Senior Pastor Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

“And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul…” (Acts 4:32) The early church had little in terms of resources, property or paid ministry staff, but what they did possess was so powerful, it turned the world upside down. Acts 4:32 reveals the key- oneness of mind and heart centered on supernatural sacrificial care for one another, passion for Jesus, and a compelling conviction to spread His gospel far and wide to all peoples. As God has chosen this past year to bless CBC with a long-awaited new addition to our facility, I have become more keenly aware that buildings, while being helpful resources, do not change lives. Rather it is through the compelling community of a unified church and the collective power of faithful witness through surrendered lives, which does change lives. When we opened our new Commons area on January 20th, it was a day of great celebration. Years of prayer, planning and sacrificial giving finally came to fruition in a beautiful and functional space. But for the leadership of CBC, celebration has turned to thoughtful contemplation. How does God want us to use this new space for ministry, outreach, discipleship and soul care? Those are the big questions before us and we are earnestly praying for clear direction on these matters in the months ahead. One thing is clear, these new spaces are not for our comfort nor our boasting. They are for the expansion of God’s Kingdom –rescuing the lost and equipping the saved. Since God has seen fit to put his favor on us materially, we now have a profound responsibility to strategically steward these gifts for gospel growth in our community and the world. Whatever shape and form this takes in our future, oneness of heart and mind among ourselves will be indispensable. Undoubtedly, the Enemy wants to undermine this unity at all costs- seeking to divide, dissuade, and demoralize, but we must remain vigilant to stand against his schemes and humble ourselves before the mighty hand of God. To put it succinctly, He must increase, but we must decrease (John 3:30). The most valuable asset of any church is its people and while the number of bodies in a particular building is not necessarily an indicator of success in ministry, it does represent who the Lord is choosing to bring to us. This past year, our average Sunday morning worship attendance was 196, a decrease of about 6% from the previous year. Our peak attendance month was July (230 avg.) and our lowest, February (152 avg.). Holiday services always draw many visiting guests with us. On Christmas Eve we welcomed 685 - one of the largest attended events in our church’s history. On Good Friday, we recorded 147 in attendance, and on Resurrection Sunday, 351- many of who enjoyed our special Easter brunch in our brand-new Commons. Since the church is a family of families, it is a joy to report that God has entrusted 118 total family units to CBC. 124 individuals in those families are identified in covenant relationship (membership) with us. This past year, we added 11 new members and lost 11 members, the majority to relocation. In early September, we baptized three teens and two adults in the Deschutes River at our Church Picnic- truly a glorious day! This past year I helped officiate the memorial service of our previous Church Secretary, Joyce Bromps, who faithfully served this body 25 years. In seminary I was introduced to a three-fold paradigm of pastoral ministry: LEAD, FEED, and INTERCEDE. That second priority consists of the faithful, well-balanced and accurate diet of scriptural teaching and preaching, which comprises one of our key distinctives as a church. Over this past year, we were blessed to “feed” on many books and biblical themes. At this time last year we were finishing an exciting journey through Jonah (Rebellion Meets Grace). During the summer we considered the many facets of one of the central core elements of the Christian life in an 11-week series (By Faith). In late September we started a new series in the very practical epistle of Titus (Adorning the Gospel) which concluded in early December. Our Advent season focused on the centrality of worship in celebrating the birth of Christ in a 5-part series, Adore. In

January, we launched a special series on biblical community which explored the blessings and responsibilities of our shared Life Together. In mid-March we launched a series on the oft-neglected and ignored book of Leviticus (Separation & Reconciliation), which we will finish soon. There were several stand-alone messages during the year which provided some additional variety to the preaching calendar. On Father’s Day weekend I preached a message entitled A Legacy of Integrity from Proverbs. On our Ministry Fair Sunday, I preached To Serve & Not Be Served. On the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving, I delivered a message entitled The Gratitude Gap from Luke 17. On the first Sunday of the New Year, I shared about the Blessedness of Newness. On Good Friday, we plumbed the depths of Jesus as the one and only Lamb of God from John 1. Palm Sunday perfectly coincided with our Leviticus series in looking at The Holiest Day of the Year. On Easter Sunday, I preached a unique homily from Revelation 1, entitled Alive Forevermore. On Mother’s Day, I examined the topic of Why Mother’s Matter. I am so thankful that we have a congregation of people who love the “pure milk” of the Word and expect to be taught deeply. Over this past year, we were honored to have several guest speakers who brought us thoughtful messages and allowed me the chance to “come up for air” or be away. Among these were: Peter Mead who preached on how marriage is typified throughout the entire scriptural record (Lost in Wonder), Chris Wick who shared Lessons from the Life of Zacchaeus, Jess Joles who preached about God’s Faithfulness to His Faithful, Missionary Guy Bankston who challenged us to keep Marching On, Tim Phillips and Cam Arensen who each took one of the messages in the Titus series (Adorning the Gospel), Mark Kanko who preached a message from the Advent series (Adore) and then commendably filled in for me at the last-minute on Christmas Eve for when I came down with laryngitis, Dr. Bradley West who reminded us that we are Forgiven to Forgive, another message by Cam Arensen from Philippians 4 entitled, I’ve Found The Secret, and last, but not least, our own Marshall McBride delivered an inspiring farewell message from 2 Cor. 8:9; Grace: It’s Going To Cost You! I am very grateful for Marshall’s many contributions to our worship ministry over the past five years. For professional development, I and the rest of our ministry staff had the privilege of attending the Gospel Coalition West Coast Conference in Fullerton, California last October. In addition to some team bonding, the theme, Enduring Faithfulness, was a needful reminder to each of us amidst various discouragements that had arisen. I also was also afforded the chance to take a personal enrichment trip in late February to the country of Turkey. This unique opportunity to visit the archeological ruins of the seven churches in Revelation greatly enhanced my understanding of the Bible and Bible lands. In looking back over the last four years of the Eternal Connextions Campaign and Project, I would be remiss to not mention the incredible amount of time and effort our elder team has put into seeing this vision become a reality. Much of their work was behind the scenes, but what is clear at this juncture is that their “labor of love” was the key element in helping us cross the finish line and see the Commons and new educational space below become a reality. Over these past 16 years, I am increasingly aware of the immense privilege it has been to serve as your lead pastor. Your faithful prayers and words of encouragement have meant so much to Nancie and me. God is doing a good work here and as we passionately pursue and protect our “oneness of heart and mind” we can truest that He will do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think in the years to come.

