Development Activities & Summary of Sports Achievements

1. The construction of Hockey Astro Turf costing 4.10 Crores is in full swing

and work is likely to be completed by October/ November 2012. The Laying

of hockey Astro Turf will be the biggest infrastructure Development in last

several decades and AMU will become the Hockey center of the region.

2. Construction of Indoor Hall for Badminton and Table Tennis is in advanced

State and will be completed soon.

3. A compressive proposal of 58.91 Crores has been submitted to the

University grant commission as part of XII 5 years Plan Proposal for

Upgradation of Sports facilities.

4. Roller Skating Rink has been fully renovated and new Flood lights have

been installed.

5. Clay Courts for Tennis have been added to the 14 existing Grass Courts.

Six feet fencing has been installed on hard court and proposal for Synthetic

Court has been submitted to the UGC as part of XII 5 years Plan Proposal.

6. Proposal for New Open Olympic Size Swimming Pool has been submitted to

UGC and positive response is expected soon.

7. New equipment has been purchased for the Gymnasium Club.

8. The AMU Riding Team went to participate in THE GREAT GHAZIABAD

HORSE SHOW (G.H.S.), “PENTA GRAND 2012 (International/ Asian/

SAARC/ National/ UP State Equestrian Championship of Tent Pegging)

organized by Equestrian Federation Of India (E.F.I.) & DELHI HORSE SHOW

2012(National) organized by Army Polo & Riding Club (A.P.R.C.) under the

aegis of E.F.I. from 14th March 2012 to 10th April 2012. The team led by

Mr. Amir Ayaz Khan Captain, Mr. Mohd. Umair Khan Sherwani, Mr. Talha

Anees, Mr. Zainus Salikin Siddiqui, Mr. Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui, Mr. S. Anwar

Hussain Mashhadi, Ms. Nudra Qadri, Ms. Nida Quadri, Ms. Madhavi Singh

won 25 medals (6 Gold + 12 Silver + 7 Bronze) in The Great Ghaziabad

Horse Show and 04 medals (1 Gold + 3 Bronze) in Delhi Horse Show. This

is first time in history of Muslim University Riding Club (M.U.R.C.) when

team got 29 medals in UP State level & National Level Competitions in

different events.

9. AMU Riding Club Organized 123rd Annual Horse Show “EQUESTRIA 2K12”

on 04th March 2012, and a large no. of distinguished guests graced the

occasion. UP Mounted Police Riding Team, Mathura N.C.C. Riding Team &

Delhi Public School Riding Team also participated in open, senior, and

junior events. Our Riders won several prizes in various events beating the

UP Mounted Police, Mathura N.C.C & Delhi Public School.

10. Mr. Zainus Salikin Siddiqui member of AMU riding Club was selected by

Mathura N.C.C. (1 UP R&V SQN NCC) to participate in the REPUBLIC DAY

CAMP held from 30th December 2011 to 31st January 2012 at New Delhi .

11. AMU Badminton (Men & Women) Team participated in North Zone

Intervarsity (M&W) Badminton Tournament 2011-12 organized by Punjab

Technical University Jalandhar. Mr. Saurav Agarwal, Mr. Prabhat Yadav, Mr.

Rasheed Misbah Ansari, Mr. Faiez Khan, Mr. Chandan Kumar, Mr. Pradeep

Goswami, Ms Kanwaljeet Kaur, Ms. Kanchan Raghav, Ms. Shalini

represented AMU in North Zone Intervarsity (M & W) Badminton

Tournament 2011-12. AMU Badminton Men team qualified for All India

Intervarsity Badminton Tournament 2011-12 for a record fourth

consecutive time by beating the organizing and host university i.e. PTU

Jalandhar by 3-2.

12. Mr. Saurav Agarwal, Captain of AMU Badminton Club won several medal

in state and national Level badminton Tournaments. He was Singles Winner

in Senior State Badminton Tournament held at Bareilly in Sep. 2011.

