02 Annual Report Lenoir Community College
I am pleased to present Lenoir Community College’s 2010–2011 Report of the President and the Foundation showcasing our students’ achievements and our accomplishments for the past ace of providing quality education and services to the citizens of Lenoir, Greene, and Jones Counties. Assisting our students with the
fulfillment of their dreams has always been and continues to be our top priority. Since opening its doors on April 3, 1958, Lenoir Community College has served literally hundreds of thousands of people who might not otherwise have been afforded the opportunity to pursue their educational goals. We are a beacon to our region in the area of economic development. In a time where many of our neighbors are concerned about their ability to provide the bare necessities for their families, now more than ever, community colleges are looked upon to train and retrain our workforce. This is a responsibility
that we do not take lightly. LCC continues to be on the cutting edge of technical knowledge, providing opportunities to our students and to the communities we serve. We are constantly evaluating and planning for the future by offering new courses and programs, designing and constructing new facilities, and bringing the newest innovations to our campuses. As educators, we are reminded that we are living in an age where classrooms have no walls and social networking has no boundaries. I am proud to say that LCC online classes have grown 17 percent over the past year. We are challenged to provide the most comprehensive selection of courses and emerging technologies to meet the demands of our current and future workforce.
With our assistance, local citizens will soar beyond their greatest expectations. The College’s Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, and staff are appreciative of the overwhelming support from the communities we serve. It is because of that support that LCC continues to be a leader on the local, regional, and state levels. Our sincere desire is to aid every citizen of Lenoir, Greene, and Jones Counties with their ambitions for the future. After more than 50 years, LCC continues to be committed to providing academic excellence, cultural and social opportunities, and customized workforce training. I hope you take time to read this report and find out why we say LCC is “Your College in Your Community.”