Respectfully Submitted by Glen Schaumloeffel, Senior Pastor

Worship & Music Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

Dear People of Community Bible Church, I will greatly miss seeing and working with the wonderful people I have come to know at CBC. I thank you for letting me serve here and for putting up with my idiosyncrasies and mistakes! In addition to the church as a whole and all those who have volunteered to serve in various facets of the worship ministry, I especially want to thank Larry Sutter (sound guy) and Heather Biswell (CBC secretary) for helping me out and also putting so much heart and time into worship activities here. I am very happy to be succeeded by Lyman Flenner supported by his wife Jan. I trust that the congregation will support and encourage them in every way possible, and hope many of you will consider serving in some aspect of the worship ministry as needs and opportunities are made known. In particular I urge you to consider joining Choir when the next season begins, if you are not involved already. New leadership has the potential to breathe new life and excitement into a group, and I see Lyman as bringing a new level of professionalism to the choir and running rehearsals in an enjoyable and efficient manner. It’s important to realize that there are certain core tasks that will be done by all worship leaders and choir directors, but then each leader chooses various optional undertakings to pour his time into. Under one leader, certain people may receive a lot of help or be used in certain ways, whereas under another leader, it may then be the season for other people to receive help or be used in various roles. You will probably like most, but perhaps not all the changes that occur. The best course is to rejoice in what the Lord is doing through new leadership and be part of the forward movement of CBC worship! By the way, if you don’t notice huge differences the day Lyman starts his official position as Worship Director, it’s probably because he and Jan have been doing so much already. They have been so generous with their help these last three years, I have trouble remembering how I got along without them! Now that I will be working only one job, Laurie and I will have time to start the lengthy process of getting our home into a sellable condition. Our plan, subject to God’s will, is to move near to our daughter and her family. In the meantime, don’t be surprised if you run into us at Costco or somewhere in the vicinity.

Student Ministries Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

It is a pleasure to report to the CBC family that the students of Unshakable Youth Group have enjoyed another

year of fun filled experiences in youth group. These experiences - the stuff of lifetime memories – are so

special in that the relationships, the growth, the fun and the learning, are all grounded in and point to Christ,

our relationship with Him and the eternal relationships we enjoy through Him. The teenage years are such a

special time, and the growth that young people experience is like no other time in their life. That’s why it is

such an important opportunity to infuse these years with teaching that opens the Word of God, revealing

Jesus Christ as the way, the truth and the life. Youth Group is an opportunity to weave the love of Jesus and

the absolute truth of His word into the fabric of the lives of these students not just producing powerful

lifetime memories, but an opportunity to set the trajectory of their lives towards Christ, to know the truth

and stand firm and be UNSHAKABLE in their faith, undaunted in the face of a culture and world system in

opposition to God and engaged in a battle for the hearts and minds of these young people.

We have had a busy year and covered a lot of ground in the biblical curriculums that we have explored. After

last summer’s Identity in Christ series, we studied the love of Jesus Christ (agape’) and the difference between

what the world is selling as love, and the true substantial, life changing love found only in Christ. We also

completed a biblical world view series called the Secret Battle of Ideas About God from Summit Ministries

which was a blessing, as well as Lessons for Youth to Counter the Culture with the Truth about God’s Love. We

have finished off our school year with a Bible study series called Foundations – What Are You Building Your

Life On? These Bible and biblical studies have been excellent teaching opportunities and growth experiences

for everyone including parents and staff.

We have recently instituted a new prayer program for our students, and we are happy to report that over 80

prayer cards were taken home by members and regular attenders from our body. That means that each one

of our students have been adopted by CBC folks who will be praying daily for each individual student. With

the current state of affairs in our culture and in the world today, these generations of youth have their backs

up against the wall. They are constantly under the assault of ideologies that disdain Jesus Christ and

powerfully seductive false narratives designed to lead these young people down destructive paths away from

Christ’s truth and love; towards the worldly and delusional trends of popular culture, quite a few of these

even disguised and masquerading as God’s truth and love. Our youth need your prayers more than ever

before, and we are so happy that the body at CBC has made that commitment. Pray for our students to be

brought into a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and pray a hedge of

protection around them that, as they grow and mature, they would understand their faith and be discerning

in a world system designed to confuse with subtlety. Pray also that our students would know and live by the

truth of God’s word and stand firm in God’s truth, that they would be unshakable and steadfast in their faith.

Thank you for your prayers CBC!

Unshakable Youth group is also grateful and happy to report that we have been given the go ahead to re-

purpose the old Fellowship Hall into the new CBC Family Youth Center. This work has already begun, and we

plan to be completed with final changes and painting in the coming first weeks of summer. We are so thankful

for the space and opportunity. Wednesday nights and youth events are a whole new experience at

Unshakable Youth Group already.

As we move from spring into summer, we are looking forward to another influx of students graduating from

AWANA into Unshakable to join us for an exciting summer full of fun activities, exciting opportunities,

relationships in Christ and the pursuit of life lived for Him our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We are grateful to CBC for your prayers and support.

Hebrews 12:28 “Therefore, since we receive a kingdom

which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God

an acceptable service with reverence and awe.”

In all Things, Christ! His Kingdom Unshakable – Our Faith Unshakable!

Children’s Ministries Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

Did you know that more than ½ of the people who will trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior do so by age 12?

Did you know that by the time a child is 9 years old their basic moral foundation has been formed?

Did you know that by age 13 a child has formed their basic beliefs about the nature of God, the reliability of the Bible, the existence of an afterlife & the everlasting love of Jesus?

CBC Children’s Ministries are committed to ministering to children from birth through sixth grade while coming alongside parents for the purpose of intentional evangelism and discipleship. Our vision is to nurture and develop the following areas: 1) a spiritual hunger for God, 2) an awareness of His presence, 3) a pursuit to be in relationship with our Creator and Savior, 4) a love for His Word, 5) a practice of regular prayer, and 6) a response to serve Him and others. We thank God for the privilege of touching the lives of children and their families through this ministry, and we celebrate what He is doing! Children’s Ministries are staffed through volunteer servants. Sunday servants serve on a rotational schedule and mid-week servants serve weekly. CBC is blessed to have a team of dedicated Children’s Ministry volunteers who are passionate in their love for God and for His purposes for kids! Might YOU consider joining our team this summer?! The purpose of children’s church is to train and equip our kids to be lifelong learners and disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. This year, we continued our third year of study using Answers Bible Curriculum produced by Answers in Genesis. AWANA Kids Club NEXT: Equipping the NEXT Generation with Timeless Biblical Truths and Practical Life Skills were our goals for the 2018-2019 club year. We ministered to 17 families. We are praising God that 8 of the 17 families were brand new to our AWANA ministry. Our large group study focused on God’s creation and His love for humanity. Thank you to Tom Almond, Vicki Kanko, and Tony Cardwell for assisting with our teaching. Thank you to Pastor Glen for sharing God’s Word and songs with the children. AWANA is our mid-week ministry committed to reaching children and youth with the Gospel, and training them to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. Our meeting dates are from September through April, Wednesdays, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This year, our club hosted two Family Swim Nights at the SHARC and one Family Taco Dinner as part of our Awards Ceremony. Kathy Sturgeon, JJ & Brenda Johnson, Pat Thompson, and Colleen Sullivan. Our AWANA Prayer Team consisted of Suzanne Nunes, Thelma Moxley, Diane Hayes, & Alice Bales who faithfully prayed for each club night and weekly clubber requests. This year, our club filled 46 shoeboxes for our Operation Christmas Child Project!