Represented UP State Badminton team in East Zone Senior Badminton

Championship & won the title after beating West Bengal in final match held

at Madhubani Bihar in September 2011 and was also Runner’s up in Senior

State Badminton Tournament held at Lucknow in November 2011. Doubles

Winner in Senior State & Inter District Badminton Tournament held at

Gorakhpur in November & December 2011. Represented UP State Senior

Badminton team in Inter State & Senior National Badminton Championship

held at Banglore in January 2012.

13. Mr. Rasheed Misbah Ansari, Member of AMU Badminton Club also won

several medals in state and national level badminton tournament. He was

Doubles Winner in Senior State Badminton Tournament held at Bareilly in

Sep. 2011. Represented UP State Badminton team in East Zone Senior

Badminton Championship & won the title after beating West Bengal in final

14. Ms. Kanwaljeet Kaur, Member of AMU Badminton Women team won all

her matches in North Zone Intervarsity Tournament upto Quarter Final held

at PTU Jalandhar. Represented UP State Badminton team in East Zone

Senior Badminton Championship. Winner in Women Singles in Senior State

Badminton Tournament held at Lucknow in November 2011.

15. The Hockey Club organized a exhibition hockey match on 12.02.2012

between former Olympian’s of AMU Vs AMU Hockey team. In this match

Olympian’s Mr. B.P. Govinda, Mr. Aslam Sher Khan, Mr. Zafar Iqbal, Mr.

Jalaluddin & many other stalwarts of past participated making it a great

success. AMU hockey team won the match 2-1.

16. Mr. Anoop Kumar, Mr. Mohd Faizan, Mr. Atif Hasan, Mr. Ahmad Kamal

Baig, Mr. Mohd Adnan Khan, Mohd Yaqzan Mr. Mohd Harris Mr. Tahasin

Mondal members of AMU Skating club represented UP State Skating team

in 49th National Roller Skating Championship held at Kurkshetra organized

by Roller Skating Federation of India in January 2012.

17. Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Ex-Captain AMU Cricket team represented UP in the

Ranji Trophy for the 4th consecutive year.

18. Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmad was selected in Pune Warriors Team to Play in IPL 4

in April- May 2011.

19. Mr. Tahmeed Ahmad was selected in the U-22 Indian Railways Camp.

20. The AMU Volleyball team participated in Aghaz 2012, a Volleyball

Tournament organized by Integral University Lucknow from 04.03.12 to

06.03.2012. The team was winner after defeating Integral University

Volleyball team in final.

21. AMU Football team participated in Invitational State Level Football

tournament organized by All UP Junaid Altaf Memorial society from 4th to

10th August 2011 and won the final match defeating Chanda Club, Meerut

in Tie-Breaker.

22. Mr. Lokesh Raghav member of football club was selected U-19 UP state

team and participated in U-19 state level Football tournament held at

Meerut.

23. Mr. Danish Ahmad, member of Football club selected in Senior National

(Santosh Trophey) camp at District Banka (Bihar).

24. The District Junior Basketball team participated in Junior State

Basketball Tournament held at Agra from 14.05.2011 to 19.05.2011 in

which 4 Players (Under -19) of AMU has participated in this tournament

and get a fifth place in State.

25. Interhall Body Building and Mr. UP Body Building Competition was held

on 3rd June 2012 at Kennedy Auditorium. A large number of participants

from various districts of Uttar Pradesh participated in this state level

competition.

26. Mr. Wakeeluddin of Hiking & Mountaineering Club was sent for Advance

Mountaineering Course from 06.04.2012 to 05.05.2012 at HMI Darjeeling

(WB) and secured Gold Medal (1st Place) in Artificial Rock Climbing.

Riding Club 2011-2012

1. The AMU Riding Team went to participate in THE GREAT GHAZIABAD HORSE

SHOW (G.H.S.), “PENTA GRAND 2012 (International/ Asian/ SAARC/ National/

This is first time in history of Muslim University Riding Club (M.U.R.C.) that team won

29 medals in UP State level & National Level Competitions in different events.

