What is Title I?Title I is a program that provides additional academic support and learning opportunities for students at schools with high percentages of socioeconomically disadvantaged children.

The program is intended to help ensure that all students meet state academic standards.

Parent Involvement

The School Site Council (SSC) provides parents with an opportunity to be involved in the academic program of the school. The SSC develops, monitors, and evaluates the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) to implement programs and services that support students.

Single Plan for Students Achievement

or “SPSA”

• Parents are informed about the school’s curriculum in English/ Language Arts

and Math, as well as other core subjects.

• Parents also receive information about the assessments used to measure student progress in these academic areas.

Single Plan for Student Achievement

Title 1 funding for the 2014-2015 year will be

allocated to reducing class size in 6th Grade

English Language Arts, by purchasing a partial

teacher FTE. Reducing class size will allow the

teachers the ability to provide more targeted

instruction as related to the Common Core

Standards. This will also help to meet the

needs of our diverse group of learners. Slide 11

Title I Funds

Federal Funds:• Schools are allocated Title I funds on

the basis of the percentage of students eligible for free/reduced lunch.

• Schools in SDUSD receive Title I funds if forty percent (40%) or more of the student population is eligible for free or reduced lunch.

Federal Funds:• One percent (1%) of a school’s total

Title I budget is for parent involvement activities (Resource 30103).

• Schools in Program Improvement must set aside a minimum of ten percent (10%) for professional development.

• Funds must supplement, not supplant, district funds.

Our Title IParent Involvement

Policy

Provide copies of the school’s Title I Parent Involvement Policy and invite input from parents.

The Title 1 policy will be reviewed by the SSC. It will then be sent home via Power School, and posted on our website. It may also be sent home on paper.

the responsibilities of the school, the

parent, and the student for improved

student achievement.
