The Tuckahoe School Foundation is dedicated to assuring the continued excellence of our schools by facilitating and developing academic enrichment programs and other innovative educational projects. The Foundation is a non-profit organization com-prising community, business and civic leaders work-ing in collaboration with the administration and the Board of Education to secure independent, volun-tary funding for these programs and to involve par-ents, community members, alumni, and the private sector in enhancing the education of every child in our district.

From Our President…

On behalf of all the members of the Tuckahoe School Foundation Board, I

am pleased to update the community on the State of the Foundation. The

Foundation has just completed its twelfth year of operation. We continue to focus on providing support for programs and events that enhance the

learning experience of all Tuckahoe students, which would not otherwise be funded by the annual district budget.

Over the past 12 years we have successfully raised funds that have resulted in the Foundation providing over $263,000 in grants and scholarships. We

also continue to strive to increase our endowment, as it is our goal to fund

larger and more far-reaching projects as well as continue to support teacher grants. This year we funded over $36,000 in teacher grants and student

scholarships, including the funding of our joint project with the Generoso Pope Foundation to put SMARTBoards in every classroom in all three

schools. This past year I am proud to have been part of the team responsi-

ble for the new sound systems that will be installed in both the High School\Middle School and Elementary School auditoriums. I am also proud

that the Foundation provided the funding for the new Spanish enrichment program at the Cottle School.

I am honored to have completed my term as President of the Tuckahoe School Foundation. It has been a pleasure working alongside such a talent-

ed group of board members. I thank you for your dedication and hard work for the students of the district. As the Foundation continues to grow I would

like to wish the best of success to our new president, Lori Walzer, our new

vice-president Paul Spiridigliozzi, our new Treasurer, Stephen Moschetta, and our returning secretary, Anna Manca. I would also like to recognize our

past President Angela Chinese who has recently tendered her resignation after many years of valuable service to the Foundation. You will be sorely

missed.

As we continue our mission of “Putting Tuckahoe Kids First”, we invite all of

the community to join us at our 10th Annual Casino Night – “TSF Masquer-ade Ball”, on November 2, 2012 at The New York Athletic Club. This is our

only fundraiser of the year so please mark it in your calendars for what

promises to be a fun night of Dinner, Dancing & Gambling. Your continued support will assure our success!

Thank you to all who have supported our efforts in any way. With the sub-

stantial financial pressure on the district, it is your continued support that

will assure our success, and continue the enrichment of the educational experience of our students.

Steven Garcia
