for Moldova.

Slogan: „ Support the people who will support Moldova”

Foundation’s Mission. The Foundation has the mission to contribute to the development of the

society by developing projects in the following areas: cultural, educational and social.

II. AREAS OF ACTIVITY

Social Area - Over the years, Edelweiss Foundation supported the socially vulnerable layers of the

Republic of Moldova, particularly families in distress, elderly and institutionalized children.

2.1. Anniversary in Edelweiss Family

Marius, Anastasia and

Alexandrina Surugiu, the

triplets baptized by the

founder of Edelweiss

Foundation Vlad

Plahotniuc four years ago,

celebrated their 4th

anniversary and received

memorable gifts and

positive emotions.

Four years ago, Tatiana Surugiu, being hospitalized at the Mother and Child Institute, was

experiencing the most important moment of her life: gave birth to five children, but only three

survived. She desperately needed help and financial support to be able to take care and raise these

kids. Tatiana recalls: “I was desperate”… That was the crucial moment when Vlad Plahotniuc met

the Surugiu family and supported them and never abandoned them from that day on.

In the meantime, he became the god father of Marius, Anastasia and Alexandrina and was donated

PAGE 4

his salary as a parliamentarian. Moreover, Edelweiss Foundation covered the medical expenses for

all Surugiu children and repaired their house in Glodeni.

2.2. Flowers and ,,martsishors” for mother at the Institute of Mother and Child

With the occasion of International Women’s Day celebrated on March 8, the patients of Mother

and Child Institute were happy to receive warm wishes from behalf of Edelweiss Foundation. “ It

was an extremly pleasant surprise! I wasn’t expecting anyone else beside my husband and family

to congratulte me with spring holidays”, said Valeria, a future mother.

On their bahalf,

Edelweiss Foundation

representatives

mentioned that it was

obvious to choose

Mother and Child

Institute as a fisrt

destination for giving

out symbolic presents.

2.3. Emotional show offered by young women from the ATLANT Community Centre

A lesson about life, about fears and how can they can be overcome. This lesson was offered by

young women participating in the contest organized by the ATLANT Community Center to mark

"Fairy of Flowers" event held a while ago.

The contest held in the month dedicated to women was not an ordinary one. The participants of

the contest and stars of the show were five young women attending the ATLANT Community

PAGE 5

Center, all with different disabilities as well as numerous talents. They sang, danced, recited, and

offered a show of courage and confidence.

"The competition which we have organized means a lot for these young people, because it allows

them to overcome some complexes. Thanks to the Edeleweiss Foundation that encouraged us and

was by our side, we could offer these young people a chance to surpass themselves and overcome

their limits”, said Victoria Garabajiu, head of the ATLANT Community Centre.

It is noteworthy that the

Edelweiss Foundation

supports talented youth,

no matter where they

come from, and has

repeatedly collaborated

with ATLANT

Community Centre.

2.4. Those 11 members of Bubulici family are celebrating Easter holidays under a new roof above their heads

The Bubulici family from Chetrosu village has a new roof, as a result of the repairs works

undertaken by Edelweiss Foundation and Vlad Plahotniuc.

“Until now, when it rained, children knew that they had to run into the house , place buckets and

wipe the water that was pouring all over… Now, with the new roof, it was a total bliss to stand

outside and see the raindrops hit our new roof, “relates Lidia Babulici, the mother of those nine

children, a family which has a new roof on the house in Chetrosu village, Drochia rayon.

PAGE 6

The story of Babulici family was revealed in a letter received by

Edelweiss Foundation from neighbors from Drochia rayon.

They revealed that despite the fact that the family has been

fixing the roof constantly, they could not afford to do it the

right way. Parents take care of six orphan children, the

youngest one being only 5 and the eldest 16. The Easter holidays

under the new roof will be also celebrated by Babulici grown

up children as well.

2.5. Edelweiss foundation helps a family with many children

A letter has changed the

life of a family with

many children in the

village of Macaresti,

Ungheni. This refers to

the Tomas who have six

children and are

expecting their seventh

child. They received

household appliances

and presents from the

Edelweiss Foundation

on the International Family Day.

