COMFORT OF MIGRANTS Feast Day: June 22 (this was the date this title was added to the Litany of Loreto) During a homily last July, Pope Francis called on Christians to recognize the face of Christ in Migrants. He asked the Virgin Mary to help us discover the face of her son in all our brothers and sisters who are forced to flee their homeland because of the many injustices that still afflict our world today. Who else could better understand the state of migrants if not Mary, a 14 year old girl, with child, who traveled to Bethlehem on a donkey and then also the flight into Egypt. As we all make many moves and changes to come together as one parish, it is undeniably deserving to honor Our Lady through the title of Comfort of Migrants. CONSUELO DE LOS MIGRANTES Fiesta: 22 de junio (esta fue la fecha en que se agregó este título a las Letanías de Loreto) Durante una homilía en julio pasado, el Papa Francisco llamó a los cristianos a reconocer el rostro de Cristo en los migrantes. Pidió a la Virgen María que nos ayudara a descubrir el rostro de su hijo en todos nuestros hermanos y hermanas que se ven obligados a huir de su tierra natal por las muchas injusticias que aún afligen a nuestro mundo hoy. Quién más podría comprender mejor el estado de los migrantes sino María, una niña de 14 años, embarazada, que viajó a Belén en un burro y luego también la huida a Egipto. Como todos hacemos muchos movimientos y cambios para unirnos como una parroquia, es innegable que merecemos honrar a Nuestra Señora con el título de Consuelo de los Migrantes.

• Entrustment to Divine Providence Through MaryThese parishes, geographically on the East Side, served the growing ethnic flow, from the late 19th C, building both church and school. Jesus and Mary give us the example to follow ‘ not what I will but what you will’ ( Mk 14:36) and ‘May it be done according to Your will.’ God’s Plan continues to be present in these two Marian Hymns: ‘Salve Regina,’ and ‘Redemptoris Mater.’ The steel cross, in front of Annunciata Church, represents the people of this Southeast Side Community.

• Mother and Child- The painting by Scipione Pilgrone depicts the nourishing joy of the Child Jesus looking into the eyes of His Mother who, by her Fiat, is found in each Mystery of the ‘Seven Sorrows.’ The new parish will be nourished as each is loved as child of God. In John 19:26-27, Jesus, from the Cross, ‘ This your moth-er.’

• Growth of this new parish - The school, the only Catho-lic School remaining in the community has this motto: ‘Ad Majorem Dei Gloria per Mariam.’ The greater Glo-ry of God will be the focus of fostering, nourishing and consecrating our families to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

HOLY INFANT MARY Feast Day : September 8th (The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary) The Nativity of our Holy Infant Virgin Mary signifies the joyful beginning of a new life filled with grace, hope and the finality which is the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The unification of the four communities united represent a new beginning under the intercession, purity and hope that the Holy Infant Mary represents. Not only this, but also a remem-bering of the obedience toward God in uniting like true brothers and sisters and the praise to the one Holy Mary who helps us in this journey of faith. O Holy Infant Mary, intercede for us who have recourse to thee! SANTA VIRGEN MARÍA INFANTITA Fiesta: 8 de Septiembre (La Natividad de la Santísima Virgen María) Así como el Nacimiento de Nuestra Virgen María Infanti-ta señala el alegre comienzo de una vida nueva llena de gracia, esperanza y acercamiento a la finalidad que es la venida de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo. La unificación de las cuatro comunidades unidas repre-sentan un nuevo comienzo bajo la intercesión, pureza y esperanza que la Santa Virgen María Infantita representa. encuentra una de las imágenes más antiguas jamás generadas por cristianos. (salvado de los Iconoclas-tas a principios del siglo V.C. Nota: considere traer las estatuas, el crucifijo, los ángeles y el Santísimo Sacramento de cada parroquia en este proceso de renovación.

• Lugar de nacimiento de María, hija de Ana y Joa-quín y lugar de la Anunciación del ángel Gabriel

• La Sagrada Familia regresa, cuando está a salvo, después de la "Huida a Egipto".

• Referencias bíblicas a "Jesús de Nazaret" Juan 1:45 hace referencia al Hijo de José en el sentido legal. En Mateo 1 y Lucas 2, se hace referencia a que Je-sús tuvo padres judíos. gives reference to Son of Joseph in the legal sense. In Matthew 1 and Luke 2, gives reference to Jesus having Jewish parents. He was raised mostly in Nazareth, a Jewish town in Galilee. ( an Ecumenical note: Bethlehem Lutheran, Missouri Synod, was the first Church built on the Southeast Side dating back to 1870’s. A BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE BY JUNIOR HIGH In celebration of Día de los Muertos, our junior high along with their teach-ers Mrs. Reyes and Mrs. Navarro cre-ated an altar or “ofrenda” that hon-ored the students departed loved ones. The tributes featured pictures of great-grandmothers, great-grandfathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts and uncles along with items which repre-sented their personalities and inter-ests. The students also wrote messag-es dedicated to their relatives express-ing their love and asking God to grant them eternal life.

HALLOWEEN TRICKS AND TREATS Our students celebrated Halloween a little late this year, but it was worth it! Principal Moscinski had a treat of a game for all the students. They played "Guess How Many" to win a big buck-et of Halloween candy! Who was the lucky winner of the "Guess How Many" game? Kieran in 3rd grade! He guessed 136, just one shy of the total of 137! And Principal Moscinski had one more trick up her sleeve. She put yel-low tape under one desk in each class-room—each person who found the tape won a stuffed animal.