2. Organized 123rd Annual Horse Show “EQUESTRIA 2K12” on 04th March 2012,

Vice- Chancellor, A.M.U., was the Chief Guest on this occasion, a large no. of

distinguished guests graced the occasion.

UP Mounted Police Riding Team, Mathura N.C.C. Riding Team & Delhi Public

School Riding Team also participated in open, senior, and junior events. Our

Riders won several prizes in various events beating the UP Mounted Police,

Mathura N.C.C & Delhi Public School.

3. Mr. Zainus Salikin Siddiqui & Mr. S. Anwar Hussain Mashhadi were selected by

Mathura N.C.C. (1 UP R&V SQN NCC) to participate in the Pre- Republic Day

Horse Riding Combined Annual Training Camp held from 19th November

2011 to 28th November 2011 at Lucknow.

4. Mr. Zainus Salikin Siddiqui was selected by Mathura N.C.C. (1 UP R&V SQN

NCC) to participate in the REPUBLIC DAY CAMP held from 30th December 2011

to 31st January 2012 at New Delhi .

5. The Club conducted Annual Riding Exam in which many riders (both boys & girls) passed the exam.

6. Organized Summer Coaching Camp for Young Riders.

Badminton Club 2011-2012

AMU Badminton (Men & Women) Team participated in North Zone Intervarsity (M &

W) Badminton Tournament 2011-12 organized by Punjab Technical University

Jalandhar. Mr. Saurav Agarwal, Mr. Prabhat Yadav, Mr. Rasheed Misbah Ansari, Mr.

Faiez Khan, Mr. Chandan Kumar, Mr. Pradeep Goswami, Ms Kanwaljeet Kaur, Ms.

Kanchan Raghav, Ms. Shalini represented AMU in North Zone Intervarsity (M & W)

Badminton Tournament 2011-12.

1. In the men’s section AMU Badminton team performed par excellence and qualified

for All India Intervarsity Badminton Tournament 2011-12 for a record fourth

consecutive time in the history of AMU by beating the host university i.e. PTU

Jalandhar by 3-2.

2. The AMU Women Badminton team defeated Dr. RML Avadh University Faizabad by

2-0 in the first round match. In the second round match AMU defeated Ch. Devilal

University Sirsa by 2-0. In the Pre-Quarter Final match AMU defeated Punjabi

University Patiala by 2-0. Quarter Final match was played between last year all

India Champion Delhi University & AMU Aligarh. Delhi University defeated AMU by

2-1 after a close match.

3. The AMU Badminton team displayed fighting spirit in the All India Intervarsity

Tournament 2011-12 and went down to the host and organizing university i.e. MS

University Udaipur Rajasthan in a tight match by 2-3.

4. Mr. Saurav Agarwal, Captain of AMU Badminton Club achieved as following:-

Singles Winner in Senior State Badminton Tournament held at Bareilly in Sep.

2011.

Represented UP State Badminton team in East Zone Senior Badminton

Championship & won the title after beating West Bengal in final match held at

Madhubani Bihar in September 2011.

Runner’s up in Senior State Badminton Tournament held at Lucknow in

November 2011.

Doubles Winner in Senior State & Inter District Badminton Tournament held at

Gorakhpur in November & December 2011.

Represented UP State Senior Badminton team in Inter State & Senior National

Badminton Championship held at Banglore in January 2012.

Hiking & Mountaineering Club 2011-2012

1. The Club organized (10 Kms for Men and 05 Kms for Boys/Girls) “National

Integration Marathon Race” on the occasion of Republic day Celebrations on

22.01.2012, in which more than 600 students participated. A large number of

Female students also participated in the marathon race.

2. Mr. Wakeeluddin proceeded for Advance Mountaineering Course from 06.04.2012

to 05.05.2012 at HMI Darjeeling (WB) and secured Gold Medal (1st Place) in

Artificial Rock Climbing.