The Edelweiss Foundation learned about this beautiful family with many children concerned

about their children’s future from a young neighbour. The neighbour sent a letter to the Charity

Foundation operating under the auspices of Vlad Plahotnyuk. The neighbour told in his letter

about hard life of the Tomas who live on the same street.

PAGE 7

“I asked them to improve a bit the family’s living conditions. Both husband and wife are people of

great heart, they have got beautiful children,” the Tomas neighbour, Mr. Ion Caleaga, told. The

assistance requested from the Edelweiss Foundation came on the same day on the occasion of the

International Family Day. The Tomas received household appliances necessary for a decent life,

especially for a family with many children.

“We could not save money in order to purchase a washing machine and a gas stove. Money could

be saved, but for us such a saving would mean eating nothing for three or four months,” the father,

Vasile Toma, reasoned.

The family of eight live simply in a small house on approximately MDL 4,000, of which MDL 2,400

are child allowances and the rest is the husband’s wage who works as a security guard in the village

school.

2.6. Laurențiu, 9 year old, received a device that will help him walk

Laurentiu Pintea, a nine

year old boy from Zaicani

village, Riscani region,

lives a happy life, despite

the terrible diagnosis he

was given when we has

four months old: infantile

cerebral paralysis.

The Edelweiss Foundation

offered him a chance for

new life, by giving

Laurentiu a SWASH medical

device, which his parents could not afford to buy. Thus, Laurentiu’s dream to go to school by

himself, run and play with his school mates will soon come true. From now on, Laurentiu has to

exercise, to accommodate to his new device that will help him live a normal life.

PAGE 8

“We hope that he will be able to walk by himself, we are very excited and emotions are positive”,

said the mother of the boy, Elvira Pintea.

Laurentiu is confident that the device will change his life and promised the representatives of

Edelweiss Foundation that at their next visit he will show them he can walk by himself and the

wheelchair will remain just a memory.

Besides the medical device, the representatives of Edelweiss Foundation gave Laurentiu a very

special present he dreamed about for a long time: a laptop. Because of his disease, the nine year

old boy has writing problems, and the laptop will give him a chance to easier cope with his

homework. As a matter of fact, the teachers who come to Laurentiu to help him with school say

he has a very good memory, he is hard working and he could easy go through two ears of school

in just one year.

2.7. After a terrible accident, a 3 year old girl got a chance for a normal life

At only 3 years old, Lavinia Minciuc is a

beautiful child, but very hard tried. A year and

a half ago, the girls suffered serious burns on

nearly half of her body. After this tragic

accident, Lavinia had several skin transplants

and an important surgery, which helped her

recover her stature.

The corrective surgery and the chance to grow

normally were offered by the Edelweiss

Foundation, which several months ago,

covered all the costs related to the treatment

procedures. Today we can easily observe the

effects: the girl is able to put out her arm, she

can stand and step with her both legs, things

she was not able to do before the surgery.

“Now she can pick up the ball from the ground and throw it away, before she was doing everything

PAGE 9

only with one hand. She was not able to step correctly, her leg was bending and she could not

reach out with her hand”, said the girl’s mother, Victoria Minciuc.

Happy about the progress of Lavinia’s well-being, the parents thanked the Edelweiss Foundation

for the financial support, emphasizing that the family’s revenue did not allow them to cover the

cost of the surgery, which was so extremely necessary for the recovery of their daughter. The only

source of income in the family is the salary of the father.

2.8. A memorable 1 st of June for the children from the Boakding School №2 from Chisinau

The children from the

Boarding School №2 from

Chisinau will not forget

the day of 1st June of 2015,

when they enjoyed an

unbelievable surprise for

the International

Children’s Day.

190 orphan children and

coming from socially

vulnerable families were

visited for the first time by the

representatives of the Edelweiss Foundation. Who came with a lot of present and a wonderful

surprise – a magic show performed by Marcellino. Many of the children from the Boarding School

№2 from Chisinau saw such type of show for the first time and were simply “charmed” by the

magician Marcellino.

“I liked it very much; I have never seen such a magic show before! This is for the first time!”, said

excited on of the children. I girl liked the most the moment when the magician took out color

paper from the hat. “I was very happy and I applauded”, said the happy girl.

The principal of the school said that the children were very keen to see the show. “Every visit with

charity purpose is a joyful moment for every child. The presents make them very happy”, said Iurie

Dontu, the Principal of the Boarding School №2 from Chisinau.