Good News Club: Since January 2014, CBC has partnered with CEF/Ponderosa Chapter to sponsor a Good News Club within the walls of Three Rivers School! Our mission field includes students in grades K - 8. Our meeting dates are October through April, Thursdays, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Our goal is for every child in our community to have the opportunity to hear of God's great love and salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. This year our study focused on “God the One Who Knows My Heart – David’s Heart for God,” “God Rules Be Strong – God Honors and Protects Daniel and his friends,” and “Jesus: God Who Came to Earth – Our Savior Has Come.” We were blessed to have Bonnie Rogers, Colleen Sullivan and Michele Cardwell as team members! This year our group was smaller, yet we are praising God for the 4 new families!

Vacation Bible School 2019: We are gearing up for VBS 2019 Time Lab! Imagine traveling back in time and witnessing epic events in history. Imagine the thrill of meeting great heroes of the faith like Abraham, Moses, or Gideon. Now imagine traveling through time and meeting the most important man ever—a man who was not just a man, but also God! One who turned the world upside-down. One who existed outside of time who has NO BEGINNING OR END! JOIN US AS WE DISCOVER JESUS FROM ETERNITY PAST TO ETERNITY FUTURE, JULY 22-26, 2019! New this year, plans are in motion to include a mid-week afternoon parking lot carnival following our Wednesday VBS! How can you help? Glad you asked…details soon coming in your Sunday bulletin! Vacation Bible School is our summer ministry opportunity that ministers to CBC children, our community, and guests of Sunriver for a full week of fun, adventure, learning, games, and crafts. We have the awesome privilege to proclaim God’s Word, share the Good News message, invite kids to choose Christ as Lord and Savior, and equip young believers to live for Christ! This year’s VBS offering project TBA!

Children’s Ministries Praises for June 2018 - May 2019:

• Praising God for scattered little hand prints, paper airplanes in the new dormer, and glitter on the floor, because it is a reminder that God has brought families with parents who love Jesus so much they want to train their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord in the sphere of CBC and their home!

• Praising God for each of our children who come regularly, invite their friends to events, memorize God’s Word, and add life and energy to our body of Christ!

• Praising God for all the new families that have engaged in our ministries to children!

• Praising God for our two young men, Riley Kanko and Bryce Roggenkamp, that chose in obedience to publicly identify with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection by being fully immersed in the Deschutes River waters to be baptized at our All-Church Picnic in September 2018!

• Praising God for the team of volunteers who faithfully serve throughout the year in Children’s Ministries, too!

Children’s Ministries Prayer Requests for June 2019 - May 2020:

• Prayer for non-Christian children and parents to see their need for Christ and trust in Him.

• Prayer that our children would continue to grow in their relationship with Christ.

• Prayer for new families to attend CBC.

• Prayer for a new playground and structure for our children to enjoy. https://proplaygrounds.com/product/big-dipper-commercial-playground/

• Prayer for our summer VBS ministry and for fall ministry opportunities.

We thank God for His blessings in 2018-2019 and for what He accomplished in and through Children’s Ministries! Prayerfully consider how God might use YOU in our ministry to children!

There are times when God truly blesses His people. This is one of those times. By faith we embarked on Eternal Connextions as a means to expand His impact in the communities south of Bend. God has truly blessed us with the means to bring the physical structure from concept to reality. A couple of curiosities have been noticed that, frankly, we are trying to evaluate. Those two things are attendance and donations. First, attendance. This fiscal year we are averaging 210 people for Sunday worship services. In 2012 our average attendance was 238. Our average attendance has slowly declined since then. The second thing we’ve noticed is that in during the 2018/2019 fiscal year, our donations have declined noticeably. What’s peculiar is the decline in donations is quite recent, while the attendance slowdown is of longer duration. You can read more details of fiscal impacts and planning in the Treasurer’s report elsewhere in this document. The elders have spent much time envisioning and investigating possibilities God might put before us in the coming months and years. As yet have not fully developed how those possibilities might materialize but continue to refine our vision. The children’s ministry, youth group and adult education will be expanding into their new spaces within our expanded facilities. New children’s ministry outreach plans are being put into place. Our building is being opened up to use by outside groups such as the Sunriver Chamber of Commerce. We have new and relatively new ministries such as our cancer survivor prayer fellowship and support group and our prayer shawl group. Home groups expanded this past year further south toward La Pine. A new home group in Bend is anticipated to begin this coming fall. Which brings us to where you can have the largest impact on His work in this area. Invite your friends. Your neighbors, your relatives. Tell them of the grace of God that saves them in eternity. Tell them how God has changed your lives. “Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:” (Matthew 28:19.) We are all laborers in His vineyard. There are people out there whose lives you can touch. Eternal Connextions is not a building, it is His people – His Church. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28). We truly believe that it’s His purpose to expand the ministries and impacts that CBC can make in the communities south of Bend through CBC. We will use the expanded building to touch the lives of people.

Deacon Board Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

The CBC Deacon Board (DB) was re-established at the Annual Meeting on June 4th 2017 in compliance with the CBC Constitution. Currently, the diaconate consists of 15 formally appointed deacons/deaconesses who meet every 3rd Monday of the month to plan, coordinate, and implement collaborative decisions initiated or influenced by the CBC pastor/staff. To help ensure clarity of decisions requiring DB implementation action, the DB-Chair and DB-Elder representatives recently began to participate once a month at the Wednesday pastor/staff weekly meetings. This collaborative approach is intended to reduce ambiguity and help ensure clarity of 5-W’s via effective up-front two-way communication and buy-in during the decision-making process among the pastor/staff and deacon board implementers. Hopefully, this will eliminate virtually all subsequent change-requests that frequently ensued in the past.