3. The members of the Hiking and Mountaineering club have been trained for the

various courses related to trekking / climbing, river crossing, repelling, and

artificial rock climbing during the session 2011-12. The II Batch of the students

sent to Dehradun/Sahasthdhara (Uttrakhand) w.e.f. 22.10.2011 to 28.10.2011

and 02.03.2012 to 08.03.2012. Total numbers of students were 41 at various

courses.

4. Twenty seven students were sent for Adventure Mountaineering Course from

22.03.2012 to 25.03.2012 at Dehradun / Sahastradhara (Uttrakhand).

Skating Club 2011-2012

1 Mr. Anoop Kumar, Mr. Mohd Faizan, Mr. Atif Hasan, Mr. Ahmad Kamal Baig,

Mr. Mohd Adnan Khan, Mr. Mohd Yaqzan Mr. Mohd Harris Mr. Tahasin

Mondal members of AMU Skating club represented UP State Skating team

in 49th National Roller Skating Championship held at Kurkshetra organized

by Roller Skating Federation of India in January 2012.

2 Inter Hall Roller Hockey tournament was held from 23rd to 26th February

2012. Roller Hockey teams of various hall participated in Inter Hall Roller

Hockey Tournament. NRSC Hall was Winner, and SS (N) Hall team

Runner’s Up & SS (S) was third in the Championship. Students of various

halls and Schools also participated in various skating events i.e. Rink Race-

1, Rink Race-2 and Road Race.

3 Organized summer and Winter Coaching Camps for University students and

school boys.

Cricket Club 2011-2012

1. The AMU Cricket Club won the U-19 Sir Syed Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament

in April 2011. In the final AMU beat Hamzah Cricket Academy.

2. The AMU Cricket Club won the Open District Sir Syed Memorial T-20 Cricket

Tournament beating Jadon Riders in the Final.

3. The Cricket Club, AMU organized the Summer Coaching Camp for school boys of

Aligarh District in which more than 300 aspirants participated in the trials, out of

which 60 were selected for camp.

4. Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Ex-Captain AMU represented UP in the Ranji Trophy for the

4th consecutive year.

5. Mr. Tahmeed Ahmad was selected in the U-22 Indian Railways Camp.

6. Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmad was selected in Pune Warriors Team to Play in IPL 4 in April-

May 2011.

7. The AMU Cricket Team participated in the North Zone Intervarsity 2011-12

organized by UTU Dehradun from 13 to 19 November 2011 and lost in the Pre-

Quarter finals.

8. The AMU Women’s Cricket Team participated in the North Zone Intervarsity 2011-

12 from 26.11.2011 to 03.12.2011 and lost in the IInd round.

9. The members of the Cricket Club won the All India Tournament in Etawah beating

Kanpur in the final.

10.The Cricket Club organized the Inter School Cricket Tournament on the occasion

of “Republic Day Celebration” in January 2012.

11.The Cricket Club organized the Inter Hall Cricket Tournament 2011-12 from 2nd

to 10th March 2012. NRSC defeated Aftab Hall in the finals.

12.The Cricket Club organized T-20 Inter Faculty (Teachers) Tournament. In the final

F/O Medicine beat F/O Engineering.

13.The Cricket Club organized the Northern India Cricket Tournament (Late Mustaq

Ali Memorial), AMU lost to Meerut in the final

Volleyball Club 2011-2012

1. The University Volleyball team participated in North Zone Intervarsity Volleyball

(Men) Tournament 2011-2012 organized by M.JP. Rohailkhand University Bareilly

from 12.01.2012 to 16.01.2012.

2. The University Volleyball (women) team participated in North Zone Intervarsity

Volleyball (Women) Tournament 2011-12, organized by Dr. Y. S. Parmar

University of Horticulture & Forestry Solan (HP) from 06.11.2011 to 11.11.2011.

3. The AMU Volleyball team was sent to Lucknow to participate in Aghaz 2012 a

Volleyball Tournament organized by Integral University Lucknow from 04.03.12 to

06.03.2012. The team was winner after defeating Integral University Volleyball

team in final.