PAGE 10

Happy about the presents and the magic show, the children thanked all together the Edelweiss

Foundation for the surprise made for them on the International Children’s Day.

2.9. There is hope: one of the twins beaten by her mother will be treated abroad

There is hope for the twins Natalia and Maria Milis! The twin girls’ story which touched thousands

of Moldovans Last years, when the girls were only 8 months old, they were hardly beaten up by

their mother. From that day on, the girls are in the care of their grandmother. Natalia is feeling

better each day, but Maria will undergo a treatment to be able to recover from the vegetative stage.

Edelweiss Foundation

made a donation of 7

thousand euro for

neurologic treatment.

Maria is one year and 11

months old and is

immobilized, being able

only to eat, see and hear.

The treatment will start

in November in a clinic

abroad. The treatment,

which is unavailable in Moldova, consists of electromagnetic stimulation of the brain at infants.

Neurologists are optimistic about Maria’s chances to stand on her feet after such a treatment.

Her sister Natalia was lucky enough to recover fast after a period in coma, after their mother

physically abused her 8 months old daughters. Natalia is able to perform well for her age. “We

played with Natalia; she thanked for the presents and kissed us. She does not understand the

gravity of her sister’s condition; she is just a beautiful kid. We were deeply impressed with the girls

and their grandmother. Maria is a very sensitive child, she could hear us talking and was very quiet

PAGE 11

all the time and charmed us with her smile. We are happy we are able to help her”, said Edelweiss

Foundation representatives after their visit to Milis family.

The girls’ grandmother was speechless when she heard that Edelweiss Foundation will render a

helping hand and will cover the costs of the treatment abroad, a treatment vital for Maria. The

grandmother took care of the twins after the girls were in coma and their mother was deprived of

her parental rights.

2.10. Help for blind parents

Edelweiss Foundation offered a helping hand to 20 children and their parents, members of

Association of blind people of Moldova. School children received school supplies so that are well

equipped to start the new school year. The younger ones received toys and development games.

“Thank you very much for taking good care of us”, was a simple but hearty message delivered by

Angela Cranium from Criuleni, mother of four children. Angela is the mother of a baby, an infant

going to kindergarten and 2 school children. Angela’s husband being blind, they are all members

of the Association of Blind people of Moldova.

“The beginning of a new school year is a reason to be worried about for many people. The members

of the Association had hard times saving money to be able to buy all the necessary school supplies.

We felt our help will be much appreciated and needed, especially now, at the beginning of the

school year, when the expenses are very high. We are deeply touched by the thank you messages

we receive, and happy to see the sparkle in the children’s eyes and gratitude of their parents”, said

Edelweiss Representatives.

2.11. Edelweiss team made a dream of a child in a wheelchair come true

Victor Donea, an 11 year old boy in a wheelchair from Bughiceni village, Hincesti region, saw his

dream come true. The Edelweiss team made the greatest dream come true, and mainly to have a

laptop to be able to embrace IT field.

PAGE 12

Despite the fact that he

is pinned to the

wheelchair since the age

of 1, Victor goes to

school and is in the fifth

grade at the moment.

His most ardent desire is

to study informational

technologies. With

much hope he wrote a

letter to Edelweiss

Foundation, asking for a laptop to be able to achieve his goal. Victor, being one of the five children

of the family, needed help in making this dream become reality.

The Edelweiss Foundation team was deeply touched with Victor’s story and determination , thus

in a couple of days before the beginning of the school year , they paid a visit to him bringing the

much desired present along with many other school supplies.

This is his dream: to be able to use computer. Nadejda Donea, Victor’s mother mentioned to

Edelweiss team: “I still cannot believe you brought this present to my boy, his dream came true.”

PAGE 13

2.12. Edelweiss team offered Petru a chance for a better life

Petru from Radoaia village, Singerei region, will remember for a long time the day of October 15th

2015, when he was

offered a chance for a

better life, grace to

Edelweiss team.

Petru is diagnosed

with cerebral paralysis,

a terrible disease that

locked him to a bed.

