTER-OS lets you attach parameters in a flexible way to the classification tree and make categories inherit and overload parameters. In ad-dition, you can combine several parameters to form structured types. You can define parameters as required or optional and pre-define a list of legal values / text elements. When entering prod-uct data, the system provides pull-down lists with these values to keep the user from entering illegal values.

User-friendly data entry Those of your staff in charge of maintaining your product data can enter descriptions, param-eter values, product images, and drawings in several tabs in a well-structured fashion. Product families make it easy to man-age image and parameter values efficiently for several product variants.

Data change history This functionality displays all changes made to the data of each individual product, each product family, category and parameter, but also of the entire system. It shows which user made what changes and when he did so.

Process support Configurable workflows let you define process steps and staff in charge of them, e.g. to precisely release the status of product data, before they become visible in the web shop.

User administration for granting granular privileges With ANTEROS you can define roles and privileges to access certain data and operations.

Multiple char set support You can enter and administrate product data in different lan-guages. ANTEROS supports the UNICODE character set and assists you not only in updating your data, but also exports print docu-ments, web catalogs, web shops, and apps in languages that use various different char sets such as Cyrillic and the characters re-quired for Chinese and Japanese.

4. Translation Memory (TSL)

ANTEROS comes equipped with a dictionary (Translation Memory) that grows gradually as you add text elements assigned to your product data. It adds efficiency and uniformity to your translation works.

Text reuse Every time you type the first letters of a word in a data input field, ANTEROS offers you one or several expansions which cor-respond to entries already stored in the dictionary. This type of support increases the uniformity of your translations, often frees you from consulting additional dictionaries and thus increases efficiency and quality at the same time.

Text merging If you have stored identical or similar texts in ANTEROS as a re-sult of data import from another system, you can merge them with ANTEROS to create a single dictionary entry. If there are several identical entries of your master language (say, English), but they were assigned differ-ent translations, these entries are displayed together with the translations. You can select the most suitable among them and merge the dictionary entries to a single entry, or – based on these details – opt to maintain more than one.

Translating with web forms If your regional subsidiaries or partners are to enter translations directly in the system, you can define user roles that restrict write access to the relevant sub-set of data so that no changes can be made to other languages and to data that are independent of a particular language. As with using MS-Excel, text ele-ments that have changed since they were translated for the last time are highlighted by colors so that changing only bits of larger pieces of text can be easily done. In addition, an integrated ma-chine translation tool can option-ally perform a pre-translation for new text elements to further cut the time required for translation.

Integrating TMS You can interface ANTEROS with translation memory systems such as Trados, Across, etc.

Translating using MS-EXCEL MS-EXCEL is typically used when you work with external transla-tors or if large amounts need to be translated. In addition, differences between the old and the new texts are high-lighted by colors, so that chang-ing only bits of larger pieces of text can be easily done.

5. Media Asset Management (MAM)

ANTEROS.mam provides the follow-ing functionality:

Easy-to-use search function-ality lets you search efficiently in a web-based fashion for images, videos, and document files by keywords, product categories and even category trees, time stamps or characteristics such as author or image resolution.

Centralized storage of media objects: Video, audio, image, and document files can be stored in a centralized fashion. Some meta data such as image resolu-tion are directly extracted from these files.

Automatic image conversion: It’s sufficient to store an image file with a high resolution only. ANTEROS converts the file auto-matically to the formats you need (e.g. print draft, Web, or thumb-nail). If an image needs to be changed or replaced, only one file needs to be considered, so that you don’t run the risk of forget-ting one of them and create in-consistent data by updating only a subset of all stored variants.

also in the file formats ANTEROS has automatically generated. In addition, you can have ANTE-ROS generate additional formats on demand, such as EPS or PDF. This functionality will help you to respond to requests from dis-tributors by performing just a few clicks. A file folder lets you apply operations to download or gener-ate new formats to a selection of media files and so adds efficiency if you are dealing with a large number of files.

Easy upload of media files: The media manager makes it easy to store and administrate video, audio, image, and docu-ment files in the media database. In addition, they can be easily as-signed to products stored in the product database.

Adding meta data: To make the search for video, audio, im-age, and document files easier, you assign categories, descrip-tions, keywords or other meta-

data (such as author or project).

Placing constraints on uni-formity: You can place a wide range of restrictions on properties of your media files, e.g. to allow only image files that are based on the CMYK color model. ANTEROS verifies for each file if it fulfills your criteria.

