• An additive scattering mechanism
• For current-based antennas integrated directly onto
a convex conducting platform
• “Paints” PO currents in shadow on platform
sourced from antenna
• Why is it needed?
• Due to antenna proximity to the platform, the
antenna is unable to “paint” sufficient ground
currents, leading to inaccurate far fields
• Creeping wave physics….
• Removes the unphysical PO discontinuity
at the lit-shadow transition (artificial diffraction
boundary
• Produces more accurate installed far field
patterns