Throughout the 2018-2019 fiscal year, several CBC-DB changes occurred including the relocation of Dave Behrens, DB-Head Deacon, to Prescott AZ in August 2018. The DB-Vice-Chair and Chairman of the Missions Care Team, Ed English, agreed to step-in and serve as the interim DB-Head Deacon until a replacement was approved. On 9/18/18 the Elder team approved changing the DB Head Deacon title to DB-Chair; and, also approved Cathy LeDuc to serve the DB Vice-Chair replacing Ed English. Ed continues to serve CBC as both a deacon in the role of Chairman of the Missions Care Team (MCT), and as a CBC Elder, serving as the DB liaison to the Elder team. In addition, Michael LeDuc was recently appointed to serve as the CBC-DB-Chair. Other changes planned to take effect this coming fiscal year include the appointment of Don Biswell as Head Usher, who will relieve Michael LeDuc who served as Head Usher since January 2019, when Olga Almond stepped down after 2.5 years of faithful service! Michael LeDuc will serve as both: the DB-Chair; and, as a deacon in charge of Facility Maintenance. In view of these changes, below is our current diaconate and associated ministries:

DEACON AREA OF MINISTRY *DESIGNATES CHANGE

*MIKE LEDUC *DB-Chair / Facility Maintenance *CATHY LEDUC KIRK ANDEREGG

*DB-Vice-Chair / Women’s Events Men’s Events

DENNIS/LAURIE ANGELL SOS (Support of Seniors/Sick/Surgicals/Singles) *DON BISWELL *Ushering JOSH CABA Information Technology (IT) Communications CAROL CASSETTY Women’s Teaching *ED ENGLISH Missions Care Team (MCT) BRENDA JOHNSON Fellowship BOB JONES Information Technology (IT) Communications LYNN JONES Greeting MAURICE/ANN LEE Hospital and Shut-in Visitation MARY ANN MEISSNER Decorations BEVALEE RUNNER Meal Support LARRY SUTTER Audio/Visual

Each of the ministries above are thriving, as evidenced by the individual diaconate yearly summary reports embedded in this CBC Annual Report. We are grateful for the significant commitment of time and effort provided by every diaconate member, and for their undaunted ongoing support of CBC ministries! The fiscal year increase of CBC volunteers who enrolled to assist ministries such as Greeting, SOS, and Meal Support was significant, and much appreciated! However, one remaining challenge is that of recruiting even more volunteers to assist with increased duties associated with our building expansion, and for meeting growing congregational needs! In this regard, we need additional or replacement volunteers in virtually all ministries to avoid burnout, and to provide periodic relief for vacations, sickness, and personal reasons. Specific ministries that currently need additional volunteers include: Hospital & Shut-in Visitations; Facilities Maintenance, Women’s Events, SOS (Support of Seniors/Sick/Surgicals/Singles) and the Missions Care Team (MCT). Per Peter’s inspiration below, we would challenge everyone at CBC to find an area where you can serve the body of Christ, and if it is a ministry supported by one of our deacons, please contact them or the DB-Chair to volunteer. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)

To God be the Glory! Submitted by Ed English, Interim Head Deacon

Missions Care Team Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

The CBC Missions Care Team (MCT) serves as partner with 16 CBC ministries/missionaries who are directly engaged in fulfilling the transformational “great commission” referenced below:

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” (Matthew 24:14)

“Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matt 28:19) “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to everyone” (Mark 16:15)

Throughout 2018-2019 Missions Care Team members met monthly on the 2nd Thursday @ 1 p.m. with the primary focus of providing:

1) Care via prayer support, encouragement, & identifying & fulfilling special needs 2) Communication via CBC congregational updates, acknowledgement of missionary newsletters & publication of MCT meeting minutes; etc. 3) Coordination via planning & executing all arrangements to facilitate missionary visits or conferences; seeking additional new MCT members; and liaison with the Elder Board 4) Consultation with all supported missionaries and ministries including periodic monitoring of increased or decreased financial needs vs. budgeted financial support levels to assess & recommend to the Elder Board any needed adjustments. Additionally, to assess all appeals for financial support of potential new missionaries or ministries & make recommendations to the Elder Board.

During the past fiscal year, the Missions Care Team was comprised of the following 9 members: Ann Brenda, Ed & Mary English, Patti Iverson, Rockne Lechelt, George Maurer, Kay Raisner, Maxine Wilgus, and Kathi Wolbert. MCT changes from the previous fiscal year include Gina Reedy who joined the MCT this year; however, she later resigned due to conflicting work obligations. Also, Maxine Wilgus is currently unable to participate, since she is in an adult foster home pending recovery from her illness. This will reduce our MCT-core team to 8 members. In this regard, the MCT continues to actively seek new members and would welcome anyone who feels led by the Holy Spirit to serve on the CBC Missions Care Team! Simply contact the church office (541-593-8341) or Ed English (925-785-3290). The MCT meets monthly on the 2nd Thursday @ 1 pm for an hour, primarily to pray for our supported missionaries and ministries. Feedback and/or Visitations from CBC missionaries and ministries serve as a major highlight of our MCT ministry! Throughout fiscal 2018/2019, we were graced with visits or notable interaction with the following ministries and/or missionaries:

1. Peter & Melanie Mead - OM USA who serve in the United Kingdom: While visiting last June, both Peter & Melanie participated in conducting an insightful seminar on Marriage & Parenting on June 9th, 2018. Peter also preached the CBC Sunday message on June 10th, 2018.

2. Chris & Ashley Wick – Slovenia: While on furlough from Slovenia, Chris preached at CBC on Sunday July 8th, 2018 and attended an MCT meeting on Thursday, July 12th, 2018.

3. Franklin Graham-Decision America – MCT members supported the Franklin Graham event at Christian Life Center Amphitheater on August 3rd, 2018. Ed served as a counselor for this Spirit-filled life-changing event.

4. Paul & Stacy Cassidy-Cadence International: The CBC elder board agreed to a request from Paul & Stacy Cassidy for CBC to serve as their primary sending church for a period of three years, after which CBC will re-evaluate. Currently the Cassidy’s are serving in a temporary administrative & recruiting capacity for Cadence due to parental dementia-related issues which necessitated their temporary return from the field.

5. Guy & Debbie Bankston – New Zealand: While on furlough from New Zealand in 2018, Guy preached at CBC on 9/23/18.

6. La Pine Community Kitchen – MCT members Patti Iverson and Kay Raisner visited the facility in September, 2018 and were enlightened to discover that this kitchen provides a much-needed service for the La Pine

community! Moreover, additional funding for food and basic health supplies is lacking, and very much needed.

7. Jason Koland - Adult & Teen Challenge (A&TC), Director: On 2/14/19, Jason Koland and one of his students participated in our February MCT meeting and provided an informative overview of the highly successful results of the A&TC substance-abuse recovery program in Bend, Oregon. Jason mentioned that they have completed renovation of their Central Oregon Men’s Campus that now has capacity for 24 men (only). He talked about inter-workings of the Pacific NW organization, and various fund-raising programs such as the donation ministry at Walmart, and the Teen Challenge used clothing store in Bend. In short, Jason provided an uplifting enthusiastic summary of some successes and challenges of the Adult & Teen Challenge organization that CBC helps support in Bend.

8. Brad & Sara Franklin – The Elisha Foundation serving North America: Brad lives in Portland, Oregon. Earlier this year, Brad was in Bend, OR to conduct a weekend retreat for those impacted by disabilities. Before leaving, he took time to meet & provide a thorough update of the many nationwide disability related events completed or planned this year (2019) and next year (2020).