The greatest desire

that Petru had was to

own a wheelchair,

which will help him

move outside the

house. Without the

wheelchair, the 16 year old boy was forced to spend the most of his days in the house, contacting

only with his family and teachers who visit Petru for his home schooling. Petru’s family wrote to

Edelweiss team, requesting a wheelchair, which is so necessary for the boy. Petru’s situation as

well as his will to have a chance for a better life impressed the Edelweiss representatives, who on

October 15th came to visit Caraciun family, with plenty of presents for Petru and the other two

children of the family. Besides the wheelchair that Petru dreamed about so much, the Edelweiss

team brought books, toys and a tablet, to the joy of the whole family. “Words cannot express what

this present means to me”, said Petru, full of gratitude when he saw the wheelchair, which will

change his life. The visit was a pleasant surprise for Ecaterina Caraciun, Petru’s mother, who

thanked the Edelweiss representatives for responding to her request and helping her son have a

chance for a better life.

PAGE 14

2.13. Edelweiss foundation has new friends: Dereli family’s triplets from Puhoi Village

Alexandru, Damian and Nichita Dereli recently celebrated two months. They are perfectly healthy

and grow by the day, bringing joy and hope into the small home from Puhoi village, where their

parents live in.

This way, the charity foundation responded by a touching letter, written by the children’s mother,

Victoria, where she described the financial difficulties faced by the young family from the country,

in their effort to beautifully raise the triplets they have been blessed with.

“We were happy to

discover that Dereli is a

young and beautiful

family. Victoria, the

mother of triplets, is 28

years old and is staying

at home to take care of

her babies. Her husband

is working from the days,

and tries to spend the

weekends with the dear

ones. We were

impressed because they are young, modest and full of hope. We hope a beautiful life is expecting

them in the future!”, said Lara Moraru, Executive Director at Edelweiss Foundation.

2.14. A large family has received the necessary appliances

With the occasion of the most recent donation, the Edelweiss Foundation representatives made

public information on its activity for the last 5 years. “Some of the letters we receive are signed by

children. They write to us and share their wishes, and in most cases they do not ask for toys for

themselves, but rather for help for their parents, siblings and grandparents. We try to respond to

such requests, to reword through our donations the innocent and pure souls of the authors… We

PAGE 15

try to help as many children we can, for them to grow happily in their families. We try to help the

best way possible”, said the Edelweiss team.

Recently they visited Tiganesti village in Straseni region. This is the address the letter signed by

Ina Bidniuc, a 12 year old girl, was sent to the Foundation. She wrote to Edelweiss about her family,

she loves very much, about her younger brothers and her mother, who has her hands full of worries

and work.

“From Ina’s letter we

understood she wrote it

with her own words, she

shared her thoughts, telling

us about the way things are

happening in her home. She

told us in the letter that her

mother Liliana is

sometimes borrowing the

washing machine from her

sister, every time a big pile

of clothes and linen to wash is

gathered. Furthermore, they do not have any other home appliances, with the exception of a

fridge”, said Lara Moraru, Edelweiss executive director.

Thus, the Edelweiss representatives paid a visit to Bidniuc family in Tiganesti village with a surprise

donation. They offered the family a washing machine, which Ina asked for to help her mother with

day to day work. Moreover, Edelweiss donated a gas cooker, a vacuum cleaner, a microwave and

an electric pot. Ina received a brand new laptop from Edelweiss, and her younger brother Sergiu

who is 10 – a mobile phone he wanted so much, as well as a lot of toys.

2.15. Help for children from Casa Gavroche, with Edelweiss participation

“Children’s wishes may be fulfilled if adults come with good intentions and work together”, often

say people who are involved in charity or volunteering activities. With this idea in mind, the

representatives of the Center for Social Rehabilitation of Children Casa Gavroche wrote to

PAGE 16

Edelweiss Foundation, asking for help in implementing a very important project, which became

more and more imperative.

The 20 children living in the Center for Social Rehabilitation Casa Gavroche need blankets for the

winter months.

Manly for this common

purpose, Edelweiss

Foundation and the staff of

Casa Gavroche worked

together lately.

Thus, from the donation of

7000 MDL offered by

Edelweiss, the necessary

fabric was purchased. As the

personnel of the Centre

already had a sewing

machine, they were able to

manufacture all the

necessary blankets for

children’s dormitories.

