SCIENCE EXPO-2017India is a fast developing country and it needs to be
strong both technically and economically to compete with
the developed countries and achieve self-sufficiency. Our
country has achieved many milestones in the field of
science and technology. ISRO is creating wonders and
attracting the whole world by periodic and successful
launching of bulk of satellites. But still there is a need for
indigenous products. The government is also supporting
startups through schemes such as make in India and
encouraging young people to choose scientific research as
a career.
In this context the OSA student chapter, & SPIE
student chapter NIT Warangal felt the need of encouraging
student community towards science and technology by
involving them in making innovative science projects.
This event is aimed at the students of 8th to 10th standard.
Students can make their own science projects with the
help of faculty and exhibit in the Science-Expo. This
event also helps students to interact with professors and
get to know about the current and future trends in the field
of science and technology.

Optics Outreach: To disseminate the fundamental knowledge
of various optical phenomena of day to day life, we are
planning to organize a Youth outreach program in the month
of August 2017.The main focus of the program is to promote
the optical knowledge to secondary school children. X
standard students from various schools will be gathered to a
convenient place and concepts of light will be explained with
help of demonstrations, exhibits and lectures.
Industrial Tour: For the assimilation of the optical knowledge,
to acclimatize the industrial work culture, and to further the
professional development of the students, an industrial tour to
a well reputed photonic industry is planned. SPIE chapter
members can get an in depth awareness of the industrial
production of photonic instruments by this event.
Industrial awareness program: We want to arrange an
interaction program between photonic industry people and
science and technological students by this event. Industrialists
will give an awareness of the present industrial technical needs,
and skills to be adopted by the students. We are planning
to gather technical students of all disciplines from various
academic Institutions and Industrial people to a common platform
to discuss and exchange their ideas and views.