9. Christian Youth Summit - Prepare the Way – Stephen Williams: On March 8th & 9th, 2019, MCT members George Maurer and Ed English joined the CBC Youth Group in attending the Christian Youth Summit held Friday & Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bend, OR. Keynote Speakers included Professor Mary Jo Sharp, and Nathan Betts, (Ravi Zacharias Ministries), along with Master of Ceremonies Bryon Mengle, Pastor and KNLR Radio Host. Keynote topics presented by Mary Jo Sharp included Conversational Apologetics; Encountering the Problem of Evil in Everyday Conversations; Responding to the Intolerance of the New Tolerance. Keynote topics presented by Nathan Betts included Exploring the Uniqueness of the Christian God; Real Questions; Real Answers; Responding to Three Major Objections to Christianity; The Power of Truth in an Anything-Goes Age. Breakout Sessions Included: Archaeology and the Bible; Artifacts that Support the Historical Reliability of the Bible; Navigating Public Schools; Protecting and Upholding a Biblical Worldview on Public School Campuses; Destination…Healthy Relationships (Female Only); How can we follow God’s signposts in the area of relationships?; and, Walking in Purity The Power of Truth in an Anything-Goes Age. The conference was well attended and well-orchestrated in meeting spiritual & cultural needs of the targeted millennial-age-group audience in virtually all aspects of what they observed or experienced!

In summary, we love and enthusiastically welcome our missionary visitors! We thank the Lord for the unique opportunity this presents for MCT members to hear first-hand what God is doing in their ministries…and to get to know our missionaries more personally, based on the one-to-one interpersonal communication that these interactive opportunities afford. In addition to those who visited CBC this past year, we are blessed to continue partnering with the following missionaries and ministries which include: AWANA Clubs Int’l-Jerry Berheim; Chad & Cheri Lawrence who serve Campus Crusade For Christ (CRU) at UCLA & USC campuses; Justin & Tamara Reimer–The Elisha Foundation serving in Ukraine; Lyman Flenner who serves Central Oregon as a Police Chaplain; and Gunnar & Svava Gunnarsson who serve in support of The Iceland Project. Other Ministries supported include Gideons International-Bill Ham who serves in Bend, OR; Pregnancy Resource Centers of Central Oregon, and our support of two children at the Roblealto Child Care Association in Costa Rica. Finally, Christmas-In-October was once again a highly successful and greatly appreciated program based on feedback from all our missionaries after having received financial Christmas gifts again this year. Sincere expressions of gratitude to CBC contributors were received for your ongoing faithfulness and support in helping to make their ministry possible…and their Christmas so special! In summary, “Thank You” for your ongoing prayers & financial support! Without your faithfulness, none of these ministries would be possible, let alone sustainable over time… they would quickly disappear! In this regard, our sincere prayer is that you will seriously consider that “The mark of a great church is not its seating capacity…but its sending capacity”!

Equipping Classes Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

The apostle Paul has made it clear that, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It our desire as a church to assist our local body and followers of Christ to be equipped for personal spiritual growth, Biblical knowledge, love for God’s Word, and its application, obedience, service in the church and reaching the lost in our contacts outside of the church. We also desire to raise up gifted teachers to grow and exercise their gift as well as help the body discover and grow in their spiritual gifts. This year we provided two equipping classes on Sunday mornings at 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.; The Book of Philippians and Eternity 101: A Biblical View of Heaven and Earth (DVD series). All are welcome to join future classes at any time, and we would love to have you. I would like to give a special thank you to all those who taught and participated in the following classes. Fall 2018: The Book of Philippians- taught by Randy Iverson Winter 2018- Spring 2019: DVD Series: Eternity 101: A Biblical View of Heaven and Earth by Randy Alcorn

Men’s Ministries Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

First off, we’d like to welcome Tony Cardwell to our Men’s Ministry leadership. Tony knows a whole lot about cooking and breakfasts and variety than in the past. The guys have been doing a little elbowing to get at the biscuits and gravy before it’s all gone. As in previous years we’ve had breakfasts and a golf tournament. Our first breakfast of the year in June, was actually held at The Door, our sister . . . brother? . . . congregation here in the Sunriver Business Park. Our own Randy Iverson spoke at that event. Our second breakfast took place in October, in our New Commons Area, with speaker Cam Arensen, a former pastor and missionary in Abu Dhabi. Quail Run Golf Course, owned by our own Les Howatt, hosted our golf tournament. We did have a frost delay which allowed our guys to spend time getting to know each other better. Once the frost was gone, we proceeded to do our best to destroy the golf course. That’s hyperbole. We actually only damaged it slightly. Divots don’t really count as destruction.

Men’s NEB Groups Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

The term NEB gets it origin from Ecclesiastes 4:12 which says: “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” The term NEB is an acrostic for the last three words of this verse: Not Easily Broken. Verses 8 through 10 of this passage provide the background: “There is one alone, without companion: He has neither son nor brother. yet there is no end to all his labors…. two are better than one…….. for if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.” The purpose of NEB is for small groups of men to get to know each other better and more intimately, for the purpose of encouragement and being there in support anytime one of us may feel weakened and in fear of falling or failing.

There are currently two NEB groups led by men of CBC: Steve Runner and Gary Farnam. The NEB groups are focused on men supporting men and are centered on the study of the Bible and Bible supporting books. Steve Runner – We currently meet Monday evenings at Steve Runner’s home south of Sunriver. After spinning off other NEB groups, our cell group currently has 14 men on its roster. Due to travel and other scheduling conflicts, the normal gathering for each meeting generally has had 8 to 10 men who gather on any given week. The best part of our NEB meetings is for our group of men to be able to come together to share what is on each of our minds and/or that is troubling us, to encourage each other as brothers in Christ, and to spend time together in prayer for one another. Gary Farnam - The group started the year with the study of a book, “A Man After God’s Heart”. There was a spell during the mid-year that meetings were not held because of health issues but once restarted we have studied and discussed Pastor Glen’s current sermons. We have found this very beneficial and instructional as it reinforces Pastor Glen’s great teaching. We meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays when the elders are not meeting at the home of Gary Farnam and we would like to invite any interested men to attend. All men should consider involvement in one of these groups for fellowship, comradery, learning, support, and friendship. Both groups include goodies and yum-yums. ☺

Men’s Bible Study Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

Randy Iverson and Gary Farnam have been the teachers for the majority of this year’s studies. This past year was devoted to a very detailed study of the book of John followed by John’s epistles, 1 John through 3 John. The classes have been well attended and marked by the great observations and discussions by the class members. The class has been blessed by the regular attendance of men from other Sunriver churches and by men visiting Sunriver. Class meets every Thursday at CBC at 10am. – all men are welcome!

Women’s Biblical Studies Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

Women of CBC are fortunate to have three options for Bible Study. Each group has been blessed by their study, prayer time and fellowship. All three groups started the fall studying the life of David, using “Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed,” a study by Kay Arthur, Beth Moore, and Priscilla Shirer. Our intent was to bring all three groups together for a recap of the study, but circumstances prevented that. It was good to talk though on Sunday mornings with participants of the other groups. This concluded in early December. The Tuesday morning Sunriver Bible Study met at the church at 9:30. The study of the life of David led us into a more in depth study of David in the books of 1 and 2 Samuel, a Precept Study, during the winter and spring months. We will conclude this study the first of June with a wrap-up and luncheon. The attendance has varied between 12 and 17 throughout the year. Carol Cassetty and Colleen Sullivan have been co-leaders of these studies this year.

