Annual Report2016-2017
32
General Jean-Pierre Meyer
Dear Friends,
I remember, three years ago, when Kevin Dumoux, Jean-Michel Icard, Krys Pagani and I created Cercle K2, we were three people with just our energy and willingness to share a common project. We had a long path in front of us. But we shared the strong feeling that our initiative was good. This belief, without which no energy is sustainable, helped us to remain perseverant, I would even say tenacious because the path was not free of obstacles.
Since the beginning of our commitment, three requirements have always guided our actions: volunteering, multidisciplinarity and freedom.
Volunteering and its corollary, gratuity, are Cercle K2’s core values. We function in project mode. The rule is simple: a project, a funding. No cost of structure. If on a day-to-day basis, it represents a real challenge, it is also satisfactory to see projects take shape owing to our energy, sense of solidarity and generosity.
K2’s Second requirement: multidisciplinarity. Our world requires a multidisciplinary approach at both the strategic and operational levels. This approach is essential, especially in France where, unfortunately, partitioning is often the rule. This confinement has heavy consequences for everyone and sometimes creates destructive oppositions, detrimental to the knowing how to live together, to proper governance and to performance. Multidisciplinarity, on the contrary, nourishes our openness and tolerance to what is different. It gives us a lot more freedom.
Ah, freedom! This is our third requirement. Cercle K2 is an association which members are located all over our national territory. But it is also international. Over 30 nationalities are represented. Cercle K2 is non partisan and is not intended to support a specific doctrine or person. It is a place to discuss where the speech must be free and plural. I make sure of that!
However, this freedom also implies a liability, the one to be proactive, to propose and to act with no constraint. It is not always easy. But this is also where stands, according to me, K2’s force. We are the K2, all together.
With all my best,

Cercle K2 continues its strategy based on digital transformation.
From a human point of viewYear 2016 has seen the implementation of working processes, the strengthening of the governance and the pursuit of a specific “culture” based on freedom, volunteering and benevolence. The Trophées K2’s ceremony, on January 19th, 2017, enabled to notice the “spirit of comradeship” that Cercle K2 strives to develop between its Members since its creation.
dedicated to strengthening and developing them. The assignment managers, whose number is growing, participate, owing to their energy and presence on the field, to the development of these actions. They reinforce “the operational experience” that Cercle K2 is willing to promote. The mechanics of the “efficient action” is one of those that cannot be elaborated in the remoteness of some places, with the only assistance of some experts who have too often lost any contact with the reality of “action”. It is always the “action” that has the last word...
2. Development of a new digital approachThe website is not only a “hub” dedicated to be a media or to publish content. It must participate more to Cercle K2’s dynamics. Concretely, it will result in the creation of a new digital platform, under construction for several months. It will be launched during the second quarter of 2017 and will meet with the present guidelines (new visual and user experience). It will also enable to anticipate the new dynamics (interactions and big data) in a context of rapid changes of digital tools.
From a technical point of viewThe digital world allows a targeted diffusion of Cercle K2’s actions at lower cost and more transparency. Its website is ranked is ranked in the top 6000 of French websites (vs. top 9000 in 2015. Source: Alexa, December 2015 and 2016). The audience is heterogeneous in geographical terms. France (45 % Ile-de-France and 55 % for the rest of the territory) is in first position in regards to the views before the US, Europe (excluding France) and Asia. The number of viewed pages per visitor is on average 4.8 (vs. 2.8 in 2015) for an average duration of visit of 5 min 17 (vs. 2 min 10 in

055.1. Presentation
Since its creation, Cercle K2 has developed different platforms to network and open discussions between the academic and the operational spheres.
Trophées K2 contribute to such objective. Its objective is to value and support researchers who, owing to their imagination and creativity, but also to they working force, have made a discovery in their field of research or found an application likely to address the challenges that our societies are faced with.
More broadly, and sticking to the Cercle K2’s philosophy, is its goal to encourage the opening up of disciplines and fruitful discussions between all those contributing to the harmonious development of the City.

“For everyone to find his/her own path”
In addition to the other Cercle K2’s activities, Chemin K2 has created a friendly place of exchange, multidisciplinary and intergenerational, which motivates all its participants and offers a real support to those concerned with their professional career.
Chemin K2 gathers actors coming from different backgrounds and offers them the possibility to discover different professions, organizations and, more widely, universes often misunderstood or unknown by students.

7.1. Organization of the exchanges 7.2. Profils
Objectives : To develop clear, open and benevolent discussions enabling mutual improvement; to help building adapted professional paths and anticipating professional evolutions.
Informal meetings or lunches : The students willing to discover or deepen their knowledge of the professional world and their understanding of its challenges have the opportunity to speak with professionals during lunches or meetings.
Discussions on orientation : These meetings are also a chance for students to speak with professionals about academic and professional orientations and choices in a relaxing environment.
Advice on professional prerequisites :
Students’ Profile
Chemin K2 is dedicated to students from any educational background, between 18 and 25 years of age, studying in a school or university.
Curious, volunteering, the students are willing to exchange with actors from the professional world. They share the willing to engage in thinking not only upon their career but more widely upon their future professional environment and its stake.
Founding Members’ Profile
Founding Members can decide to become tutors for more than one student in order to support them in their career paths and considerations.Involved, listening and with no prejudice, their mission is to exchange and answer student’s questions but also help encourage them to challenge their decisions, in order to help them find their professional paths (precise or not), to finalize the construction of their project, and to get familiar with any professional prerequisite.
Willing to participate to a mutual exchange, tutors will share their experience, training and knowledge, in order to contribute to the construction of the young professionals’ career and enrich them.
• Skills assessment,• Writing a CV and a letter of motivation,• Employer’s expectations for a training course,• What to be expected to do during a training course,• Valorization of the students’ competences,• Assistance in the preparation for job interview.
Recently confused when faced with the decision of what profession to choose and to the difficulties linked to entering the professional world, I naturally accepted to be part of the Chemin K2.
Its aim is to give the opportunities to students to discuss with people having very different educational and professional backgrounds and learning from their experience.I remain vigilant that the values I believe in (benevolence, discussion, attentiveness and sharing) are shared by every participant in the Chemin K2.
To find one’s path, one must know where to go! It is a true evidence but it is not as simple as it seems… especially when it means to commit oneself to a professional career without having been able to compare one’s professional aspirations to reality.
The initiative known as the Chemin K2 has the great ambition to link students and Cercle K2’s Founding Members. Their talents, their vast professional experience and their human qualities are indeed outstanding assets to create such an authentic link. I am convinced because how can it be otherwise when faced with the relevance of such expectations ?