4. Inter Hall Volleyball Tournament for the session 2011-12 was held from 21st to

23rd February 2012. M.M. Hall was Winner and SS (North) Hall Runner’s up in

final match.

5. Organized Summer Coaching Camp for University students and school boys.

Hockey Club 2011-2012

1. AMU Hockey team participated in North Zone Inter University Hockey

tournament held at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi & lost the Match in

Sudden death.

2. The Club organized a exhibition hockey match on 12.02.2012 between

former Olympian’s of AMU Vs AMU Hockey team. In this match Olympian’s

Mr. B.P. Govinda, Mr. Aslam Sher Khan, Mr. Zafar Iqbal, Mr. Jalaluddin &

many other stalwarts of past participated making it a great success. AMU

hockey team won the match 2-1.

3. The Club organized Inter Hall hockey tournament in the month of February

2012, M.M. Hall was winner & SS Hall (South) Runner’s up.

4. The Club organized Summer Coaching for School boys of Aligarh District in

the month of May to June 2011. Nearly 50 boys participated in the Camp.

5. The work of the Astro-Turf is in progress and is likely to be completed

soon.

1. AMU Swimming team participated in All India Intervarsity Swimming

Championship organized by University of Calcutta from 14th to 23rd

October 2011.

2. AMU Junior Swimming team participated in UP Junior Swimming

Championship from 04.07.2011 to 08.07.2011

3. AMU Swimming team participated in 54th Senior State Aquatic

Championship 2011 at Lucknow from 23rd to 26th September 2011.

4. The Club also organized Summer Coaching camp for schoolboys from June

to July 2011. 150 boys participated in the camp.

5. 1600 Members of various age groups were members of Swimming club in

2011.

6. Inter Hall and Aligarh District Age Group Swimming meet for Boys & Girls

was held on 10th & 11th September 2011. Teams from various halls &

Schools participated in various events.

Tennis Club 2011-2012

1 AMU Tennis team qualified for All India Intervarsity Tennis tournament on

the basis of results of 2010-2011.

2 The club organized Inter Hall Tennis Tournament from 13th to 15th

February 2012. Teams from various halls participated in the competitions.

Hadi Hasan Hall won the championship after defeating NRSC team.

3 The Summer Coaching camp for students of Schools and Colleges of

Aligarh District was organized by AMU Tennis Club, from 16.05.2011 to

04.06.2011. 35 students including females’ students took part in this

coaching camp. The Certificates distribution function was held on

04.06.2011.

4 The Winter Coaching camp for students was organized by AMU Tennis Club,

from 16.01.2012 to 31.01.2012. 42 participants including females’

students took part in this coaching camp. The Certificates distribution

function was held on 31.01.2012.

1. The AMU Athletic team participated in the All India Inter University

Athletic Meet from 13.02.2011 to 24.12.2011 organized by RAJEEV

GANDHI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH & SCIENCES, BANGALORE. 31 boys

and 6 girls students participated in All India Athletics meet 2012

2. Mr. Pankaj Kumar participated in 100 Meters event and qualified for

second round. Mr. Guhar Khan participated in 100 meters and qualified

for the second round.

3. Organized Summer Coaching Camp for University students and School

boys.

Football Club 2011-2012

1 Football team participated in North Zone Intervarsity Football tournament

held at Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar from 28.09.2012 to

06.10.2012. In third round our team lost the match playing RML Faizabad.

2 Inter Hall Football Tournament was held from 10th to 18th February 2012 in

which 18 Halls and School teams participated and NRSC and MM Hall

reached the final. NRSC won by 2-0 in the final match.

4 Invitational Inter School Football Tournament was organized by the

Football Club on the occasion of Independence Day from 18th to 24th

October 2011. 12 School Football teams participated and SSSC (10+2)

Boys & Al-Barkaat Public School played final match of the Tournament in

which SSSC AMU won by 2-1.

5 AMU team participated in Invitational State Level Football tournament

organized by All UP Junaid Altaf Memorial Football society from 4th to 10th

August 2011 and won the final match defeating Chanda Club, Meerut in

Tie-Breaker.