The evening Sunriver Bible Study continued on Wednesday evenings during AWANA to meet the needs of working women and others. This past year they’ve completed: “Anointed, Transformed and Redeemed,” “The Case for Christmas,” “Gideon,” and “One in a Million.” While attendees vary, the average attendance on Wednesday evenings is around six; sometimes just a few, sometimes up to nine. Cathy LeDuc has been the leader on Wednesday nights. The fall session of our Bend Women’s Bible Study began with “Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed” study. After this they began the Priscilla Shirer 5-week study, “One in a Million” (to which we added a 6th week “wrap up” session) on January, and concluded the 7-weeks of study in April. This was an excellent study on our privilege of experiencing God’s glory, with the emphasis on the idea that only two of the original Israelites who were delivered from slavery, made it into the Promised Land. In April, we began the 5-week study by Priscilla Shirer entitled, “Breathe”. The theme is God’s gift of the Sabbath, and how we need to recognize the blessings and refreshing that honoring a “Sabbath” brings to our cluttered lives. We will conclude the study the end of May with a closing luncheon at the home of Bevalee Runner. On average, there were around 12 or 13 ladies present. Naomi Landorf has led this group throughout the year. This was a blessed year of study, and warm, joyful fellowship in the Lord. We encourage women to join us at one of these studies during the coming year. Thanks to Colleen, Cathy, and Naomi for their faithfulness to teaching the women of CBC and praise to the Lord for how He challenges us.

Women’s Ministry Events Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

This past year the women of CBC were blessed by the many opportunities to come together in worship and fellowship provided by the Women's Ministry Team. The season started with an inaugural Girl’s Time Out (GTO), Dinner with Debbie. Twenty four women fellowshipped with each other over soup and salad, capped off with a wonderful message of hope and inspiration by visiting missionary from New Zealand, Debbie Bankston. It was a wonderful evening enjoyed by all who attended.

Nearly 30 women participated in bringing together the Annual Ladies Christmas Dinner that ushered in the CBC Christmas season. In our final formal dining event in the beautifully decorated CBC sanctuary, Jan Flenner shared her powerful message, A Woman God Can Use, with nearly 100 women and girls. The delicious Tate & Tate catered dinner was made extra special by the 12 ladies who lovingly served as table hostesses, decorating their tables with precious place settings and nativity sets. As they have for so many events, many men came together to graciously serve and assist the women who attended. The Women’s Ensemble delighted everyone with special music Birthday of a King, and the evening was capped off as Glenn Crocker generously accompanied the ladies as everyone joined their voices to sing favorite Christmas carols to our King. The Ladies Spring Tea took place on a beautiful, sunny spring day in our new Commons! A big thank you to the 14+ women who joined together in planning, organizing and putting this wonderful event together, plus to the gracious men who came and lovingly served us. Lisa Ham touched us with the story of her shadows and light as she shared how God patiently and gently led her back to Him with her message, God’s Goodness: A Testimony in Light of James 1:17. A special thanks to the many women who worked so hard to decorate and to plan and prepare the scrumptious tea fare! To cap the afternoon off, the Women’s Ensemble, joined by special returning guest, Janie Bishop, shared special music.

Grandmother’s Prayer Group Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. you can find 8-10 grandmothers snugly ensconced in a room in the CBC annex praying for our children, grandchildren, ourselves, our country, leaders and of course our dear church body and staff. It is not a “drop in” group, but one where we are committed to each other, to be present each week, and to our mission: our deep need to commune with God. To praise, pray and seek Him in support with one another. We are held accountable to Him and one another. We write down praises and prayers and refer to them every day throughout the week. This group was started about 14 years ago by Suzanne Nunes with the blessing and direction from Pastor and elders and is still going strong. Times change. People change. Facilities change. But our great Almighty God does NOT change. One need not be eloquent or versed in praying aloud. We’re just talking with our Lord together. Some days one may choose to be silent or filled with “unspoken requests”. That’s alright! If you feel led by Him or have a need to be connected with us please feel free to come see what we’re all about! Questions? Call Patti Iverson (541-776-4982).

Prayer Shawl Group Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

The Shawl Ministry was started in 2016 by Suzi Steele. Since then we have grown to 7 members. We have gifted 31 shawls in 2019 alone. Total shawls gifted since the beginning is approaching 150. Each Tuesday we gather at noon on Tuesdays to share lunch, crafting time and prayers. Prayer shawls are knitted or crocheted by members of the group in preparation for gifting to those in need of prayer for healing, comfort, celebration. We pray over the shawls as they are created and again when the group gathers as we prepare to gift them. Anyone who would like to participate is invited to join us. If you are unable to join us, but would like to contribute finished shawls, yarn, or financial assistance to allow purchase of yarn and to help us with shipping expenses are encouraged to do so. Three Rivers Home Group Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

Speaking as the guy who’s leading our studies, I think this has been a very interesting year. We began at the beginning. The very beginning. Genesis 1:1. Our world and our country are experiencing increasingly secular social and scientific – if you’ll allow me to say it this way – devolution. We are not evolving as so many now days insist. We are devolving. Or, if I can steal from Robert Bork’s book title, we are “Slouching Toward Gomorrah”. Christianity and Christians are coming under increasing pressure and downright assault to renounce our beliefs. Using Henry Morris’ commentary, “The Genesis Record” as one of our both Biblical and scientific resources (and other strictly religious commentaries), we looked at the creation of the universe, the creation of man, the origins of sin and death. Along the way we took a look at many of the religious and secular counter theories of origins. We showed why those theories were truly speculative and how they failed when measured against scripture. Lynn and Bob Jones have hosted all of our meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. Thank you Jones’! We usually had from 8-10 people and upwards of 14 at our studies.

Monday Morning Men’s Prayer Group Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

The Monday morning Men’s Prayer Group has been meeting regularly for over 10 years now. Faithfully, we pray together for personal and congregational needs, for the church staff and ministry of the church, as well as for our country and our government. This past year, we said good-bye to Dave Behrens & Gil Juarez who both moved out of the area, but then welcomed Lyman Flenner to our group, which stands at 5 men. God has graciously answered many of our prayers and we praise Him for His faithfulness to us. We welcome any man who has a heart for prayer and a desire to commit to this time to join us at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays at CBC.

In His Service, Wally Qual

Decorations Committee Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

The decorating committee strives to glorify God as we set up the altar table each week, and also decorate for many special holidays and events during the year. We also make special banners as the need arises.