The media database can be used as a standalone solution or integrated with the PIM module, so that your images can be assigned to prod-ucts. When you use an integrated solution, you can easily find im-ages, videos, and documents by category search. To search for a media file by its category, you don’t even have to assign the category explicitly to the media file since it is automatically associated with the file via the product. So you can perform a focused search for files by metadata you didn’t even enter for these files. A considerable gain of efficiency.

6. Media Portal (MP)

The marketing departments of many companies are spending steadily growing amounts of time on fulfilling the requests of business partners or sales staff for product images, films or documents. To en-able those who need these images and documents to easily search for them and download them when-ever they like in whatever format they need, ANTEROS provides a media portal. You can grant access privileges to a certain group of users, restrict their privileges, and withdraw them.

User administration: You can grant access privileges to the persons you want to en-able to search and download images from the media portal. You can restrict these access privileges or even temporarily re-move the rights granted to cer-tain users.

Your corporate design Not only can the media portal feature your company’s logo, but it can implement all elements of your company’s corporate design.

Browsing categories: Users of the media portal can easily browse the product categories: e.g., starting from the main cate-gories via the subcategories: they always see the images that are assigned to the respective cat-egory or its subcategories. What is important from the point of view of efficiency: you don’t have to place the images/documents in the correct position in these search trees. Since you have as-signed the images/documents to the products and by virtue of the products’ being linked to the categories, the relationships between image/documents files and categories is visible. So you spend less time on adding infor-mation but nevertheless users of your media portal can easily find images and documents.

Downloading files: Images, films or documents can be down-loaded in their original format. Images can also be downloaded in any format ANTEROS converts it to (e.g. print draft, web format or thumbnails).

7. Print Generation

The rule-driven print engine of ANTEROS can handle a much wider scope of tasks and is even faster than engines used by other catalog systems that have grown out of template-based database publishing technology. ANTEROS.print enables the fully automatic generation even of documents with a complex structure without the need for post-editing with type setting applications such as InDesign.

ANTEROS.print provides you with the following advantages:

More flexible layout and 100% automation: The layout of printed pages is considerably more flexible than with competi-tor systems while maintaining a fully automatic process. ANTE-ROS uses flexible rules instead of rigid, page-oriented templates as used by other systems. So even text documents with complex structures can be generated in a fully automatic fashion based on just a few set of rules, while sys-tems competing with ANTEROS would need a vast amount of in-dividual templates. For instance, the ANTEROS-based catalog of the German company ASV Stübbe is generated by only 5 print rules for the technical catalog instead of more than 100 templates in a solution offered by a competitor.

Faster: The time required for generating print files is cut con-siderably, actually by a factor of 20. So ANTEROS generates a given catalog in 20 minutes in-stead of 8 hours. The tighter the deadlines under which your staff has to work, the more will a high-performance print engine be ap-preciated.

Print-on-demand: ANTEROS can generate print documents as a whole or just excerpts of them. Even product catalogs with com-plex product tables can be gen-erated fully automatically. You don’t need an additional type set-ting system for this purpose as ANTEROS comes equipped with

the required functionality. So type setting costs are not incurred and this advantage applies to every edition and language version. It’s this wide scope of capabilities that enables many companies to pub-lish customer-specific catalogs – e.g. quarterly catalogs of new products - which would consume a lot of resources without the au-tomatic ANTEROS processes.

Web-based user interface: Your staff and distributors, part-ners or even customers can gen-erate data sheets or catalogs at any time, distributors even with their companies’ logos.

Fully-integrated with the prod-uct information management (PIM): There’s no need to trans-fer the data via an interface from the PIM system to the print mod-ule like in other PIM software.

Supports several character sets: You can generate with one system print documents in English, Rus-sian, or Chinese, without having to load the required fonts for the other character sets. A print cata-log in your customer’s language gives you a considerable competi-tive advantage.

Before ANTEROS generates the documents, you can specify some characteristics, e.g., whether or not you want to print prices, specify a distributor logo, select a high resolu-tion (for your print shop) or a lower resolution (for attaching the docu-ment to emails).Cover pages or additional image pages can be added at any position, directly in ANTEROS.If you want to post-edit the layout of some documents, you can select the INX output format and perform the changes in Adobe InDesign.

ANTEROS.print is the only PIM to generate print documents in a fully automatic fashion so that no separate type setting is required.

