What is the MSU Science Festival?

The MSU Science Festival inspires public and school audiences to explore the many ways that science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) touch our everyday lives and shape our future.

Featuring free, multi-day events, the Festival allows visitors to connect with STEAM topics, engage with STEAM researchers, educators, and professionals, and experience STEAM in exciting and fun new ways.

Something for Everyone

Expo Zones Over 100 engaging hands-on activities offering STEAM based experiments, games, and demonstrations designed for all ages.

Statewide Astronomy Night Planetariums and observatories across Michigan participate in a special evening of presentations and activities that reveal the secrets of our night sky.

Nights at the Museums An array of events such as behind-the-scenes tours, hands-on activities, and more are held at several museums across the state.

Science Cafes and Pub Nights Presenters step outside of their lab/classroom and into informal settings such as breweries, wineries, and cafes across the state to share their insights into a wide variety of topics across the STEAM disciplines.

Featured Guest Speakers The Festival brings notable guest speakers who have a wide audience appeal.

Take a Tour Day MSU departments on campus and partners across the state open their doors for one-of-a-kind tours.

Talks with the Experts Experts give engaging presentations about their field of study.

Detroit Days Explore the Expo Day, attend presentations at several venues, and visit some of Detroit’s acclaimed museums and cultural institutions.

K-12 Programming STEAM professionals share their work, stories, and careers through on-campus and in-school programming for Michigan school children.