The members of our committee include: Carol Cassetty, Georgie Crocker, Lisa Ham, Randi Julianus, Ann Lee, Kim Messner, Judy Nelson, and Terry & Ginny Welander. In addition, there were many who came to help with our larger projects, such as Christmas and Easter. We especially appreciate Mike LeDuc and his team who hauled trees and boxes to and from storage at Christmas and put up the 2 large crosses for Easter. The fall ministries fair helped us to add 3 new members to our team: Georgie, Lisa and Randi. They are a huge blessing.

This past year, we have accomplished the following: 1. Created new fall decorations and put them up; set up a special altar for Thanksgiving. 2. Decorated for Christmas, coordinating with Pastor Glen to reflect his theme for the season. This year, we

added silver to the red & gold decorations and highlighted the word “ADORE” 3. Decorated for Easter, including Good Friday, and table decorations for the Sunday Easter brunch. 4. Decorated for the Ladies Spring Tea. 5. Coordinated altar decorations for special holidays, such as Memorial Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day,

Fourth of July, etc. Submitted by Mary Ann Meissner, Deaconess/Decorations Committee

Meal Support Ministry Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

Meal support is offered for church members and regular attenders on a temporary basis following surgery, childbirth, death of a loved one, and during illness. The scheduling of meals, communication, and follow-up with volunteers is handled through the Meal Train website (www.mealtrain.com). Using the website assures that all of the same information is communicated to each participant regarding dietary requirements, delivery time and location, etc. without extensive telephoning. Volunteers come from the congregation and sign-up is taken at the fall ministry fair or by personal contact. New volunteers are always welcome.

The Meal Support Ministry works closely with other CBC Ministries in identifying potential recipients of Meal Support. In the past fiscal year, the CBC Meal Train website recorded 33 volunteers providing 47 meals for 6 families. In addition there were multiple occasions where meals were arranged without going through the website. A special word of thanks to our dedicated group of volunteers who step up again and again, ready to bless their brothers and sisters with meals.

Hospital and Shut-In Visitation Team Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

“Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing” ~ Psalm 100:2

It’s in this hour of need that many face pain, sadness, confusion and depression. It is our desire to reach out as instruments of Christ and offer hope, comfort and love. Sometimes it’s just being present to listen, bring news or even play cards. Other times we are acting on the Holy Spirit’s prompting with the bringing of God's word of comfort, strength and support. As God is our great Physician, we intercede in prayer, both during our visit and in our daily prayers. Sometimes we visit and other times it’s just a simple phone call to hear how someone is doing and if any help is needed. It does not matter if you have a busy life with little time to spare or you are retired and could visit or call someone every week – we can make room for you in this important ministry!

In His Service, Maurice & Ann Lee- Deacons/Visitation

Ushers Ministry Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

The Usher Ministry continued to run smoothly this last year due to the thoughtful guidance of Pastor Glen and the strong commitment of those who serve faithfully. The mission of the Usher Ministry is to provide thoughtful and caring service to all who enter CBC. Our church is a warm and loving congregation of worshipers, and each usher who participate believes the tenor of love and respect we display announces who we are and the faith we have in Jesus Christ.

After 2½ years of excellent leadership, our beloved Head Usher Olga Almond requested to take a break. Olga set the tone for all ushers and made the transition for Michael LeDuc easy to accomplish. The dedicated group of members who weekly arrive early and assist in preparations assist the staff ensuring every service progresses as intended. Special appreciation to Gary Weston, Rocky Lechelt, Dan Abelein, Larry Cole, Kerry Stanley, Allyn Hayes, Tom Almond, Richard Wharton, Don Biswell, Erik Sammons, John Thompson, Tim Phillips, and Dennis Angell for serving each week as ushers. A very special thank you to Don Cassetty, JJ Johnson and Duke Nelson for greeting and directing worshippers where to park during holidays and special events-- no matter how severe the weather.

Greeters Ministry Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

Greeting people, as they enter the church is more than a handshake and a smile. It is the opportunity to express God’s love through Christ, and help set the tone of the upcoming worship service.

Greeters are the front-line of CBC’S hospitality. This year we have 29 greeters. We are on duty every Sunday, rotating team members, ½ hour before the service begins. We are focused on the upstairs new commons double doors, the upstairs elevator, and the fellowship entrance downstairs. Many of our downstairs greeters assist with helping the congregation walk safely from the car to the elevator. This has been important during periods of snow and ice. Greeters are extending their Christian kindness after the service, by welcoming visitors in the new commons. No ministry is more one on one than the ministry of church greeters.

A special thank you for all who serve, faithfully, in the greeter ministry. We welcome any of you, who would like to join our team. Please call the church office (541-593-8341) or Lynn Jones at (541-306-6588) if you are available to greet. Thank you.

IT Communications Ministry Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

In February 2019, as part of the Eternal Connextions building project, the church decided to upgrade our networking infrastructure with new switches and wireless access points for the staff and congregation. The speed of the network is roughly 10 times faster than before the upgrade. At the same time, we also changed to BendBroadband as our high-speed internet provider. Coming this June 2019, we are rolling out our new easy to remember domain name “CBCSunriver.org” for both staff emails and a new expanded website. The new website allows us to share video and audio content, and online sign-ups for our church ministries and missions support. There is a private section that is to be shared only with our membership, like the Church Directory, Annual Meeting Reports, a Prayer Wall (like what is in our Sunday bulletin), and other information from the Elder board. The goal of all of these upgrades is to improve both our internal and external communications, helping us to work together more effectively to spread the Gospel.

Fellowship Service Team Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

The CBC Fellowship/Communion Ministry consists of a team of 20 volunteers who are committed to ministering to the body of Christ; its members, families, friends and visitors. Following every Sunday worship service, the Fellowship Team prepares and serves coffee, pastry snacks, meat/cheese/cracker trays, fruit and other refreshments. CBC Fellowship-time offers a rich, vibrant interaction of shared commonality in serving our Lord.

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.” Romans 14:17-19 NIV

In January 2019, the hearts of CBC worshippers were filled with praise, honor, and thanks to God for His unending faithfulness and immeasurable provision in opening the doors of the new Commons addition with a large new kitchen. On January 15, 2019, CBC Fellowship volunteers & staff attended the new kitchen orientation; and, on January 20, 2019, we had our first Sunday Fellowship time in the new kitchen/Commons area. Shortly thereafter, new volunteers came forward and were trained in the duties of Fellowship set-up and Communion set-up, which resulted in the Fellowship/Communion ministry having a count of 20 volunteers. As expected, the expanse of space and cabinetry in the new kitchen presented some challenges to our team of volunteers. Some of the challenges in the new kitchen include; labeling, shelving in the pantry, placement of kitchen items, use of cabinet space and procurement of a large “easy to see” clock which was recently purchased. Labeling is being addressed but on hold until cabinet/drawer use is determined to be complete. All challenges are being addressed in collaboration with CBC staff, Elders and Deacon Board.

