Exposing CMS in ANSYS Meshing (ACT)

• Solving larger FE models still remains a challenge… • Approach of using “Superelements” will provide efficient solution for large

assemblies without losing accuracy. • Extension helps user to define/organize the Superelements, export/reuse

in different analyses


• Perhaps the most common application of spot welding is in the automobile manufacturing industry, where it is used almost universally to weld the sheet metal to form a car.

• The extension exposes the feature to Mechanical for creating spot welds using locations

Typically, a car body contains about 5000 spot welds joining sheets of different thicknesses.

• Finding the stress in the these joins is most critical part of the mechanical simulations

• Creating imprints on the surfaces is a repetitive task for designers/CAE experts