6 Mr. Lokesh Raghav member of this club was selected for U-19 UP state

team and participated in U-19 state level Football tournament held at

Meerut.

7 Mr. Danish Ahmad, member of this club was selected in Senior National

(Santosh Trophey) camp at District Banka (Bihar).

8 The regular practice of Football Club is going on throughout the year and

large numbers of students play soccer everyday.

9 Organized Summer Coaching Camp in which 120 students and school boys

participated.

2011-2012

1 The AMU Wrestling team participated in the All India Inter University

Wrestling (Men) Championship organized by Chaudhary Devi Lal University,

Sirsa from 21.11.2011 to 26.11.2011. The Wrestling team participated in

different weight categories.

2 Mr. Subodh Yadav member of this club secured Gold Medal in UP state

wrestling championship in 2011.

3 Mr. Krishanveer Singh got silver medal in 60 kg weight category in UP

state wrestling championship in 2011.

4 The club organized Open University Wrestling Competition on 22.10.2011

on the occasion of Sir Syed celebrations.

Table Tennis Club 2011-2012

1 AMU Table Tennis team participated in North Zone Intervarsity Table Tennis

Tournament 2011-12 organized by Kaumun University Nanital (UK) in the month

of December.

2 Ayush Shurridh, Mohd Wasiq Qureshi, Faisal Ali, Mohd Adil Wiqar & Ayush Iqbal

Khan represented AMU in above tournament.

3 In the first match AMU defeated PTU Jalandhar by 3-1. In the second AMU

defeated PAU Ludhiyana by 3-1, in the third round match AMU defeated MDU

Rohtak by 3-2, In Quarter Final AMU lost the match against Punjabi University

Patiala by 3-1, Faisal Ali and Ayush Shuridh performed well.

4 The Inter Hall Table Tennis Tournament was held from 25th to 27th February

2012. Allama Iqbal Hall & Nadeem Tarin Hall were Winner & Runner’s Up

respectively. Mr. Faisal Ali of Allama Iqbal Hall won the Open Championship and

Faraz Ahmad of NRSC was Runner’s up.

Basketball Club 2011-2012

1. The Basketball Club organized Summer Coaching Camp for schools of Aligarh

District from 21st May to 5th June 2011 in which 50 students participated. The

closing ceremony of training camp was held on 30th June 2011.

2. The District Junior Basketball team participated in Junior State Basketball

Tournament held at Agra from 14.05.2011 to 19.05.2011 in which 4 Players

(Under -19) of AMU participated in this tournament and secured fifth place in

State.

3. The University Basketball team participated in North Zone Inter University

Basketball Tournament held at Rohailkhand University Bareilly from 22nd to 26th

November 2011.

4. Basketball team also participated in 51st UP State Basketball Championship 2011

held at Shakti Nagar District Sonbhadra from 17.11.2011 to 23.11.2011.

5. AMU Women’s Basketball team participated in North Zone Inter University

Basketball Tournament held at Kurukshetra from 08th to 11th November 2011.

6. Inter Hall Tournament was held from 21st to 26th January 2012, in which NRSC

Hall was winner and Sir Ziauddin Hall was Runner.

7. AMU Basketball team participated in K.C. Garg Memorial State Basketball

Tournament held at Varshney College Aligarh from 18th to 21st February 2011 and

Defeated Gorakhpur in Final.

Physical Culture Club 2011-2012

1 The AMU Wight Lifting, Power Lifting & Body Building team participated in

the All India Inter University Wight Lifting, Power Lifting & Body Building

championship organized by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar from

27.01.2012 to 02.02.2012 and our students team participated in different

weight categories.

2 The Gymnasium Club organized Inter hall Weight Lifting & Power Lifting

Competition on 2nd June 2012 at Gymnasium Club.

3 Interhall Body Building and Mr. UP Body Building Competition was held on

3rd June 2012 at Kennedy Auditorium. A large number of participants from

various districts of Uttar Pradesh participated in this state level

competition.