“The old blankets were obsolete and could not be used this winter!”, said the members of Casa

Gavroche, who take care of 20 children with ages between 7 and 16 years old.

Certainly, those who are the happiest about this “successful collaboration” are the children of Casa

Gavroche. They covered themselves with the new blankets, which they believe are the most

beautiful!

A. SOCIAL PROJECT: HOUSE FULL OF CHRISTMAS

In December 2015 Edelweiss Foundation susprins a new social campaign dedicated to vulnerable families across the country . During December, Edelweiss team visited several poor families , to bring them gifts during the holiday season .

2.16. Campaign of Christmas came to Botezatu family

“House full of Christmas” campaign, launched by Edelweiss Foundation on December 4, came to

Botezatu family from Chisinau; a house full of kids and joy. The family has six children aged 2-11,

and the seventh child is on his way. For Botezatu family, this Christmas will be an unforgettable

one, because they received things they wanted for so long, together with a load of other gifts that

will remind them of this holiday.

PAGE 17

Children were excited about the Christmas tree and decorations, which they started to decorate

on the spot. Each Christmas tree decoration was hanged with a wish, while Edelweiss Foundation

made it come true. Children

received the desired gifts,

sweets and toys; and

thanked Edelweiss team by

means of beautiful

Christmas poems. Olga

Botezatu, mother expecting

her seventh child, also

received much needed

presents to be able to take

care of her newborn to come.

The father of the family was

deeply touched by Edelweiss kind and generous move.

2.17. Edelweiss team gave presents to a family with ten children

The Edelweiss Foundation arrived today to Drochia district, to visit the beautiful and large Vieru

family, from Gribova village. The representatives of the charity foundation gave presents to the 10

children and their parents Ina and Gheorghe, in the framework of the House full of Christmas

campaign.

“We already received our presents, there were presents for all of us”, exclaimed one of the children

of Vieru family. “We have a tree and decorations for it, we received candies and toys, books, puzzle

games, school supplies, and many other games”, said his brothers all together.

Joy and enthusiasm filled the house from Gribova village, where, today, the family decorated its

Christmas tree. Overwhelmed by the atmosphere of celebration, the 10 children of Vieru family,

along with their parents and Edelweiss Foundation representatives, sang carols and smiled from

the bottoms of their hearts.

PAGE 18

“Samuel, Gicu-Nataniel, Simina, Rebeca, Abigaila and Estera, Emanuela, Lenuța and Fernando,

Cristian. They are the 10 children of Vieru family, from the youngest to the oldest. Samuel is only

3 months and a half, and

Cristian is 20. There are

two twin girls of 9 years

old and another pair of

twins of 14 years old. The

atmosphere in the Vieru’s

house is extraordinary,

children are playing,

singing carols, they are

great”, said one of the

Edelweiss Foundation

volunteers, after the visit to

Gribova village. Here, Vieru family is making a living on working in vegetable greenhouses.

2.18. Reasons for joy in the home of Ivanov family: ,,We wouldn’t have managed to do it alone”

The Edelweiss Foundation

team visited today the

house of Ivanov family

from Durlesti. With this

occasion, the five children

of the family together

with their parents had the

opportunity to decorate

the Christmas tree. They

sand carols and enjoyed

the first presents of this

year’s holiday season.

PAGE 19

“We are endlessly grateful for the presents our children received, thank you from the bottom of

our hearts”, exclaimed excitedly Natalia Ivanov, the mother of Nicoleta (11 years), Andreea (10

years), Alexandru (4 years), Andrei (2 years) and Maria (6 months). She told the charity foundation

team about the struggles they face from week to week, about the costs for maintaining the house

and raising and education the five children. “It is difficult for us to face everyday challenges,

especially when my husband is the only one to work. Alone, we wouldn’t have managed to give

these wonderful presents to our children”, said the mother.

This is the third donation offered by Edelweiss in the framework of this year’s campaign, carried

out with the occasion of winter holydays. Furthermore, during December, many socially-

vulnerable families from the country will receive gifts and help.

2.19. Visiting family Ciumaș

The House full of Christmas campaign continues and, in addition to the traditional holiday

presents, offers a surprise for the birthday of one of the children of Ciumas family, from Magura

Noua village, Falesti region.

The Edelweiss Foundation

visited the home of Ciumas

family on a very special

occasion: Eugenia’s

birthday, who is 8 years old.