Many of the Fellowship/Communion volunteers serve in other ministries, and at times could be scheduled to serve in multiple CBC ministries on the same Sunday. To prevent the possibility of multiple scheduling conflicts, the Fellowship schedule, along with the Greeters schedule, and the Children’s Ministry schedule, are previewed to avoid any scheduling conflicts. However, due to illness and other absentee related issues, at times last minute changes in assignments are still required to cover crossover ministries.

In summary, CBC post-worship Fellowship-time-volunteers join in welcoming, witnessing, praying and sharing the essence of mutual edification, as we reflect Christ’s love toward one another.

“For in Him we live and move and have our being.” Acts 17:28 NIV

Sermons & Radio Ministry: Sermons from Sunday can be accessed and listened to on our CBC website: www.cbchurchsr.org or listen to archived messages from Pastor Glen on our radio website at www.transformingtruthradio.org. Pastor Glen's sermon messages continue to be recorded and heard on KNLR 97.5 in Bend, Oregon and KNLX 104.9 in Prineville, Oregon at 9:05 a.m. on Sunday mornings. This service is supported entirely by CBC as a ministry to the Central Oregon community since 2008. Since its inception, over 584 radio programs have been produced and broadcast. This in addition to 30-second radio promo’s that are produced and played several times each day on KNLR. When the new church website comes online you will have the ability to download messages from the web page to your personal devices such as; computers, tablets, flash drives or smart phones. The need for CD’s should begin to decline in the coming year. This will result in a saving to church finances by eliminating the CD’s, which are becoming obsolete.

This year we made several improvements to our Audio/Visual ministry. Our A/V vendor, Joe Bettis, has completed the Commons A/V system – including an audio input, two wireless microphones and a video system consisting of four large-screen TVs. Now people giving presentations in the Commons can connect their laptops or tablets to the TVs. With a TV camera in the sanctuary, we can also televise our worship service in the commons. We are in the process of improving our sanctuary A/V system. Our prior mic and feedback problems have been eliminated since we installed a new digital mixer system there is more to be done, however. While we upgraded our wireless microphone systems last year and have achieved better sound quality, interference from outside sources impedes its operation. We will be working to resolve this (by installing a special antenna system). We praise God and lots of give lots of thanks to Joe and his crew!

We have also improved our Proclaim video presentations by adding announcements that are displayed before and after our worship services both in the sanctuary and the Commons. (Lots of thanks to Gina Reedy, who creates the announcement slides.)

We welcome Mark Kanko and Scott Asla to our team and praise the Lord for our audio/visual staff – our inputters, video presenters and audio technicians. Thanks for your behind-the-scenes work well done! If you have an interest in helping our worship at CBC, we have openings for worship video and sound technicians, lyric inputters and projectionists. Here’s a great opportunity for those interested in HiFi/audio and/or video production. We’ll provide training oh how to do setups, mixing and recording.

Facility Maintenance Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

Community Bible Church members have been blessed with the construction and near completion of the Eternal Connextions Project this year. The CBC complex received extensive renovation and modernization to the existing structures and systems as well as a welcome new paint makeover. A fire suppression system with alarms, included in the new construction was retrofitted into the Annex. An additional benefit realized by the Eternal Connextions Project was repair costs were significantly less than budgeted.

The bulk of the facility duties were completed as in years past. Small equipment repairs were done. Painting and minor replacement or adjustments to the features of our complex were addressed. Tim Phillips added to our décor by creating and installing some nice additions to the Commons area. Don Biswell, (grounds maintenance) spent long hours to ensure our grounds were clean and free of obstructions. After the January 2019 wind storm, a big thanks to Tim Phillips who helped me cut up and remove some fallen trees from our parking lot. Also thank you to Kerry Stanley, Lee Wolbert, and Rebecca Coder and her kids for helping Don remove branches & debris from our property as well.

Last and finally not least, were the efforts of the snow removal team! Kerry Stanley, Ed English and Dan Abelein worked hard to make the walks into church were free of snow and ice. Special recognition to Allyn Hayes. In addition to weekly assisting with the usual winter snowfall, after our “Snowpocalypse,” Allyn tackled the heavy-duty task of removing all of the accumulated snow from the stairways and handicap ramps. This was service that went way beyond the call. Thank you everyone who worked so hard to keep CBC clean, safe and welcoming for us all!

Respectfully and in His service, Mike LeDuc – Deacon/Facility Maintenance

Caring Fund Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

The elders are pleased to report that the Lord has used your generous gifts to the Caring Fund this year to provide financial help to many in our church family and community. It is a great joy to provide assistance to those in need. Many respond with a heartfelt thankfulness. We were able to distribute $6,190.00 to regular attendees/members, and $1,022.61 to others in the Three Rivers, Sunriver, and distant church connections. That is a total of $7,212.61 in disbursements.

The funds often go to help individuals and families with rent payments, mortgage payments, gasoline, electric, medical bills, and groceries. Just a reminder, if you desire to give towards the Caring Fund, we have a special offering once a month following our Communion service, or you can designate on your checks or cash for “Caring Fund” in the regular offering. Offering baskets are provided at the back of the sanctuary following communion services. Thanks again for your sacrificial giving and the blessings it provides.

Treasurer/Bookkeeper Annual Report 2018/2019 ____________________________________________________________________________________

God has graciously given our congregation faithful hearts to meet the obligations He has gifted CBC to accomplish. The generous gifts of recent times have brought us to a near balance of expenses and giving in our fiscal year. However, this has been brought about in part by changes in the tax laws and people’s patterns of giving. More in a minute.

The 2018/2019 year has brought us the completion of our Commons area with all of the joy we anticipated. Soon the remaining lower building portion will be finished bringing an end to the physical portion of Eternal Connections. All of the expenses will have been paid. Remaining for CBC will be the mortgage of $500 thousand to be amortized over 25 years at a reasonable rate. Funds have been set aside to accomplish some of the furnishings, the update of the parking area, and some landscaping. The mortgage payments are budgeted and withdrawn automatically.

Our budget for fiscal 2019/2020 has been carefully drawn reflecting recent changes in giving and adjustments in a number of line items. We will be giving up our outside storage use and moving to our expanded spaces. Adjustments have been made in the extent of expenses for events not held at CBC and in staff conferences. Attached are the summaries and comparisons. Recent tax law changes have caused some of the congregation to contribute in annual sums rather than on a periodic basis. Their blessings to CBC make our prior history of giving as an overall management tool less indicative. God will be with us regardless! The Elder team along with Peggy Linville and Mike Magill are ever watchful over our changing, but strong financial position. We have set aside an entirely separate emergency reserve of $70 thousand and will maintain an operational account of greater than $40 thousand. Budgeting for the 2019/2020 is less than the previous year as shown in the attachments but preserves our ministries while allowing debt servicing. Know that as we go forward all will be kept aware and the Staff and Elders will conscientiously follow our funds management for His use.

Respectfully submitted by Richard Wharton, Treasurer & Peggy Linville, Bookkeeper