8. Web Catalogs, Web Shops, and Apps

ANTEROS.web adds to your web site an interactive catalog or web shop. Depending on your requirements the product data are not only displayed, but products can be compared and ordered by browsing through categories or search by parameters or keywords. The layout can be adapted to suit your individual requirements.

ANTEROS-based web catalogs, web shops, and apps provide the follow-ing features:

Responsive Web design: The ANTEROS-based web catalogs and web shops can also be ac-cessed on tablets and smart phones. The look and feel of the Web forms is optimized for those devices.

Easy to use product search: In addition to a key word search, products can be searched in a more constrained fashion via cat-egories and parametric restric-tions. So product configurators can be realized.

No 0-hits searches: A configu-rator makes sure your selection lists are automatically reduced, because web catalog searches are aborted by users who get stuck in a dead ended search. ANTEROS supports you in avoid-ing dead ended searches.

You can specify which prod-uct data are displayed: wheth-er it includes prices, technical parameters, photos, drawings, links, download links, etc.

Cross Selling: The user can ac-cess with just a mouse click de-tailed information about related products such as accessories or spare parts for the article.

Product comparison: The user can collect several relevant prod-ucts and gets a comparison list

from the PIM module. The deep integration of the PIM and Web modules frees you from configur-ing or even programming inter-faces to other applications.

Your corporate design: The layout of your web catalog, web shop, and apps will be adapted in a rule-based fashion to your re-quirements.

Integration in your web pag-es: You can maintain your com-plete Web site with ANTEROS. Besides the web catalog / shop, you can create image pages such as Contact, Imprint, and About via the ANTEROS.pim module. Alternatively, you can integrate the ANTEROS web catalog or web shop into your existing Web site, also if you use a Content Management System (CMS), such as Typo3, Wordpress, OpenCMS, etc.

Interfacing with other shop solutions based on Magento, OXID, ...: You can either employ the integrated ANTEROS shop module or use interfaces to oth-er shop systems to display your product data and images in your web shop, i.e., the product data you centrally maintain in the PIM and MAM modules of ANTEROS.

9. Integration with other Systems, flexible Import Export Framework

ANTEROS comes with various interfaces and a powerful Import Export Framework for taking over data from other systems (SAP, Navision/Microsoft Dynamics NAV, TecDoc, Magento, Typo3,...) and export data for the most diverse purposes. ANTEROS offers function interfaces and data interfaces for this purpose.

Function interfaces are provided as web services. They allow for example, to display product data or category trees of the ANTEROS.pim module in other systems such as CMS, shop solutions, or ERP systems.

In addition Web services let you display sales prices and available quantities stored in your ERP sys-tem in the ANTEROS web shop.

As data interfaces, the ANTEROS Import Framework offers the import of data in formats such as XML, CSV, TecDoc, and MS-Excel. This allows you, for instance, to import master data such as article numbers and prices in ANTEROS on a regular basis and to subsequently beautify them with texts, images, and relationships in ANTEROS.pim.

Via the Export Framework of ANTE-ROS, data can be exported in the most different formats. Besides formats such as XML, CSV, and MS-Excel, product data can also be exported in formats such as BMEcat, Datanorm, and Arge. If some of your distributors or partners request only a subset of the available characteristics of your products, you can define data export profiles on your own. The export profiles editor of ANTEROS allows you to specify the required columns of the product table. Us-ing such an export profile you can export the datasets so defined any number of times.The import and export interfaces are flexible enough to let you di-

rectly export parameter definitions you have just finished creating. It will be exported a new column of an MS-Excel table without any pro-gramming. Hence, there is no need for changing the interface when you add new data field definitions in ANTEROS.

With ANTEROS you can map your product data also to other classifi-cations, e.g. if your customer wants the product data of all suppliers to be compliant with the eCl@ss standard.

You can export all products, but also place restrictions on the sets of products that will be exported. The products can be filtered by search conditions, e.g. all products

with feature-value pairs target group=industry. Alternatively a folder can be used to select specific products.

However, if a customer or partner request your product data in a different structure than you have realized in your product database, INCONY can implement this format with the powerful XPEL rule lan-guage. Using such an export, you can export the product data in that proprietary format continuously.

Data export comprises not only textual product descriptions, but also images, e.g., if you want to send character-based descriptions and images to a business partner running an online shop..