On her birthday, along

with her brother and

sisters, and parents Tudor

and Feodosia, Eugenia

enjoyed the gifts and the

decorated Christmas tree.

Ciumas family from Magura Noua is the fourth family visited by Edelweiss, in the framework of

House full of Christmas Campaign, carried out in December. From the five children, Ilona (12

years), Valeria (9 years), Eugenia (8 years), Roma (3 years) and Teodora (10 months), by far the

lustiest was Roma, the three year old boy how tried all the candies and encouraged the rest of the

family to do the same.

PAGE 20

Through the donations offered with this opportunity, Edelweiss wanted to help all the members

of Ciumas family, who are facing financial problems in educating their children. During this year’s

campaign, Edelweiss wants to offer financial support to many socially vulnerable families from

different regions of the country.

2.20. Edelweiss brings the holiday spirit to students with special needs

Shortly before the beginning of winter school break, the Edelweiss team made a surprise to the

children of the Resources Center of the “Grigore Vieru” middle school, from Chetrosu village of

Anenii Noi region.

The 15 students of the Center come from socially vulnerable families and have special educational

needs; some of them suffer from severe disabilities. They were extremely glad to meet the

Edelweiss representatives,

especially since they have

fulfilled the wishes,

children wrote about in

their letters.

Children's wishes have

impressed the

representatives of

Edelweiss, especially

because they relate the

needs of the Resource

Center, where they feel happy,

The visit to a small

educational institution

a few days ago resulted

in a donation of a

modern computer from

School of Arts from

Gratiesti.

There are 120 children studying at the modest School of Arts from Gratiesti. Most of them are

winners of different festivals within and outside the country. They learn painting, theatre,

choreography, orchestra, and play violin and flute. They are guided with much love by their

teachers, some of them being famous artists. From now on, all these talented children will also be

3.3. Edelweiss makes the dream of Arts High School students come true

September 22nd 2015 will

remain a memorable

day for the 3rd B class

students from “Ion si

Doina Aldea-

Teodorovici” Arts High

School from Chisinau,

thanks to the Edelweiss

team, who made their

dream to have a modern

education to come true.

Under the guidance of the class master Galina Lupusor, the students of 3rd B class with fine arts

profile, are working hard, have great results and are eager to try new methods of learning. Last

year, the children were delighted to learn certain subjects by watching educational films using a

projector borrowed from another school. Unfortunately, the projector was not available at all times,

the projecting screen was missing, and therefore the class master Galina Lupusor had no other

choice than to give up this educational method, to the children’s disappointment.

Parents together with the class teacher discussed about the created situation and got to the

conclusion that the best solution for a better education of their children would be to buy a

projector and a screen. The only obstacle to realize this idea is the limited financial possibilities of

the parents.

The Edelweiss team found put about the situation from the parents, and on September 22nd

surpised the 3rd grade students, bringing to the class a modern projector and a portable screen.

PAGE 23

The joy and gratefulness on children’s faces was the greatest reward for the Edelweiss team. The

students promised to have good results in this school year, because they now have access to

advanced education methods.

herself each time she is performing on stage. Nicoleta plays the violin since the age of six, practices

a couple of hours each day and dreams of performing on big stages of the world. Recently Nicoleta

3.6. Edelweiss team, donation for school students from Cristesti village

The wishes of 3rd grade

students from Cristesti

village, Nisporeni region,

communicated by the

class master Svetlana

Secrieru, had an impact

on the Edelweiss team,

who rushed to fulfill

them.

The children wanted to

have a modern laptop

and audio speakers, which

will help them to diversify their learning methods. The school already has a projector and a screen,

a printer-scanner. The only thing that was lacking and that would help them use all of this for

education was a laptop.

On October 21st , Edelweiss representatives arrived at the school from Cristesti, attended by more

than 100 children from socially vulnerable families, and visited mainly the 3rd grade students, who

welcomed them with a lot of joy.

Besides the long-awaited laptop and speakers, the Edelweiss team brought along many donations

The informatics professor, who teaches in this school, said that from now on the students will have

to apply all their theoretic knowledge into practice: “It is very difficult to explain to all of them at

once, especially when there are children who do not have a computer at home. During a computer
