Meet the teamKate SuttonBA (Hons) Fashion Styling From a young age, creativity is something I have felt an affinity with. To me, there is nothing moreinvigorating than the satisfaction of realising yourideas. My time at university has given me the
chance to allow my passion to flourish. It has given me confidenceto take what I love to a new level. The support and encouragementof course tutors has been an invaluable resource in seeking andconfirming where I fit into the creative industry. I have felt apersonal connection with this course and have enjoyed everysuccess and embraced every challenge to learn and live my passion.

invaluable skills, which will help me when embarking on my chosencareer. anon magazine is a visual showcase for the
final-year students of BA (Hons) Fashion Styling
and BA (Hons) Make-Up and Hair Design.
Submissions from students are chosen by a team
of staff and students to represent some of the
outstanding work of the year.
Fashion Styling BA (Hons)
This dynamic course will give you the creative,technical and business skills you’ll need to become a successful stylist.
Course length: 3 years UCAS code: W290
Course overviewVisual image is key to the success of products, brands, the media and celebrities. This course aims to teach students the creative,technical and business skills required by the industry, enabling themto be successful stylists and visual communicators. Students learnhow stylists work within magazines, advertising, design, catwalkshows, digital media and e-commerce. You’ll develop an informedand innovative visual language through studying the historical and contemporary context underpinning the subject. Students take part in work experience and live projects with fashion
industry partners such as Atelier Mayer, Uniqlo, Save the Children and Illamasqua. Industry experts regularly visit and give input to thecourse. Students produce a professional portfolio, website and CVand are encouraged to develop their professional network.
Entry level • 240 points tariff points.• Applicants with the relevant entry requirements will be invited to a portfolio viewing.
Fashion Styling and Make-Up for Media BA (Hons) (Top-up)
This flexible course allows students to experience the diverse aspects of fashion styling and make-up and to prepare for an exciting career in the industry.
Course length: 1 year UCAS code: W231
Course overviewThis one-year top-up course offers a fast-paced preparation for the fashion styling and make-up industry.You will study generic units that allow you to specialise in fashion
styling or make-up and hair design.Initially you will undertake a unit that links to industry and gives
an insight into forecasting for fashion and beauty. You will build on this with a personalised major project. This is supported by an option for either a dissertation or a shorter dissertation withpractice element that helps to build your understanding of yourspecialist area. You are also supported in building a professionalwebsite and portfolio.
Entry level • Relevant HND/Foundation degree pass with Merit overall (55%)or 240 CATS from a relevant three-year degree.
• UK applicants are required to attend a portfolio viewing.
Make-Up and Hair Design BA (Hons)
This creative, conceptual and forward-thinkingcourse seeks to treat the face and body as a canvas,equipping you with the skills and knowledge for anexciting career in make-up and hair design.
Course length: 3 years UCAS code: W453
Course overviewThis course will support you in learning high-level professional designskills which seek to treat the face and body as a canvas. You will learnhow to research and develop make-up and hair design concepts andsee these through to realisation. You will work in a professional make-up and hair design studio for
practical make-up workshops, and have the opportunity to work onlocation. You will develop skills in photography and image retouching,and come to understand the impact of social and cultural theory on design practices through historical and contemporary studies.Skills in pre-production planning, research and scheduling, scene
storyboarding, character development, presenting ideas, business skills,designing colour palettes, lighting techniques and photographic stylingwill give you a broad range of specialised industry-standard skills.

The coursesThe Media and Fashion Styling Programme is exciting and innovativein its approach to Fashion Styling and Make-Up and Hair Design as academic subjects. Equally as important as the programme’stheoretical emphasis, is the high level of image production createdby our students. Our courses develop highly skilled visual practitioners through
a unique combination of teaching informed by industry experienceand theoretical underpinning. Our courses constantly evolve as wekeep pace with digital innovation and the changing nature of styling,make-up and hair design practice in the industry.
